at first i didnt like this thing, and im still hesitant to get one because recently everything ive bought from duratrax has been going south... so do you like your guy's trucks???? do they have nice suspension??? were the NQs bugs fixed(since the NQ and TQ are basically the same)

The TQ & NQ are not basically the same, the upper deck & shock towers are the only major parts used fom the NQ, the stripped diff gear problem in the NQ has been fixed in the TQ by using straight cut gears with bigger teeth. I had a blast with my TQ in the snow today

unrstered- yes the are basically the same, the TQ does have its differences but chassis wise they are the same.

that looks like powder snow, your truck gets through that??? hmm wonder how my MP will fair when i finally get it fixed

so has anyone ade hop ups for the TQ???

How are they the same truck? Aside from the aforemantioned upper deck & shock towers, what other major parts do they have in common? The chassis is even a different part #

ok the chassis must have had a few minor re-designs to accommodate the 3-speed tranny, but that chassis is basically the same

Wow, I just read the above post "Nitro Quake to Thunder Quake" & the guy posted the parts list with prices on all the parts needed to convert the truck, the total came to over $300, not including wheels & tires, that's quite a hefy sum considering the trucks are "basically the same"

ok lets put this all together in estimation.

1. the 3-speed tranny w/lube: roughly 60-70 bucks
2. steel spur gear: 30 bucks or so
3. the A-arms: 30 all together
4. the tires and rims, 60 bucks or so

what are we at 180-170???

the truck does have its recognizeable differences, but all the duratrax 1/8 cars are based off of the same chassis design, just different addons to make it different. anyways i didnt post to argue over whats what. so is that powder your TQ is in??

The TQ has a 3 speed tranny? Mine doesn't.

C'mon Andrew... I've read so many posts where you've talked trash about Duratrax products, you can't possibly want one!?

Andrew in your est. you forgot the price for the "new" ring and pinion gears. Also the new knuckles for the pivot ball type suspension. The reverse unit and new chassis. Add these to your est. of $180.

With using pivot balls this make susp action much smoother.
Yes the chassis's look the same they are both blue and flat. The TQ chassis though is cut differently to allow more suspension travel and ground clearance. About 1/4" x 1 1/2" of the chassis is cut out on the left and rigt of the chassis under where the susp arms connect to the housings same with the rear of the chassis.

Oh the TQ only has a 2-speed not 3-speed. :)

If I get a Thunder Quake the first thing I am going to do is chuck the body for something nicer!
