I heard from Derek in German today, and apparently there's a new Tamiya F-1 chassis on the way from Tamiya. I don't have any more information right now, but hopefully we can get Derek to take a picture for you F-1 fanatics.
Update!
I posted Tamiya's pictures in the following thread so you don't have to wait to download the images or worry about broken links.

Yeah, rumours have been circulating about a "F104" 4wd shaft drive car.
Apparently it's being called the F201, now.
Any other news from Germany Steve?

Not that I know of. But neither are touring cars, except those Audis that were banned.
Notice that they called it the F201, and not the F104, so there might still be hope for a true F104 rear only F1 car.
Looks like a really cool kit to build. Yum :p

Take out the Shaft if you want RWD. Methinks Ill have to leave the shaft in and go smoke some TC3s with it.

I think this is going to be an awesome gotta have car. since when does RC have to follow real time exactly??? Many call the T/E-Maxx a monster truck...... not... not with independant suspension. How many touring cars are 4 wheel drive in real life? Not any Dodge Stratus(es) that I've ever seen are 4WD {nor many of the other bodies seen in TC racing**. This is only my opinion.... but it is as welcome as anyone elses...... *snicker**

Given how far foward the battery is placed on this car I think it's going to need the 4wd to be stable. RWD is going to be a handful if you take the shaft out. I hope the tires are released in both of Tamiya's rubber compound right away as usually they package their A compound rubber which is a cooler weather tire. For hotter areas we'll need the B compound rubber right away.

InspGadgt, just by looking, how would you say this compares to the Cross FireForce?

Well as far as looks the Tamiya definately has the better scale looks now. As far as performance...well I can only guess based off of what I see with TCs and Pan Cars. 4wd tends to be a lot easier to drive on surfaces that are less than ideal. But their drag in the gears and extra mass make them slower and shorter run times than pan cars when compared with similar motors and batteries. I'm hoping Tamiya reduced those factors enough to where the car can compete fairly against the current F103 and Cross chassis. I plan to get both though. The new F201 is very cool but for racing in an F1 class I'll probably stick with the direct drive cars.

Beautiful chassis! Pity is 4WD. I guess Tamiya decided to follow the 4wd trend, every other chassis is. Lets' see if it revives the F1 class in the US.

Why does it seem like RCCA never says a car has something rated "poor" and extremely rarely rated "satisfactory". They always have 4 sentences for something good to say about it and have about 1 sentence about all of the bad things about it. I think that $$$ may be swaying RCCA's opinion about cars. That's why I feel more comfortable asking people n this board about cars than the magazine.

Poolboy, they may not come right out and say a car is garbage, but you can quite often tell by their writing how good/bad a car is. For example, if they start picking out points, like on the Nitro TC3 for negatives, such as "roll bar doesn't provide engine protection in roll over" and "throttle linkage could be better", these are relatively minor points and if thats the only thing they could complain about, then the car is more than likely good. However, when they start listing that gears were stripping and wearing out and suspension arms were breaking, then I would take caution in buying that car since there *might* be problems.
