I have a Kawanda SV-10. I need to find a place to get parts. The Stick Battery Pack Mounts broke on me about year ago. I have searched the internet for parts and was able to find only two places that use to sell Kawandas but they don't anymore. I did get the website address for Kawanda but there is one very big problem with it, it is all written in Japaneese so I can't read it. Does anyone know where I can get parts for this car? Please help.
I changed the thread from "SV-10 help" to "SV-10 Forum." The Vehicles Forum is not for general help, but is for threads to discuss certain vehicles.
As far as your question goes, I am not familiar with your car, so I don't know what to tell you, Sorry.

Thanks for changing the name spelling correction and the change to Forum......The car was one of the hottest ones out about 2 years ago but has fallen by the way side making it very hard to get parts.

I have a kawada myself, don't race it anymore, just on the shelf. though parts are hard to find in the US, they are still easy to get from places like Hong Kong and Japan. I like that car a lot, mine is complete with plenty of spares (not the stickpack holders though) and I have been thinking about racing it again. If you want to, I can get you the place in Hong Kong where I bought parts for mine, I am sure they would do mailorders too. Great car, if someone knows why they are not active in the US, it would be great to get the story.

Hi there, as a lot of you guys ,racing or playing, with the Sv10 I'm having a hard time finding parts. Although I race an Alcyon 2 most of teh parts fit on a Sv10,the latter having a wider chassis.
Recently bought a complete sv10 on ebay, with loads of extra's like an tekin am receiver, an Cyclone esc and a Kawada 12 turn motor, front and rear alu bulkheads, so describe me the parts, perhaps I can be of some assistance?
BTW how are the results in the races some of you guys did with the car??
Willing to sell/trading the receiver, can't use it anyway:rolleyes:

So like you I also have a .....KAwada, Alcyon 2, and pretty fond of it to, it handles great and has got loads of possibilities to alter set up, only bought it last year. The store had about 5 of them left. I bought it for 190$ NIB, where normally it went of the shelf for 300$. When I first saw it I loved it immediatly, when I carefully listened it whispered "take me home", which I did.
I think the story in the us is much the same as in my country(Belgium) getting a new car of the ground, even if its a great one, is VEEEEEEEry hard. I believe the importer for the US was..Kawada USA:rolleyes: . But even they,as enthusiastic as they were could not cope with all the other brands, that were already racing from the dark ages on;)
So every time there's a new guy at our racing track he always asks "what car is that, it's nice well put together(no lie!!!)"
even when I let him drive it the reaction is... positive. Then I can't help putting a...smile on my face (a rather big one).
So it pleases me in having a car that no one else has that can keep up with the bunch.
One last tip: go check out the SV10 Sigma on www.kawadamodel.co.jp

We can keep it alive, and I have some parts left over, check the attatchment if you were meaning this with battery holder?
I have both of them (sv10 and sv10 alcyon2)-only race with tha Alcyon2. needed a while to get used to it, but I start to rock now, great to drive and very stif chassis.
You could try and email Mike@jethobby.com they have some parts still in stock for both the SV10 and Alcyon2.
Let me know if these are the parts you're looking for
Hope to hear, have some more pics, email me megi@belgacom.net

fomoco90... Hi there
Yes, that is the one that I need ... only #2 portion (1 piece is missing)
I will try to e-mail other guys to find out if they still have it. Thankx for the info.
I have one more question for you, since I want to lay the batteries out 3 cells by 3 cells side by side, what will be the best way to wire them. I don't think I can slide the 3 cells (soldered together ones) under the center belt like stick packed ones.
So how long the wire should be between 3rd cell to 4th cell if I have to mount from above, or do you have better way to mount them. Thank you again for your reply.

You mean im not the ONLY ONE w/ an SV10? Cool! Yes, I have an older SV10 Alcyon. Got it on a trade a long time ago, it serves as my drifter platform now. Im looking to acquire some more spares, mainly for the Diff. I also would like at least one set of front arms. I have a few spares, but not many. Im currently looking to make my SV10 into a hybrid since some of the parts are harder to find. We'll see.
Id love to make it run again, thinking of converting it to RWD for drifting purposes, but i still need parts.
Miguel, don't you dare sell that car, i called Dibs first!
If any one has connections overseas, it might be feasable to get parts sent in bulk if people still wish to drive it.
Ive found a means to convert the japan txt to english, still sketchy, but it works. Have you seen the next gen SV10? WOW!!!! here is the Sigma, as mentioned by Fomoco

Let me know what you need. I may only have one of those not the set, (see image by Fomoco90) but i use the Stick pack setup not saddle. I have no use for the cover itself, i might need the posts. Let me know.

Hello momosport,
thankx for the offer... I need the post but you need those as you mentioned. I might go with belcro stripe to hold them.
that new chassis looks a lot like losi... but very nice.
Only reason I picked up this SV-10 was because it's different from other ones and no one around here has one ( not to mention it's sexy(???) look ).... wanna be unique from others.:)
now I have to pay for that unique look.... getting the parts. :(
Still I am happy and can't wait to finish setting it up. Still waiting for other components to come in... such as charger, receiver...
BTW, what would you recomend on tires... I will be running on semi clean parking lot to practice. Eventually getting into race...

Fisrt up : are you all familiar with the fact that when looking for pieces you CANNOT find them, so you concentrate on the 1 that does, so far so good, and then they all come up with parts:confused:
The good news is here are some that DO have parts:
1/ http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/index.html
2/ http://www.rotor.com
3/ http://www.jethobby.com
They all have some stock left, all are very nice to deal/mail with
Hey Momo, don't worry it has your name on it;)
VunoS your reason in buying this car is exact the same as mine, to be different and to get some "ahhhh's" and "ohhhh's", and also because it's just darn good to look at:cool:
I run saddle packs too and the parts kawada provides isn't that good, so as parts are hard to find, I took a look at Xray and they have a great thing for saddles packs and it fits with no adjustments to be made, check pick, it is a not expensive option and it looks great.
Keep this one alive you guys!!!

Your chassis looks very sweet.:) Wish mind will be as sweet as yours after put everything together.
Is that a some sort of protection on bottom of the chassis? I haven't run mind yet to find out if there's bottoming out issue.
As you mentioned above, the saddle mounting unit from Xray...
Is this the one? Xray Ti Evo2 - Battery Holder system #306100.
This looks very nice and more convenient to replace battery.
Looking forward to chat again.

VunoS, that pickie wickie is the holder I have on my car. And really you don't have to change a thing on your chassis, except to make the holes a little deeper so the screws are neatly hidden and don't 'pick up' any dirt - still have to do this . MAn you should see the chassis after a race. I/we race on carpet.
Don't mind that "chassis protector" it's just a .... thing to keep my wheels of the ground, made of MDF.
I even tried to make a new rear and front shock holder, it worked, looked nice but was not good!! The car looked like it was doing pirouettes after every turn.:D
recently something funny and stupid happened to me lately. After every race I tend to completely clean up the car. There I noticed that I put the front shock tower in the rear and vice versa:rolleyes: Amasingly the car ran very well, so after changing like it should be, the car ran like %*%t:mad:
So all went back to the "unormal" positions, ran fourth in the b final, which is not bad!!
Nearly forgot the wire, if you are opting for saddle pack config. should be about 4-5 cm and make sure that when mounting the packs that it does not touch the belttensioner. So always check and push the wire to the other side.
There is another forum on rctech where the beginning was about the sigma sv10, buttuh I changed it to the sv10 2:D
Hey I'm glad to help out here, but I'm only a midget-altough I measure 6'8"- when it comes to this car.

Great... I will get that battery holder along with other stuff.
Since ur a racer, I got bunch of questions.:D
I pick up this hobby about a year ago and never had chance to get into local race. I am not good enought to race against other racers yet but would like to get into it. We have parking lot race once a month sponsored by local hobby shop which will be starting on March.
I don't have much experience with Electric... this will be my second one ever build.. (first one was HPI Pro 3, ran about 3 times and sold it after getting into Nitro)
My question will be what would be the great pinion and spur gear combo for small track with lots of turn. The longest straight line will be about 30 feet or so. And what would be good weight oil for stock shock with stock springs.
I will be using Tekin 700 Pro ESC along with P2K2 stock motor.
I had opportunity to pick up used SV-10 but it didn't come with any spur nor pinion gear. And will it be better to use the 64 pitch via 48 pitch? And which pitch gear comes as stock.
One more question:D Is the HUDY set up system worth to get it now (around $150)? I mean, would a novice (like myself) able to tell the difference from one set up with hudy verses one with eye-ball set up?
So much questions to be answered but running out of time.
Thank you again in advance for all of my homework....:p

The looks are fun. It surprises me that I knew when i saw my car ( b4 it became mine) what it was. before it got broke, i took it to a couple LHS around town. Very few people heard of it. The one shop that was familiar and did have parts, i bought what little was left for a great deal. I personally love the car. Its cool to be different. Honestly though, unless I had mine perfect again I'll stick to racing my FTTC3. If i could make it competitive i would. Who knows w/ a 2nd car ( HINT HINT)
I can't wait to get my SV10 re-assembled. If anyone has pics, post them up.

As far as gearing, hmmmm, good one. I honestly can't remember how the gearing is. I kinda go off what my HPI is geared to, then adjust based on motor temp and performance. For racing, thats a tough call. The manual I have is kinda sketchy. i will look through it because its a copy from a guy in cali who was Factory sponcered. he mailed me the manual and setup tips. I'll let you know. As for the HUDY. Personally, you can make a similar setup from blocks of wood. If you are just getting started, save that $150 and spend it on good batteries and tires. I WOULD get the RPM camber gauge and ride height gauge. For suspension, most shock springs are interchangable and color coded the same. Best thing is to talk to other racers and see what they run. Watch the cars race and how well they handle and turn. Wath for the car to break loose, or push in corners. Realize that some adjustments will be needed since the cars aren't likely to be SV10s.
Where in SoCal are you? My good buddy hosts races in SoCal. you can go here to find out if you are in his area. He is a great guy. If you make it to a race, tell him MOMO sent you.

VunoS, how come you still have to study if you're older than me???
Will get back on the gearin for ya, in my box came a 120t 64P
64P is good for carpet(less dirt to get trapped and less risk to
break some teeth)- if I were you go with 48P. I've been in contact with a japanese guy and he explained all of it to me, buttuh have to figure it out for meself too,way too much in one time for my grey cells

You mean there's better racer car?:p
I live in heart of Silicon Valley... aye it's been dead around here.
SoCal will be pretty good distance for me to travel. The closest track that I can go to will be at Roseville, which is roughly 140 miles from where I am.
Fomoco - aye, homeWORK.... no, I am not pursuing another degree. This hobby requires more brain work and research than my work and requires doing at home. Not to mention, trial and learn cost too much in this hobby (learned from Nitro).
So far you guys are doing most of work for me, such as selecting the right gears, finding out where I can get the parts, best places for RCers to retire(?)...<---- this will be my next question :D
I am a bit familiar with Nitro but not with electric RC. My Nitro's shock is set at 55/50w, but isn't this kind of too stiff/damp for electric? <---- another homework for you guys.
All I have to do is gather all the information from you guys and set it up the way you recomend then whala... Perfect Fomomo Setup :D
Thanks again and again for doing my homeWORK.

Concerning that wheel lift, have had the same on the sv10 I'm selling to momo. Check the rod ends on the dampers if these are of equal lenghts, mine weren't, changed the springs too, prob is this is a quite flexy chassis, have a check on that too. Wait till you can get your hands on an Alcyon 2( a b s o l u t e l y NO flex).
Even better idea, if you have acces to ebay and have paypal and you're planning on racing, buy some tamiya trf dampers(fluorine coated) they're top, and only $49.99+ shipping, nothing to adjust just some tam screws in the lower arm, et voila super dooper dampers and bo they are smoooooooooooooooooth!!

Hello Fellas,
Finally I got my SV-10 to running. Test drove that last weekend and it ran sweet. I was wondering what would be the ideal ratio for P2K2 Pro stock motor. I don't have any clue to what SV-10's differential ratio is... currently running 23 pinion and 80 spur and the motor was cold even after running 30 min.
Fomoco- I will send the file tomorrow, thanks to the dead President, I had half work day.;) I have the file at work.
Anyway, here is the picture of my SV-10.

OK, don't ask me how you figure gear ratios, but here is what i have based on a setup sheet from a guy at KAWADAUSAs info.
64 Pitch Spur
___________ X 2.25 = Internal Ratio
Pinion
Pinion
SPUR 25 26 30
122 10.98 10.56 9.15
120 10.8 10.38 9.00
* ok, this is going to take too long. If anyone needs a gear ratio let me know and i will post it. Not sure how to gauge that ratio, however I can try and give you some idea where to start. *

Great! that means gear box ratio for SV-10 is 2.25. hmm... same as HPI's Pro 3.
Well, here is the simple way to calculate the gear ratios... if you ever wonder.
(spur gear) / (pinion gear) = gear ratio
(gear ratio) x (gear box ratio) = Final Drive Ratio (one rotation of tires)
Convert from 48 pitch to 64 pitch is
((48 pitch) / 1.5) x 2 = (64 pitch) and vise verse
((64 pitch) / 2) x 1.5 = (48 pitch)
for both spur and pinion gears.
hmmm.... ever wonder where did other SV-10 owners go?
only three of us are here.... Fomoco, Momo and me.

If you really want to learn some more guys, pm dtm and imataquito on rctech, they both have (3-4) and still race it.
Guys, the moment you all comeup with digits and #'s I throw in the towel,LOL.
Momo, if you use 64P 100 spur does it still go quick enough??
I use 64P and 112 with a 38/40 pinion, motor runs a bit hot, but it goes.
race weekend coming up, yeah will post how it went, dead last, 3*LOL.

The gearing is all greek to me. I just look at the start point and see how others are geared. 64 vs 48 etc. I don't care, I just try and make sure I don't fry motors. Its strange, I am a pretty good driver and do well racing, but as far as setups etc, im not that good. my buddy was the opposite, he could set up a winner ( he did for me many a time) but lacked the driving skills.

Hello guys,
I been busy over the weekend... spending some quality time with my baby girl.:D
As far as my SV-10 goes, found out left side was 1.7mm lower than right side and one of the shock was leaking.:( no wonder why it was spinning only to one side.
I got question for ya. My chassis is about 2.5mm higher in front than rear. I have taken apart and re-assembled to factory default setting (got a copy of manual) but still remains the same.
Is this how this chassis orginally configure? I just couldn't lower my front to level the chassis (my shocks are shorten much as possible already). Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with mine? Thankx.

I've got a TB01, which i use wheel spacers to widen the track width of the car to about 190mm. In doing so, I found that the stock wheel nuts were too thick. A freind handed me a set of Kawada wheel nuts, which were not only thinner, but also used a self locking feature consisting of three small tabs, instead of the usual nylon insert. Are these standard Kawada wheel nuts? I've tried a few hobby shops in search of more of these nuts, but to no success. Can anyone inform me of a website from which I can order from?
Thanks

To my knowledge, you have to look overseas to find a KAWADA distributor. How thick are the wheel nuts? I have found a locking wheelnut that works well. Got it at my Local hardware store, I think.
Im still waiting for my friend to post the pics of my Kawada.

oh the TRF dampers are a must have for all kawada fans, heyVunoS you might consider them if you keep having your problem. Have you checked your chassis on tweaking, could be as the sv10 I is a bit more flexible than the II. Try and I hope it's gone. Oh hangon, you mean you're car stands like "Starky and Hutch's Torino, 2.5mm IS a lot, or you can add spacers underneath the chassis. Or it can be the shocks; do they have spacers in side of them??
Hope to have been of some assistance
Keep this one alive guys

Fomoco... what is TRF damper?
Still have problem with this. Manual indicates front shock should be 5mm shorter than rear ones when assembled as default without any spacers... so front chassis should be 5mm lower than rear... to offset this, the rear A-arm is mounted about 5mm highter than front A-arm, which will offset to level the chassis to ground. But my case is still highter front by 2.5mm... even with spacer on rear shocks by 2mm.
I just couldn't figure this one out.
It's starting to drive me crazy... I must have been totally disassembled and reassembled about 5 times.... the threads on plastics parts are no longer there due to install and uninstall.:(
To think that a guy with engineering degree can't even put together a RC.... Arrrrggg!
Mine does seem to run good but it does developed a rear bottom out problem with that setup.
Since I purchased mine as used, I don't know the answer to this. Does the stock SV-10 equiped with graphite shock towers? I am suspecting if my shock tower is the right one or not.
BTW... my chassis is pretty flat. It measures 0.3mm out on flatness test. (done this at work:) )
fomoco90
02-27-2003, 01:11 AM
Indeed, strange but beware here, I was mentioning the spacers INSIDE the shocks these keep the amount of droop to a minimum. When adding more spacers on the outside you'll create a much stiffer suspension, which in term will create a higher ride height. So my guess would be get restarted -no need to disamble the car for the 6th time- just the shocks. Add some rubber/silicone O-ring on the shafts INSIDE the shock.
My ride height is 4mm front and 5mm in the rear, with 3mm droop up front and 4mm in the rear. Have to sya it is a bit hard for me to
try and explain in English and I can't see.
Oh TRF stands for "Tamiya Racing Factory", these are the dampers that sit on the World Champ car, best ever seen (damper, not the car), for me it still remains ..... KAWADA!! "My precious" as the lil' character from Lord of The Rings would say so nicely.
Do tell me if it worked. I had to do the same thing on my Sv10 too. worked out fine to me after a lot of nerve breaking and headtaking exercise and I don't even have a engineering degree:D :D
Concerning the shock towers, mine were all carbon 2mm thick.
Just remeber have you altered the shock mounts, the higher you place them the lower the car gets, just guessing.
OK, LMK have a great time.
Actually where do you live in the BIG US of A??

I apologize for the fuzzy pic. Its not that clear but you can see my work in progress. Im excited for the prospects for this car. I need to do some more work (obviously) but i hope to have the who car completed soon. As you can see, the rear arms are HPI Rs4 rear arms. I used the HPI because i need teh extra length in the wheelbase. Teh Trueno shell i plan on using is a bit long, so looking at it from the side makes it appear like its too big. Can't wait to get this thing finished. Im trying to find all the parts so i can finish it. LOL, a messy pit area tends to swallow parts.
Miguel,
Let me know what parts you can get and how much. I have my photocopy of the manual. Looking it over, I can tell you some things i might need.
SV-06 A Parts
SV-08 C parts
SV-32 Rear belt
SV-31 Front Belt
I'll also like steering knuckles, hub carriers, A arms etc.
I also need DIFF gears, both F and R
If You can hook me up, I may see if VunoS wants to go in on parts w/ me and have you ship a bunch of extras over when you send my car. I will also need to know how to go about getting a MO together. Can you get Kawada Bodies? I might want a couple as well.

I was planning on using this car for a donor for my Alcyon2, lucky for you not all the parts fit. But I have made a friend through email in Singapore, perhaps he can help to find the parts needed.
Do you want me to chack that for you guys??
Second I wish I had a manual of the sv10, which I don't!!(sadly- but I can get a hold of one(Kawada's site offers this option.
So basicly the only thing I have is 1 brand new, very few scratches on teh chassis, Sv10 for you(price still remains the same($80)).
If you need some new belts for it, write down the total lenght and try to make fit some Yoko, asso or Losi belts, might work.

I had guest for few days so I had to entertain them. Mainly playing golf during daytime and drinking at night...:p
Now that they are gone, I can finally get back to my regular schedule.... playing with my RC:D
weird thing happened on sunday... I got my Kyosho V one S out for run and little pebble (rather big one) got stuck in between center pulley and chassis. due to the pebble, center pulley was completely stuck and Kevlar belt just striped the pulley gear.
It just wiped out the pulley teeth... there's no sign of teeth at all... but rather clean round pulley. And the belt looks just fine.
I gotta give credit to the Kevlar belt...
As for my SV-10.... hmmm, I got major problem with my shocks, it seems to be leaking somewhere....
What would be the comparable brand shock? I tried with HPI RS4 Nitro but it would not fit due to the mounting hole hardware. Will Xray's shock fit?

Back again, I think/believe the Xray shocks are very good in adjusting(with clicking andturning, till you find the right whole inside the shocks)but the downside is it's a bit complicated (I guess??) regarding the TRF's well they are threaded and have a special coating on them(fluorine???)which makes them ultra smooth and very up to their job. Dunno what retail is for both.

Sorry guys, its been busy w/ school and everything else going on. I am still interested, i need to figure out how to get a MO to you and in what amount. Should I send you $90 and help offset the cost of shipping? Just a thought.
I Don't have paypall however if VunoS wants to help out, I might be able to have him set it up through his account and i can re-imburse him for it. There is a guy on Ebay with the Wada that i want, but i can't get the email to go through. It sux! looks like a great deal.
a 3rd SV10? How did you manage that? I want to end up w/ 2 rolling chassis' that I can set up to run. The one i have is too torn down and Im limited in parts to repair it. So i think im better off keeping it as a spare. using the other ones as drivers. If i can acquire a 3rd one. The one on Ebay would be great.
We'll figure it out. let me know if that is an option and i will work on getting the $$ together.

seems I'm the only one keeping this thread going, LOL
Anyway, just testdrove my "precious" at work, workfloor about 20 metres long and 6 metres wide, plenty of space.
reason why is I just wanted to see if nothing rattles of the car, which it didn't. Had to stop because the floor was too slippery which reminded of you Momo, didn't you practice "drifting" with a r/c car, well have the taste now did some nice ones!!
I think it has nearly every option on it that is available, eccept the things that have to come from Singapore, some adjustments parts for the chassis- reduction/minimizing the VOLT chassis, new font hub carriers, more adjustments possibilty's, and that's about it. Hey have I got some good news for you guys, check out www.evolutionhobbies.com it seems that Kawada has got a new importer. They are only selling the new Sigma at the moment, bt rumors are that parts for the regular and older sv10 are in the tube, give them a mail!!!
hey I'm not that bad am I?? Could have sold you guys all my pieces and don't mention him, but I didn't did I!!!!:p :p
It's up to you guys now!!!

Well, consider the unemployment rate around here at Silicon Valley, I should hold up on that idea.... althought it's very tempting.:D
Racing around here got screwed big time due to sales of business ( hobby shop who sponsered parking lot race) new shop is up for those tiny rail racing cars. Not much for 1/10 scale now. I gotta look for new ones or travel to Sacramento.
If land value goes down, maybe I will make one around here.:D That is my dream so far.... indoor and outdoor race track of my own. Gotta go buy lottery ticket...;)

VunoS you speak out loud of your dream, but I only dream of it!!!

Aye, the economy around here has been pretty bad. It has been going down from 2 and half years ago.... everyone's been saying it hasn't been this worse since 1970s. It wasn't funny, last year, wake up one day and found out 5 or more companys shut down and 3~5 more next day and so on and on.
Pretty soon, there wouldn't be Silicon Valley.... most of the major players already moved up to Sacramento area. Enough with depress....
As far as getting the permit to build or setting the RC track... the trick is to satisfy the fire marshall... since they will treat the nitro fuel to be hazarous material....(which is anyway :) ), along with safety issue and disability access, etc. as soon as satisfy the fire dept. the build dept. just follows. I've been dealing with fire marshall and building inspector for last couple of years to set up a chemical treated plant. Satisfying the Roar rule is totally different thing, since I have no idea what they require.:p
and lots, lots of $$$. it will cost avg. $180 per sq. ft around here just for the land.
Arrggg, i'm starting to develop an headache....
Can anyone lend me $3 mil with 0% interest with 10 years promisory note?:D
btw.. Momo... good luck with job interview...

Here is the emails I got from the Kawada US distributor:
Thanks for the info. We will also be having the Alcyon and the 1/12th car within the month. You can go to the
Kawada site and download the manual that you need, goto www.kawadamodel.co.jp
and when the site opens, click on
the english page. You can then find the manual for downloading. If you have gears for your diff it's a series 1, if its a ball diff it's the ll series.
Hope this helps.
#2
If you can tell me which series kit you have and give
me part numbers for the items you need it would help. If you take a look
www.kawadamodels.co.jp and goto
their english page you will see we have just been appointed as distributor in the US. I have some but not all the parts in stock. We will be able to replace any parts on the Sigma in the next few weeks and the other
kits shortly after that. We are also setting up a new
Kawada web page with the permission of Mr. Takeda at Kawada.

Hello guys...
I been busy with my work lately... and other nitro cars. Didn't even have chance to try out my new shock yet. Although I did manage to get new body for my SV-10.:D
I was trying to save some money by swapping radio gear from one nitro to another one and it's starting to creat lots of work.
V1S's RX and servos to V1R...
HPI MT's RX and servos to V1S...
HPI RS4's RX and spare servos to MT...
HPI Rush's RX to RS4...
and install spare RX to Rush...
Arrrggg.... I should thought about these and should get all same brand and equal quality RX and servos...:(
Four different brand Radio and six different RX....
At least, I am leaving the SV-10's electronics alone...;)
I will let you guys know when I run out of Aspirin...
Momo... thx for donation to Den's RC foundation.... J/K
will let you know when I receive it and send mula to Fomoco.

This kind of body is actually a 3 piece one, you have a complete flat body almost rectangular/box shape on top comes the cabin, so all you have to mount is/are the body posts , jusdt like a sedan body!! Hey will try to drift itr as long as I can, 'cause it's opening weekend where I work and the garage is all cleaned up with lots of space, the floor is made up of polished concrete, non slippery for real cars, but veeeeeeery for 1/10th ones:D :D

hmmm.... that's funny! That was my reason to go out and blow my $$$ to this hobby.:D
I really wanted to start this hobby about 7 years ago, but my first baby was born. (who drives me nuts now.:) ) Now I can justify my reason (mainly blame on stress:p ) to go out and pursue my hobby.
When it comes to custom duty... if you and seller can agree to have seller signs the declaration of commerical invoice (no commercial value invoice) and submit them to custom (when shipping the merchandise), you don't have to pay a dime for it. They can simply remarks as "sample parts".
You should have no problem finding merchant doing that cause things will not be returnable to them since your invoice says $0.
I would only suggest, do that with the non moving parts, just in case.
Ever since I found new two nitro racing track around this area, I've been busy building my new Toy. V one R Grp version.
Just received my new Novarossi RS12S1 engine and Yocomo tune pipe today.:p at my office, that is. I will be trying out this one over this weekend. hmmm... I should post this one at V one R forum.:p
SV-10.... installed new fomoco's shock.... still having the chassis leveling problem. and haven't try to run it yet. For the last time, I am going to take everything apart and after one or two days I will reassemble it together.... that way I will not make the same mistake if I already done it so many times.;) will see what happen.
My girlfriend kept saying, let it go but no way.... I even went out and got myself Hudy setup things.... every one of them with HUDY logo on it. Am I obsessed? NO SIR! at least not yet. If I get that Sheldon Hobby's last SV-10 that has been collecting dust for $178 to compare parts to parts.... now that will be obsessed.
Hmmmm.... that might not be a bad idea after all....

To obtain enough reserves, seen in $$$ perspective, you'll have to sell, that is what I have done. Me to was nearly "seduced" by the "let's-buy-and-try-another-car", but I didn't so I only focused on one brand, the best brand;) . Altough I'm tempted to buy the all new Sigma now, ach the flesh is weak:D :D
As you state that you're awaiting my car, I 'll suppose you haven't received it yet, do let me know. I had to take apart some things in order to make it fit in the box, added the front and rear shock towers of the Alcyon2, and all new blue wheel hex's.
Any one noticed that we have already 5 pages full off info, trash talk and funny stuff.
Talk about fun, here's a joke:
"A man sits with a glass in front of him in a bar, a trucker(250pnds, muscles all around,...)and drinks his glass empty." The lit'l guy looks stupid where the trucker reponds to with don't worry will buy you a new one."
"That's not the problem says the lit'l one, you see I woke up this morning waaay to late, came to woork got sacked immediately, so wanted to take my car and realised it was stolen, wanted to report it to the cops, where they said they couldn't help me. So I then took a cab, where after paying the driver I realised that my wallet was on the rear seat, darn!!!" When i got home I found my wife in bed with my best friend!!!!! There i wanted to kill myself, now that I finally took the decision, you come up and drink up all my poison!!!!!"
So Momo how's work?????

Nothing yet, still waiting.
I wonder if there are needs in Belgium for an american, with great people skills (boy that sounds like the start to a bad joke...)
and some computer skills. Hmmm any RC manufactures in Belgium? Im good w/ RC cars too!
Miguel, how did you send the package? UPS? or other means. If you have a tracking # of some kind, go ahead and PM it to me.
I hope to see it soon, as i want it for a drift car. I need to get my other cars running as well. I guess thats my problem, im hesitant to get rid of anything, maybe I should sell what I don't use, but alas the thought of " some day this will be worth alot" keeps ringing in the back of my mind. Oh well. I fear the day i move, as I will need a large enough apartment or house w/ a romm devoted JUST to RC. Too many cars, not enough time. With the SV10, and 4 others, I approach the 20 RC car mark. Never will I get the $$ out of it that I want, but in some respects its just nice to have different toys.
I should have my buggy sold this week, which will allow me to order another kit. Honestly speaking, I only really want one more "kit" as it were, the new B4 buggy. The other is a conversion to make one onroad tc into offroad. Oh the things we do for a hobby. It IS a hobby right? I mean, doesn't that small print on the package tell us so?
I applied for a job in SoCal, so perhaps Dennis, I might move down if the job comes through. Then, i may just have to break out the Kawada and race with you. That would be great wouldn't it, chasing down Losis' and X-Rays w. SV10s! WE WILL DESIMATE ALL WITH OUR CARS!!!
*sigh* ah yes, reality hits......
If only..... I had....... A JOB So to keep my interests alive. A new Sigma would be cool, but the costs are a bit high for me. Im a bargain shopper.
5 pages... filled with comedic banter and wit.
I love RCs Don't you?

Eee Hemmm....
Back to the topic....;)
Fomoco... I do understand you clear, that I should put silicon tubing INSIDE the shock to limit the extention of shock length... which will reduce the expanding length of shock by length of silicon tube. That's exactly what I did to level the chassis from front to rear. (used plastic one in stead of rubber tube... wasn't thinking at that time :P)
It's like building lego blocks.... if one piece was connected wrong direction to begin with, one can still complete it by modifying other end. But what I was trying to prove myself is, if I assemble that darn chassis according to what manual instructed, I should be fine and never have this conversation (typing). That's what drives me CRAZY. Especially my precious RC..... That one piece block... which one is it ?
Thank God that I am NOT a carpenter:D

I don't see how they could, i mean, we do help out w/ the Kawada ?s that come in, but face it, we are few in #. As long as we maintain control, i can't see how they can. If they have issues, they should warn us.

I think i rather enjoy racing than tuning and building. Im sure we all know a driver or two who can tune like mad, but lack the driving skills. I consider myself a better driver, A well tuned car does help though.
Do you race anything other than Onroad? What all do you guys have?

Sorry Friend.... I hear that one a while back. but here's one for ya.
A man walked into a bar one night. He went up to the bar and asked for a beer. ¡°Certainly, sir, that¡¯ll be one cent.¡±
¡°ONE CENT!¡± exclaimed the guy, the barman replied, ¡°Yes.¡±
So the guy glanced over at the menu, and he asked, ¡°Could I have a nice juicy T-bone steak, loaded baked potato, salad and chocolate cake?¡±
¡°Certainly sir,¡± replied the bartender, ¡°but all that comes to real money.¡±
¡°How much money?¡± inquired the guy.
¡°Four cents,¡± he replies.
¡°FOUR cents!!!!¡± exclaimed the guy.
¡°Where¡¯s the guy who owns this place?¡± The barman replied, ¡°Upstairs with my wife.¡±
The guy said, ¡°What¡¯s he doing with your wife?¡±
The bartender replied, ¡°Same thing I¡¯m doing down here to his business.¡± :)

I was thinking about get rid of my off road RCs and get a new XXX NT. Still debating if I should or not.
I haven't had chance to participate the race yet mainly because lack of driving skill. I was (and still am) a parking lot basher. Now that I just joined the local race group (touring), my driving skill should be getting better. Hopefully:rolleyes:
I remember my very first track experience. btw... it was last week. took out my newly build V1R with front one way diff.
Never had one way diff. and never drove one with.... to make the long story short... let's say I was the moving speed bump for everyone out there on that night. Mine kept pointing wrong direction everytime I apply a bit of break at the corner.
Didn't know how the one way reacts when apply a break. Now I understand a bit.
Well, there goes my essay....:)

Dennis, you need to get rid of the Rush and get the XXXNMT. Either that, or if you like the "tub" style, try the GT. Im a Diehard Associated guy (see list of cars owned) so Im kinda partial.
None the less, Im not sure why I have so many. I like my toys, can you tell?
As far as the Oneway goes, Ive never used one, but I've been told that rather than braking, you just let off and let the car roll through the corner instead of breaking fully. You slow down and coast rather than brake and turn. I considered getting one for my TC3. We'll see how much racing i get to do this year.
I'll have to think of a good joke, most of the ones i know can't be repeated here!

XXX NMT seems very nice. Still wondering if I should get the Adam Drake's Version or RTR. What would you recomend?
It honestly depends. Competitively, Id say get the Adam Drake edition. If you want to race and be competitive, I would go that route. Somehow, I feel that RTR kits are somewhat bastardized in a way and IMO, you aren't a TRUE racer with an RTR kit.
As far as the NMT goes, honestly, keep it around for "bashing" cause you wouldn't want to bash your racer. I have so many cars for that reason, until I get my nitro sedan, ive been "bashing" somewhat my Mugen, but once my 2nd gas car arrives, it will get the task and my racer goes to the shelf. Thats the way I look at it anyway, the decision is yours my friend. Hey, where in SoCal are you?
OK, I finally got up a joke!
George Bush and Colin Powell are sitting in a cafe discussing the course of action for the war against Saddam and Iraq.
A young man approachs and asks " WOW President Bush, Mr Powell, What are you doing in this Cafe?" "Discussing our next course of action in Iraq, " Says G W. "Oh", replies the man, "what do you have in mind?"
Well, we hope to drop a beautiful large breasted blonde and a large bomb into Saddams HQ, in the hopes of wiping out Saddam and his hundreds of followers.
" OH MY GOSH" replied the man, why would you drop a beautiful large breasted blonde?"
G W turns to Powell and punches him in the arm, " See, i told you no one would notice the loss of hundreds of Iraqis."
Shamefull i know! Honestly Im not in favor of any kind of death to anyone, foreign OR domestic.

hehe... I guess that qualifies me as TURE racer. When I got the HPI NRS4 RTR, I upgraded so much now only the original parts are front and rear suspension arm sets, bulkhead sets, bumper and antenna holder. I actually put together all those spare parts and extra that came with sets to made one complete NRS4. (gave this one away to friend of mine.)
and my V1S... now it looks a lot like V1R... I even wonder why I bother to get new V1R.
Only reason why I was thinking about getting the RTR or Kit was to upgrading it a piece by piece. Adam Drake Edition takes the fun out of upgrading it. And want to look unique... <---- hint, hint, hint (SV-10 owners):D

Happy Monday Everyone! Hope everyone had a good weekend.
So I was flipping through the pages of an old RCCA (Jan, 2000) and in the back I came accross an article on " Tuning and Modifying" the SV10. So being the Great guy that i am, I thought I would post some info up here. This is a good starting point, however every track is different.
Im not sure what all is available in terms of hop-ups, but here goes.
Front End
Pistons: No 1, "two holes"
Oil: Associated 80 wt. silicone oil
Springs: HPI Purple
Preload Shock Spacer: 2mm, lower holes used for top shock mount
Camber: -1 degree
Caster: 0
Toe-In: 0
Rear End
Pistons: No 2, "1 hole"
Oil: Associated 80 wt. silicone oil
Springs: Kawada "F"
Preload Shock Spacer: 1 mm
Shock Mounting Holes used: Lower hole for top shock mount, Inside hole for lower shock mount.
Camber: -2 Degrees
Toe-in: 1.25 Degrees
It also lists a bunch of hop-ups available for the SV10, but im not sure some of the stuff is available. I'll have to get in touch with the US distributor here and see what they have. Looks like in the article they went to a machined Steering knuckle and C hubs.
Dennis,

Hello guys!
It's been a while since I get to sit in front of computer. I've been busy at work. and at home.... my little girl is on spring break.
I actually had quater day off yesterday, so I head to the race track.:D It was great to drive the whole track all by myself...
unfortunately, didn't last 20 mins. after warming up my engine, I took the nasty hit and two of the rims were broke. Drove down to the hobby shop and picked up whole sets of tires and drove again.... later in about 5 min. another nasty hit on same spot (found out it was very oily on that spot just before the turn) and broke off the sterring servo and lost one of the dogbone. Servo saver couldn't save the servo at all.
At least servo was feebie ones that come with radio, so didn't hurt that much on my pocket but I had to quit for a day cause of that. Now I will carry extra servo, just in case.;)
My electronics on SV-10.....
JR XR2 AM radio with RX and servo.
Tekin 700 Pro ESC
P2K2 Pro Stock motor
All of my high end electronics are on my Nitros...:D except for that servo on my back up RC.

The tourist doesn't insist any furhter, but after a dozen of beers he says"gimmme the bttle o' Tequilla"and starts drinking it w/o moving his face fro an inch"empty, now where's the darn dog" Goes out and what comes reaches the utter level of pain imagination. Well, a little trick to the Kawada is i actualy run harder springs in the back than o do in the front. I think silvers (front) and blacks (rear) work pretty good. 80w oil in all 4 shocks. Cant tell u a piston cuz im running express shocks, so they will be different, but just use ur best judgement. If you have a one way pulley, that work wonderfuly on asphault. Try a light sway bar in front with it and see how it works. I only ran both sway bars for the first time indoors this year to "balance" the car out a little and stiffen it up some. Out side i usualy just like the front sway bar thow, but give them both a shot and see what works.
A benifit of the Kawada is it is SOOO adjustable so play around with the kick up and stuff in the front, roll center makes a HUGE change in how a car handles, and one way combos. Last part of the summer i ran the car with both a one way pulley and one way diff. It takes skill to drive but if u can pull it off, it carries speed like none other. So, i hope that helps.

Hey fellas!!
I'm happy to announce that I'm a proud owner of an immaculate SV-10. I recently just purchased it off of E-Bay. What a steal. 2 brand new chassis's (including the narrow version KawadaKid is talking about). I don't race but I plan on making it in to a show car. I'm gonna hook it up with as much GPM Racing hop-ups I can find. Has anyone found any Kawada distributors besides Kawadausa yet?
If anyone is interested there is another SV-10 on E-Bay for $99.00 . It is from the same seller I purchased mine from and his cars are well maintained. Unfortunately, this one doesn't have the narrow chassis otherwise I might have purchased it. If anyone is interested it's item # 3128290566.
Here are some pics of the narrow chassis!!!

ok, so im a little frustrated with this new car. ( Don't Worry miguel, its not the car)
Im in the process of wiring new electronics into the new Wada. I have used 2 different ESCs and still can't get any speed from the motor. I tried different motors, i tried different ESCs and even batteries. Nothing seems to make a difference.
I can pull the trigger full throttle, and it acts like I have only 1/4 throttle. I used a fairly new ATOM Esc and a HiTEC HFX esc and got the same results. Mod and stock motors, makes no difference.
Oh well, I'll keep trying.

Must say a fellow japanese kawada fan once told me that the sv10 alc2 is a far better car on asfalt/asphalt???, than it is on carpet, when has to be said........IT'S TRUE!!!!! cause I won my very first race, hey who cares if it was a demo race, a win is a win.
It can even be improved idf I can find the right set of tires and inserts, I did this one on carpet race tires, they were good between lap 3-12 (over a 5 min race), then it starts sliding and losing grip, and no matter how hard I try, softer springs or other sway bar, or adding some more neg.camber, need some decent asphalt tires and inserts??
Any suggetions, guys,?? Guys?? hey guys???,

i just started getting my SV10 back out to get ready for Carpet season! Did some intersting mods...
For one, i put a rear shock tower on the front...it stands the front shocks up more give it a little less roll.
I also played around with the car on my setup stand to see what changing the rear hinge pin position on the hub would do. i moved it towards the wheel and in the top position.
I also decided to go with a one-way up front.
I will see if i can get some new pics soon.

At last someone's still interested in these pages, how are you
Kawakid?
have to tell you at first-a mistake I made w/out knowing-I putted the front shock to the rear and the car flew, untill I had a re-build, no crash just maintenance;), I noticed the mistake been driving ever since now, ordered the Ultimate rear shock tower with only 3 holes but in a arch, seems will have to do some drilling to make a few more holes.
Has to be said I didn't use the front way on carpet, did have fr+rear stab set though, if you have them don't overtighten them.
Will give you my setup as of tomorrow.
Take care, keep in touch.

Greetings,
Well, i don't have a chassis shot of my SV10, but i have a pic of my SV10 under my Trueno shell. I'll try and get a camera and get more pics soon.
I converted my SV10 to RWD. Too bad i had to cut a set of universals to make it work, but thats what 2 cars are for. PARTS!

Ive been Kicking Butt with my Kawada SV10. Weve been indoors for two weeks now and ive qualified and finnished 2nd both weeks, only to be out done by my KC-Racing (www.kc-racing.com) team mate Dave. Im going to the US Indoor champs in Cleveland OH over thanx giving so wish me luck. Im very confident this year especialy with the help of GS Racing and KC-racing.
BTW i can get picks of my front end mod with the shock tower. MAJOR improvement in handling. it enters corners really fast now with less roll on the front. I still have to get the car leaving corners faster cuz thats where im losing about 2-3 tenths of a second. anyhow, ill keep u all posted.

a few things to check
1-check the one-way bearings to see if they are bad ,would make like a skipping-slipping sound, and check that if you only have a one way diff in the front
2-make sure that all set screws used in the axle are in all the way and are not hitting the hubs or outdrives.
3-and this is the one i think it could be !!! from the way you describe it ,it sound like you may have stripped out our steering servo in on direction.the servo may still work but it will make a vibrating type noise if a gear inside is bad.and it may lock into position.
and can test it by holding on to the servo horn ,turn it in each direction and the side that sounds like it is skipping means a bad servo and time to replace it or the gears in side ,also you can open the servo up and look at the teeth on the gears, just one tooth missing can cause a big problem.
4-CHECK OVER EVERYTHING IN THE FRONT TO MAKE SURE IT IS PUT TOGETHER RIGHT!!!
hope this helps

i do not have one way diffs. no teeth are missing on the servo (kinda hard to trip metal gears). the only time when the car makes the vibrating scratching noise is when turning while moving (kinda sounds like then chassis hits the ground, but its not. I don't think the front or rear end was built properly, i got the car par-built. I'll try rebuilding them.
thanks

let me know what you find out .also check the spur gear and pinion for damaged teeth and make sure that all of the pulleys are free of debris.just a couple more things to check.never heard of anybody having a problem with a alcyon like what your having.it will end up being something stupid and easily over looked!
