I bought a fusion ESC yesterday, and guess what, it doesnt work! I found this out after puting dean plugs on it, so i have to go out and buy some tamiya plus and put them one so Novak wont charge me $25. My LHS wouldn't take it back, they said it was Novak's policy, not theirs. I know how you felt about your EVX now, it really sucks doesnt it?

I guess we have all learned a valuable lesson from these two cases: Test the product before changing the plugs!

at least youll get yours back, who knows what has happened to jeeps, probably will be held on for 2 years so they can figure out how to distinguish the black and red wires since the connector was cut off ;) hehe lol :D

The Tekin Titan ESC would be good for the Maxx. Jeep, what do you dislike about it the most? Is it the number of ways to void the warranty or the jerkyness to it?

jeep- If you dislike the quality of the EVX then you should also be a little mad at Novak since they are the ones who make it and not Traxxas. But I see why your mad at Traxxas since they charged you a fee and they are the ones who sell it and all.
I always thought Tekin was better than Novak, one reason was because of their ESC's (couldn't afford the chargers). The Rebel was better than the Rooster and still is, but back when Tekin was doing well, the Rooster was the same or more expensive than the Rebel. The Rebel had lower resistance, higher frequency, handle more cells etc. My Rebel still runs great today!

I had to send in my Rooster ESC to Novak after it apparently fried on my. I had cut off all the connectors and added Dean's connectors to all the wires. I did go to the novak site (http://www.teamnovak.com) and emailed with the tech support before sending in my ESC. I also sent in a copy of all my emails which detailed my troubleshooting efforts. A week after sending in my ESC, I received a brand new ESC, at no charge. That was after I cut off the connectors, and in my support emails even mentioned that I was afraid I had voided my warranty. They did not charge me a rewiring fee, and they even commented on the invoice that they found no problems with the ESC I sent to them.
Short summary: I wasn't charged a fee even after I had cut off the connectors. I sent the unit in as is, with no connectors.
Best of luck with them.

Hey DS5160, was your Rooster still fairly new and still under warranty, or had the warranty expired? Just wondering because I have an Atom that I got in an auction lot (no receipts or any paperwork included :( ) and the poor thing is pretty beat up. I've been thinking about sending it in because the one-touch setup works only somtimes (taken over 40 minutes to program the stupid thing, and I've programmed others in less than 2 before). Anyways, just wondering.

Remember Novak made the ESC for Traxxas and Traxxas handles the warranty. IMO I think the EVX is much better improvement from what they had. I do agree that the rewire fee is stupid. Traxxas should consider that not everyone who buys a E-Maxx is a beginner.

I've never had a re-wiring fee with Novak...They are usually top notch in customer support and repairs. It's ridiculous that Traxxas does.

Technically my Rooster was out of warranty by 3 days. But, according to the small print, I had voided my warranty by replacing the plugs in the first place. I did start correspondence with Novak about a week before I sent in the ESC. I had all paperwork, my email correspondence, and purchased the ESC new. If you don't have the paperwork, go to the Novak site and read the section about service.

You'll want to read the non-warranty link, which opens a pdf you can print and mail in with an ESC. From my experience, the tech support was excellent.

WHAT IS SAID WAS THAT WE ALL SHOULD E MAIL TEKIN AND ASK THEM TO BUILD A ESC FOR THE E MAXX . COME ON THEY WANT US TO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS , WHY NOT ASK FOR WHAT WE WANT 20 CELLS , NO MOTOR LIMIT, 12 OR EVEN 10 GAUGE WIRE. 2 PROFILES [ FOR/REV AND FOR ONLY] BIG HEAT SINKS SO WE CAN CRAWL OVER ROCKS AND OTHER THINGS .COME ON LETS DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ah i feel much better geting that off my chest!

I told you guys that I don't trust novak (or traxxas...)... It is too bad that Tekin's gone. I'm going to have to try out some LRPs soon.
