Ek4 Engine Blown Up!!!!

Its true, there are definately problems with the .70 engine, been running my engine fat about 2 /34 out...temp been around 195-245...i thought every thing was good, but 3/4 gallon of cool power 10%, and then my piston broke...looks like the piston ring got stuck in one of the intake ports, then breaking the piston ring groove...my piston is broken on the intake side...similar to pictures seen in this forum....

so those of you who had these problems, your input will be greatly appreciated!!!....like did you actually send in the engine and they repair it or replaced it...where did you folks find engine parts???...looks like i can save the sleeve, but will need new piston, piston ring , and con rod

ek4racer ,send or take the engine back to your lhs &tell them to sort it out with the supplier , they know about the engine trouble & youwill get a new one , i am going to be on my 3rd engine soon i have sent the whole truck back to amerang & hopefully they will send me a credit note to get something else ha ha .

if not :do so, and if yes, what does your manual say ?
i really want to know or all the faulty engines state in the manual to use fuel with 5% max nitro on break in

yeah my manual says 5% "maximum"...in the engine breakin section

i called ace, they dont seem like they want to correct the problems!!!!!

hmmmm i wonder what this tells TTR...maybe someone should send them an engine and have it be simple like "big vroom vroom + small cooling thing= kaboom"

still find it most curious, every heliman that i talk to says nothing but good on the ttr pro 60 and pro 70 engine.
maybe the upgrade to a car enging parts are the fault.
i have a new pro.70 heli engine coming and i am building it on my ek4.
i will only place the starter (prefebly the upgraded autohous one) on it and will hold the original heli piston and sleeve.
helis run full rpm most of the time so it will do just fine in my truck :D

I think that all the people with bad engines should wait and keep patient until they get the chance to run a good one. I mean don't expect a motor that ttr admitted to as having problems in the first batch to run or last very long. Just keep with it and wait until you run the corrected version!

Believe this or not I have one of the 5% engines and other than fuel spraying all over everything (I still haven't found the problem)
mine is still running fine??? I have run about 1 gallon so far and everything seems fine -- -- Any suggestions on another really quick truck "when" this one goes out! thunder quake?

buy an ofna monster pirate...my friend and i had ours since they first came out...around the late summer of 2000, since then its been nothing but fun...the mp is a very durable truck, in my opinion it has beefier components than an ek4...an mp will not let you down

alot of us w/broken ek4's are probably owners of mp's, we just wanted something w/more power....till they sort out these engine problems,and get my engine repaired or replaced...i guess im going to thrash w/my mp....go to rcmt.net, and go to the monster pirate forum...alot of info there

thats it for now...lets see if ttr can live up to their name!!!

midmadn> Yes, I have one of the corrected engines. I have put about 1.5 gallons through it without any engine problems at all running Blue Thunder 20%. I would have more but am now waiting on some steering parts. Hope you get a good engine this time so you can feel the power.

ek4racer, i have sent my second engine back to a company called amerang in england , this time the whole truck has gone back i am hoping they will fit in the new modified engine in it because if they dont i will trade it back in for some thing else like a ofna mp so i can actually have some fun
