Ok, I'm designing a r/c unicycle for a school project. It will be using a stock motor. I'm trying to figure out gearing - right now I'm thinking of using a ultra-light 8" tall tire, with a 300 tooth spur gear mated to a 15 tooth pinion (no transmission, by the way). My proposed setup will give me a rollout of ~34.4 mm, and a top speed of 48 km/h at an assumed 25000 RPM. FYI, steering is accomplished by two servos swinging a mass side to side, to alter the center of gravity. Thus the wheel will lean into a (very shallow radius) turn (the tire is rounded).
Can anyone tell me:
Whats the ideal rollout for a stock motor? I seem to remember around 35 mm was in the ballpark from my racing days (way back when).
I'd appreciate any suggestions for gearing too, if my setup seems way off (the spur gear hasn't been made yet, so its not too late!)
