Hey, Thanks guys!!!
Siro, Yea I seem to have TOO many RC's sitting around here, if there is such a thing as too many.:D
Upon doing this conversion, it's probably one of the most well rounded trucks for racing and bashing. It maintains the original cround clearance of the T-Maxx and awesome suspension of the T-Maxx, but allows a very solid driveline while lowering the center of gravity almost 2", as compared to a T-Maxx. A 2 speed is also available for the center spool, if you want alot of speed.
Basically, you just have to shave down the MP chassis, and drill holes so you can mount the T-Maxx bulks, and remove enough of the chassis to allow full suspension movement of the T-Maxx suspension.
The stock MP center shafts will work, you will just need some drive cups for the T-Maxx diffs. I use SuperMaxx drive cups but MIP's will work to.
Stock MP steering will work, you just need to customise some turnbuckles to fit, no biggie.
The hardest part of the conversion, and not really even hard, is to finding a spot to mount the T-Maxx diffs, while allowing proper play in the center shafts and clearing enough in the front so the steering won't rub.
To make upper braces for the diffs, I just used an old T-Maxx chassis, cut and drilled to fit.
To have the bulks mount al little more solid, I used Grumpy Tom's lexan bumpers which work great.
I have made some changes since the posted pics, but it's basically the same.
If anyone has any questions, I plan onstarting a board for Hybrid discussion, or email me at:

STOP TEASING ME!! :) My MP has been like crying out all winter "Snow, Snow, Snow". By now we should have a good 4” or better but no, in fact it’s suppose to get up to 60F today. Though there is a chance for snow Thursday, so 60’s on Tuesday Snow by Thursday, got to love Nebraska weather :)

Yeah, they are great trucks, I've ran into a steel garbage can and nothing broke except for a dent in the can. The arms are strongs unlike the MP. It's built a lot stronger and about 2 lbs lighter. With a large clutch bell it accelerates faster but top speed is gear limiting. Mine only goes 1-2mph faster than a mp but my engine is old. It is also very stable. I wouldn't reccommend buying one b/c it'll get expensive to get it running good. Steel gears, bearing, stablizer are all must do addons. Most of my part came from my old inferno i retired. Also the stock clutch bell is too small. Personally i think it's the best looking.

I really cant wait till mine gets here now. I am either going to put it on the Thunder Tiger EK4 or the 4X4 Stampede. I am building it for my Uncle. He has a real CJ that he bought brand new in 1984. It still looks new. I will paint it the same color and all. For his birthday. His 73rd birthday. Yep, 73 and still playing with r/c. I love it.:)

02-14-2002, 10:23 PM
I like them both really, but the tmaxx is a lot faster. The mega force is really set up to climb.....it really needs a 2 speed tranny. I think overall out of the box the Tmaxx is a better bang for the buck truck. With a few mods the mega force could be a great contender....

Nice Max Six. Are those shaved tires in the pic (The ones the Max is climbing on)?
SixVi6
04-16-2002, 09:42 PM
Yup the stacked ones are cut stock tires. It makes them a lot lighter and grip better in the loose stuff.
The tires on the trucks are my set of new IMEX JumboMaxx wheels and Claw Dawg tires. they are MP sized tires and the wheels are offset just like stock maxx wheels so they don't stick way out and are not a strain on the servo. they are great for climbing.
The jeep bodied truck is my smallblock climber and the silverado bod maxx is my .21 powered truck that usually has the cut stock tires on it. Ligher is faster and lighter .21 is way fast.. lol I guess I should have put descriptions under those pics. lol..

Where can I get Claw Dawg tires? If they're MP size then they should fit my EK4 right?
SixVi6
04-18-2002, 07:00 PM
IMEX makes the Claw Dawgs.. here is a link to their catalog (http://imex.clodparts.com/tires.html)
But... Stormer Hobbies (http://www.stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/searchpn.pl?stype=cust&pn=IMX&man=IMEX) Has them for cheaper and they are in stock right now.
I don't know it they will fit the EK4 though.
If the Claw Dawgs are the same size as stock MP tires then they should fit EK4 stock rims.(I hope)

The truck comes with a wheelie bar but I added wheels from one of Nick's (my son) broken toy monster trucks. The little orange things are LED exhaust pipes.(also cannibalized from one of my son's toys) They flash to look like flames.

Very nice. I still can't get my t-maxx to wheelie at all. For some reason, I'm having trouble getting the mixture just right, I think. Supposedly the TRX engine should give that much power when properly tuned.
Once I do the carb flip, then it might be easier to dial in the low throttle mixture. High isn't so difficult. Seems like I gotta tune it every time I run it. Temermental little sucker.

They have alot of offset. Puts alot of stress on steering components/servos. Try autohausrc.com (you'll probably have to call them as they're probably not listed on the site) or check out Ace's EK4 forums. Lots of info over there.

Have you looked into the Megatech .16? Supposed to be better than the stock. You don't really want your stock T-Maxx to do too much wheeliiiiing. You'll just end up breaking and twisting the drivetrain.
Are you making sure it's REALLY warmed up before doing any tuning? Check out the "articles" at RCCA's site. They have some very informative articles on engine tuning, break-in, performance, etc.
The Beast runs well. The rear diff gears are starting to slip because the plastic case flexes from the torque of the .70.
Everyone's waiting for TTR/Ace to decide what to do about this issue.
Later,
Tim
Nah, not yet. I haven't even run a full gallon of fuel through it. Just ran it for awhile and put it up for a long time. rencently blew the cobwebs off and revived it.
Seems to be running ok now that I got it running again.
Picked up a fuel filter, bigger head(harcore racing), new intake filter(CEN), fuel tubing and fuel tank(broke the top off the old one). Now, it has alittle protection, beter airflow and pretty soon, it'll have a stinger(wanted to get it running before I put new parts on and make tuning alittle easier).
I plan on doing at least a rebuild on this motor and possibly porting it when I do so. I have all the tools...just gotta research it alittle more and make sure all the engine parts are up to the task.
I've heard going to a long stroke .16 will make a huge difference, but I just wanna make sure that I'm not incompitant with 2-strokes so I don't just get a new motor and kill it.
Guess I was confused because I saw a post where a guy finally figured out how to tune his engine and had enough torque to pop the font end up...musta been a different motor, then.

Actually it does put stress on steering/servos. I didn't say it put stress on drivetrain but since you mentioned it, these big wheels DO put alot of stress on the drivetrain. It's called rotational mass.
They are Thunder Tiger EK4 rims not Ofna. They have more offset than Ofna MP rims. They require very strong steering servo. You can read about this over at Ace's EK4 forum if you don't believe me. If you still want the EK4 rims, refer to my previous post.

You can reduce the image's quality, which will shrink the size a lot. If that's not enough, you can try cropping the picture.
I figured that was the best way but how exactly do I do that? I tried putting the pic in a paint program but sort of screwed it up from there. Sorry, I'm just not very computer litterate. Thanks

Here is my new Tmaxx page. I am also making a gallery of fellow maxxers Maxxes.

Not sure if it was a fluke or not, but the thing can pull wheelies now. Not consistently, but it seems to be able to do it sometimes on the stock TRX .15. I was surprised to say the least. :D

Cool! Now slap a Megatech .16 in it and see what happens. I think it's not much more than the price of a .15 rebuild.
The opposite is true for my EK4. I can sometimes keep the front wheels on the ground (below 1/4 throttle).:D Instead of dumping $1000 into a T-Maxx to get it to perform like this Beast, just buy an EK4 and be done with it. No offense intended toward the T-Maxx. If you drive the EK4 once, you will never want to drive your T-Maxx again.
Well, I went out "maxxin" with a buddy of mine last night and I stand corrected. This thing can bust wheelies just fine, but you need terrain of some sort...not just flat pavement.
My friend actually had a megajunk in his truck and mine kept up with it just fine. In fact, they were dead-even in a drag race. I think he had it leaned out even. :D
He wasn't real happy with the M16 and was considering switching back once he saw how sparky my 15 had become with addition of the stinger.
I think a few things contributed to the wheelies, though. For one, I have my spring rates way up so that the rear won't squat when I accelerate...also keeps the center of gravity high which is key. Problem is the exhaust got plugged when I wheelied in the dirt.
Still, I'm getting used to the new-found power. Not sure if I'm quite ready for the EK4...besides, I think I'll wait for them to work out the driveline inadequacies and just get the EK4 unlimited with the .90...much later, though and I'm still not sure the cost can be justified(considering I already have 2 electric TCs and a T-Maxx).
Think I'm gonna have to get some stablemax wheels and a wheelie bar(or wheels like you have).
I'm happy. :D
IF I were to get another R/C, it's gonna be an 1/8 scale buggy for sure. Now those things get me exighted.
Not to get off the subject, but yeah, I was thinking about an 1/8th scale bugging also. I was looking at the OFNA Ultra LX RTR. Man, RTR with .21 AND radio for $359.99?!?! Yes please:D :D :D :D

I have a Thunder Tiger Mirage with a PRO.21 in mint cond, with a hitec radio that I am trying to sell for $230. Are these things not worth anything, or should I keep it and race the thing? I kinda stumbled across it, I dont know much about 1/8 buggies.

TCON, put the picture that you want to post in the picture editing software that you have, and save it as a JPEG file. This can dramatically reduce the size of the file. Unless it is already in a JPEG format and is still too large.......Hope this helps
