If there isn't one there should be. We may not have the population base or the 'endless summer' of some west coast states but we support our our hobby just as passionately.

I'll agree with that Bluesy; last summer I stayed in Duncan at some friends house, and they took me to the only RC demolition derby that I've ever heard of. The rules were that you could change batteries and add fuel, but nothing else...30min on and 10 min off, etc. It wound up lasting a few hours, and it was the big push for me to get back into the hobby.:)

Is this demo derby annual? I would mind checking that out.

RCMT is an R/C Monster Truck web site, they have members from all over the world. But its not a canadian forum

pudder

Yes we definately have some good RC people, so what if it gets snowy and everything, that is what indoor tracks are for. :D RC demo derby, I would kill to see that!

I dunno if it's annual or not; I'll call my friend and find out. All I can tell you is that it was held in a hockey rink (no ice) that had a huge hockey stick on top of the building(like maybe 75' long).

StrangeDesires
01-23-2002, 08:44 PM
I think Ive driven past that that rink, If they do it again Id like to go check it out

They have a link to the Ottawa forum for all the guys from Ottawa.

Theres also one for the other track that justy opened in TO, but Im not sure what that is.

Get a T3 or Losi XXXT. The T3 is most popular at Winnipeg and there are a few XXT here too, also the DuraTrax Evader. RCGUY49-We are having a weekend long series of races sometime in late Feb or early March, you should come out for that.

As long as you are having fun. At my track there is just one truck class and we are limited down to only stock motors.

-mike

ayk_driver
01-30-2002, 10:15 PM
what about buggies?

pudder
01-31-2002, 11:11 AM
Well since the population of our track consistes mostly of TC's and 1/12's there is just 1 class at carpet track for trucks and buggies called gearbox.

Truck is the best class to start out with because it is not so competetive as the TC's and such, also easer to drive and really just a blast.

-mike

ayk_driver
01-31-2002, 11:23 AM
well i have a buggy but thanx..... what kinda trucks r more popular?? nitro or electric???? anything other that the T-MAXX?

pudder
01-31-2002, 11:27 AM
Nitro is not permitted and no MT's. We only allow trucks with foam tires here. Different tracks have different classes and rules.

Here is my track's site: www.geocities.com/midcanadarcautoracing
I hope that link works.

Get off the 401 at McCowan, and get onto progress going east. Turn left at the Coffee Time and keep driving past the Devry and its right there.

They dont allow foams because they leave marks on the carpet and the compound smells way too much. Its a small space, not much ventelation

Hellonu
02-05-2002, 10:37 PM
canuck! Too much compound with foams? I was at the take off race last weekend..... i think rubber tires use a lot more chemicals to get them grippy! :)

pudder
02-05-2002, 10:47 PM
Well however it is I still say foams would be a lot better. If the truck guys got all soft foams like i have, they would need no compound.

There will be black marks probably from those few people who don't take off the extra compound on the burn rug. of course there will be the marks on the corners just from regular wear.

Some of the guys at my track g oon the burn rug untill their tires start smoking.

-mike

Hellonu
02-05-2002, 11:24 PM
foams rock. you never here pan car racers complain about tire of the month or lack of traction. In touring car its always the topic of discussion

pudder
02-06-2002, 09:32 AM
So does anyone know if they could/will be coming out for the weekend long Cabin Fever races here, I have yet to find out the date, maybe I will find out this weekend.

-mike

Crazy Canuck
02-09-2002, 08:13 PM
Leo keeps saying its the compound smell, and he doesnt want to mark the carpet. I agree, foams would be nice, but I dont want o try arguing with Leo, its been done.

On Oval night at Champs, with foams, the place smells like a peppermint gum factory, with all the CRC stuff in the air.

Hellonu
02-10-2002, 08:04 AM
its funny i find i use way more compound on rubber tires. At the take off race the fumes were high! :) on rubber tires

Drop by my web site, Our touring car race is coming up April 12-14 trophies for everyone! Prizes too.

-mike

OvalEclipseZ

Not this winter, we plan to race the micros next year but almost everyone runs Nitro in the summer, that's why we don't race in the Winter.

pudder
03-18-2002, 06:01 PM
I only race electric.

-mike

OvalEclipseZ
03-18-2002, 07:12 PM
We have a couple electric that come out. They have a good time.

OvalEclipseZ
03-18-2002, 07:21 PM
There will be Micro's racing but that will be a seperate, much smaller track. I doubt any of the electrics will be alowed to race in points races. We'll still end up with nitros and stuff on there just to goof off but we will have a bunch of newbie racers so we don't want to be ruining anyones cars.

Mirco racing is a kinda cheaper way to get people into the hobby. In time we hope to get then into something bigger. In the last month since we decided to race them 7 people have bought cars (all at once in a group buy from great hobbies) and we have 5-7 people so far who plan to race Nitros all summer and get into the Micro's in the Fall. We'll be making another group buy then on Micro's if you or anyone else is interested.

Before Wrc2 was started I tried to arrange something with Mid-Canada for Nitro on-road racing but the guy who runs the web-site says there was no interest and wouldn't do anything. The club started at 4 guys last year and was at almost 15 by the end of the summer. We hope to hit at least 30 this summer. It's a little less serious than mid-canada, a whole lot cheaper and we support the touring cars. We don't really compete at all (except maybe when it comes to new people considering on or off road) with mid-Canada but it would have been nice if we could have worked together. Now that things have come together for us there isn't much reason.

pudder
03-18-2002, 07:36 PM
I am good friends with the site operator of the Mid Canada website. I think we don't have nitro TC's because we would need a larger building as the current one right now is very small, and also we would need a building with really good ventalation. I like the organization of the Mid Canada, but in the summer I am sure me and a friend will stop by your guys track. I might maybe every second weekend. Mid Canada is expensive, and this will be free and just bashing with other guys, they both have their ups and downs.

-mike

OvalEclipseZ
03-18-2002, 07:46 PM
I totaly understand the Winter thing, I live really close to where you guys race. I know that building would be no good for the winterfor Nitros I was just looking for something in the summer. It's not a big deal now, we have gotten really organized this year so it'll be fine.

Racing isn't "free" because you do have to pay the membership fee but after that you don't have to pay anything unless you want to take part in the Points Races which consist of about 8 races throughout the year. The rest are free to race. $15 for a membership and free to race after is cetainly cheaper though.

But yeah hopefully we see you out this summer.

pudder
03-19-2002, 07:50 AM
Oh, that is still a good price though. Membership for Mid Canada is 25$ alone + the 15$ every race you go to. One thing I am wondering is for electric guys, is there a place where we can charge our batts? How do you keep track of laps, ect?

-mike

OvalEclipseZ
03-19-2002, 06:50 PM
Being brand new we don't have a lap counter or anything fancy like that. So basically we just count them in our heads. We set up huge tracks though so it's not hard to keep track of how many you have done.

As for charging everyone that races just uses their car battey. There isn't any A/C that I know of though.
