Okay, I don't see a forum about this car.
Anyways I just got my "old" TA03pro out of the attic and am in the process of taking it completely apart for an overhaul to play with it again and maybe even race (which I never did with it)
I bought this car about 3 years ago just because.... felt like spending 300 dollars and I already had a lot of old r/c gear from when i was really into R/C between the ages of like 10 and 14.
(I'm 24 now)
Anyways I never played with the TA0 much the first time, probably only ran it like 10 times total and I built it with more care than any other kit I had done in the past (being an "adult" now helps hehe.)
So anybody have this car and care to comment on it in some way? I talked to some people at a LHS and they acted like it was a good car, relatively competetive, and said my Nissan Skyline body is rare or something. They sometimes run races in the back of the store and as soon as i get my car back together I'll show up there, maybe make some new friends.
I also have in various states of disrepair and in reverse order of recentness, a Kyosho Ultima2, Kyosho Nitro Brute, Royal Ripper, and Tamiya grasshopper. I wish I had somehow gotten my hands on more early Tamiya models.... but i was too young and too lazy to have money.
Hmm, not much has changed hehe.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I have the front motor version of this car. I thought that was so cool, and when I did drive it handled unlike any car I'd ever driven. Course I'd also never driven any kind of on road R/C or a 4wd let alone a 4wd, front motor, on road.
Yeah its definately trick outable. I've been looking at all the parts you can buy for it. Right now my object is to just get it running as well or better than it originally did with stock parts. I may try putting in the old Duratrax Aluminum gold body shocks i got for my Ultima2. I believe if I use the TA0's short shafts with the front (shorts) aluminum shocks they will work. I guess I'll buy another pair of short ones if they do work. I've got a 15 turn Speed Gem motor in the TAO with a Novak Fusion ESC and a really old (circa 1989) Futaba reciever and servo. I don't think I broke in the motor exactly right. I did run it with a 4 cell ni cad pack that I made and i think i put WD-40 or something in it instead of "motor drops". I looked at the brushes and they aren't too worn. You are supposed to use them till they wear down a lot right? There is a small chip in one of the brushes that I worry is from incorrect break in. When I originally used this motor, it didn't seem any faster that the Stock Green Machine I originally had in it. However that may have been due to my old Futaba ESC that was only rated for stock motors. The Novak is good to 12 turns.
Hey TAO, do you know a good way to stick a 7 cell pack into the car? I think I'm just going to use tie wraps, cause i accidentally bought a new 7 cell not realizing the car was only designed to fit a 6 cell. I guess if I race it, I'll have to use a 6. I'm going to try to return the 7 cell for a 6 cell but they probably won't take it back cause i opened the package. I hate when that happens.

Hey I got my car back together finally this evening and went for some driving under the meager street lights.
Car is very fast and handles just like I remember. Radio was a bit glitchy though.
Maybe cause I wrapped the extra reciever wire around itself back down the antenna but I thought that was what you are supposed to do. The Steering servo was doing something weird too at first. I need a new radio really. I've noticed they are a lot cheaper than they were 5 or 10 years go for a good one
Anyway to make a long story short nothing fell off and im pleased. Next time I have some free time, I'm going to stick in a new 7 cell battery and take it to a parking lot somewhere. Ill try doing something else with the reciever wire hopefully that will fix the radio glitch where it seems like if i let the car get more than say 50 yards from me it goes out of control. I can't really afford to replace my ancient MRC Top Gun radio at the moment.
I'll take a pic of mine as soon as i get a chance and see if i can upload it, I did an okay paint job but messed up the body mounts and wheel wells, i think.

The only way to fit a 7 cell is to get a double deck... either frp or carbon... then modify the cells or try to center the batteries on the chassis:cool:

I have a Ta03r with some leftover pieces from a Ta03f. How hard would it be to fit 2 motors in this car? I know Ta03 Drive Hard tried but lost interest.

Its not hard putting in the 2 gear boxes... you just need the front and rear with 2 motors... no belt needed... it would be best to use a double frp or carbon chassis... then youll need a esc that can handle 2 motors... try the evx from the emaxx... i havent lost interest really... just that i was short of funds for my project... i want to use the ta03r trf kit as the basis;)

Hey wus up? I have a Tao3f and am wanting to build a dual motor car but I cant find the rear gear box from the tao3r in order to combine the two I am going to get another EVX from traxxas or ebayin order to run the car and then figure out how to fit two batteries on there. anyway my question was does anyone have one they are willing to part with or have a part number so i can find one myself, does anyone know anywhere that has it?
thanks in advance.
