Today I took my Mega Force in the woods. Man I love this truck it was climbing everything and i was jumpin huge jumps and this truck wouldnt break. It also picks up a lot of speed considering it is a one speed. If ur planing on getting a nitro MT get the Mega Force it is a great truck i love mine and i cant wait for hop ups to come out.

Archerboi
02-27-2002, 08:51 PM
I am thinking to get one also :p How does the truck run? And how durable is it?

DaMaXXer
02-27-2002, 08:55 PM
This truck is very durable and since i bought it which was a week ago I havent broke a part yet and I have been riding it in the woods and jumpin it too. I have one complaint about it though. The steering on this truck really sucks well atleast for me but right now there workin on an upgrade to make it 4WS. Besides that I love my Mega Force and would recomend it to anyone.:D

Archerboi
02-27-2002, 09:36 PM
Sounds like a winner to me, but what is wrong with the steering? And who may make parts for it? Thanks. :)

DaMaXXer
02-28-2002, 07:31 AM
The problem with the steering is it seems sometimes it doesnt want to turn in one direction but it will turn in the other direction. But when I drive it in the woods like where theres lots of bumps and rocks its steers great cause it seems the rocks help it steer and the rocks push the tires in someway. I think Kyosho is making the hop ups unlike all the other companies that make T Maxx Hop Ups, but I am not sure. :D

Also if u want more info on the Mega Force go to www.rcmt.net and then go to the board u will see it in big writing and then scroll down and u will see the Mega Force Forum.

DaMaXXer
02-28-2002, 07:34 AM
Kyosho is the only company that makes all the replacement parts for it now. But since the truck just came out thats normal but pretty soon there will prolly be other companies makin the parts like Hop ups.

How easy is the Mega Force to start:confused: And what is the run time:confused: I'm considering getting one;)

RCtinkerman

Well, nobody answered my question and I really wanted to know so, I bought one today.:D Tomorrow I'll answer my own question.:p

DaMaXXer
03-09-2002, 02:14 PM
Hey opps sorry thought I posted it but it starts real easy with the kyosho easy starter. I havent had a problem starting it since i got it. U gety a really long run time with a full tank i dont fill the tank all the way cause its so long of a run time.

RCtinkerman
03-09-2002, 07:45 PM
Great! Well, I'm gettin' ready to go the park now:D I'll tell you about when I return. DaMaxxer, I'll see if I have the same steering situation.

RCtinkerman
03-10-2002, 12:52 AM
AWESOME! That truck is great, fast, indestructable you name it. The only problem I encountered was every so often when it's up against something it won't go into reverse. I'm sure if I play with it more I'll figure something out. You are right again 'D', a full gas tank lasts forever. This truck is much more fun than I had imagined. T-Maxxers should be looking over their shoulders cus' the MegaForce smokes!!!!!!:D :D :D

RCtinkerman
03-10-2002, 02:11 PM
DaMaXXer, what did you do to break yours in. I only ran about a tank through it before I cut loose. No problems though.:D Folks this thing jumps, climbs stairs, goes through high weeds you name it. Oh, and it has very good breaks, hit them going full out and you'll flip back over front. But fear not, you'll land back on all fours:D :D :p

DaMaXXer
03-10-2002, 03:08 PM
Hey glad to hear u like the truck. Well when I broke my engine in the first tank i started it up and i just let it idle through the hole tank. The 2nd tank i ran it slowly on pavement and on the 3rd I increased the speed and really drove it. By the way are you having any trouble with your steering? Thanx:D

RCtinkerman
03-11-2002, 05:56 PM
None at all. Check your transmitter to see everything is adjusted right. Especially that wheel above your thumb and below the steering knob.

RCtinkerman
03-12-2002, 10:36 AM
You know with all the other trucks coming out, I don't think this truck is getting it's due. Everything is built really strong for durability. It's only weak point that I can see is the cheap plastic bumpers. Those will be the first to go when the hop-ups come out. Everything else looks strong and is made to last. I'd like to see a head to head with the Mega Force and T-Maxx straight stock. My money is on the Mega Force!:D

ofna_Kdog
03-13-2002, 09:46 PM
Hey Tinkerman... How many tanks of fuel have you run?
Most of the time you should break in for at least four tanks of fuel before you let it rip. If you didn't break it in properly this time you can always do it next rebuild =)

DaMaXXer
03-14-2002, 07:42 AM
Kyosho says to only use 2-3 tanks for break-in. I guess thats why the Kyosho GS15 motor is the best.:D ;)

RCtinkerman
03-14-2002, 11:54 AM
All total now I've run 5 tanks through. But I did kinda let it rip after about a tank and a half. After the first tank I ran it around the park hills and such. Half way through that I started climbing and jumping and then I had to know......How Fast Could It Go!:D
All seemd well though. But I am kinda new to Nitro:eek:

DaMaXXer
03-14-2002, 06:49 PM
Well today while jumping fences my exhaust pipe ripped right out of my truck with half of the coupler on it and the other half on the other part. Ripped the coupler right in half. I can still run it but just slow on pavement. I am going to upgrade to a GS coupler now.

DeMaXXer, I replaced the plastic zip ties on the coupler with metal auto hose clamps (small ones). This made the whole exhaust unit much stronger:D TRY IT!

i know that its a bit off topic but i want to know if someone knows if the parts from Mega Force would fit to Kyosho wild dodge ram, i have one with same GS-15R engine as Mega Force, but i woul like to know about other parts like tranny or slippery clutch, every help will be appreciated

RCtinkerman
03-17-2002, 03:29 PM
I have a Wild Dodge Ram also, I don't think the parts are interchangeable. The tranny on the MF is slightly beefier. I'm at work now, but when I go home tonight I'll have a closer look for you and post the answer, ok?;)

-=ADA$=-
03-17-2002, 04:45 PM
i believe that your right about the tranny, but if move engine, a bit in a side, and make more space for tranny in the chasis, it would fit, but this is the reason that i would like to change it, cause its befier,

RCtinkerman
03-23-2002, 10:50 PM
Mega Force is just a stronger truck all the way around:D I ordered a new body from Tower, once I get that and change the bumpers she'll be a new improved truck!

03-27-2002, 11:03 PM
My friend just bought a megaforce and we were readin RCCA today and we read that you could get a 2 speed tranny for one, he would like to know who makes them how much they are and how to get his hands on one, thanks.

DaMaXXer
03-29-2002, 02:01 PM
Clint were did you here that. There are no hop ups out at all for this truck and diffently not a 2 speed. Where did you see that? LMk

03-30-2002, 02:37 PM
Allright, who else out there has a MegaForce. I acquired mine for $200 and couldn't pass up the deal (it only had 1 tank run through it at the time). So far, I have replaced the rims (the previous owner smashed into a Mailbox and broke a rim... and the engine wasn't properly broken in yet). So, I finished breaking it in. The rims that are on it now, are from one of the Ofna trucks... they fit but are a little large... and unfortunately... have a slight wobble (took most of it out by shimming with 2 washers). I've upgraded to an XR3 radio (so I can finally get gas/brake and reverse). I'm going to upgrade to new rims and tires once I destroy the ones I have. I love the engine... set once and don't really need to touch it after that. She jumps well! I have broken it a little... and need to repalce parts... so I'm looking for people who have modded theirs or replaced with different stuff.

As for breakage... My son has broken the front bulkhead bumper mounts. I have replaced the left front arms from a crash (inwhich my front dogbone was bent and drive cup is now chipped). I've also broken the front chassis brace and lost the front drive shaft. Does anyone know if there are any other replacements besides Kyosho's? Theirs seem on the brittle side. I'm hoping to maybe use T-Maxx RPM skid plates and chassis braces... is it a no go?

CTRallyRacer2
03-31-2002, 12:55 AM
I read that too... but it was for the QRC tranny... not specifically for the MegaForce. I think it mentioned their other QRC trucks... (the Dodge Ram I believe was one of them). I would think it would fit... but probably do some damage since you'd have to remove the slipper to put that on (and I jump my truck way too much to give up the slipper)...

03-31-2002, 02:57 AM
I am glad to see someone saying nice things about the Mega-Force, You hear alot of bad talk, but I have read up on it and it's not so bad..........I don't own one, but it sure looks killer. good luck with it..

old phart
03-31-2002, 03:36 AM
I am enjoying my Mega Force. I have broken some stuff due to crashing. I ran full speed into a concrete barrier (got distracted) and managed to break both front bulkheads; skid; and damaged the steering posts. Replaced it all and now the truck just runs great. I have found it to be an excellent hill climber, and doing mild jumps it is great. I don't try jumping over buildings like some guys seem to want to do, so in my opinion it jumps 'reasonable' obstacles just fine.

There are no known hop-ups outside of Kyosho at this time. But lots of interest is being generated in this truck, and end users are reporting favorably about it so it's just a matter of time till the aftermarket stuff comes out.

Mike Sneed
03-31-2002, 03:44 AM
I can't remember is it fan cooled?

CTRallyRacer2
03-31-2002, 10:44 AM
There is a fan attached to the back of the flywheel. It's kinda neat. I'm getting used to tuning a Force P4 motor in my Ofna MBX and once I get used to it... I will most likely find a way to put it into my Kyosho... while I upgrade to a 2.5hp motor in the Ofna. Should be fun... just have to make sure everything works well before I do so...

RCtinkerman
03-31-2002, 03:44 PM
I for one love this truck. So far so good, I haven't broken anything. The truck starts fine, runs great! As I previously stated elsewhere, the only thing about this truck I don't like is the body and I'm waiting on my order from Tower Hobbies to arrive and take care of that. I ordered a Parma Ford F150 body. Anyway I feel this is a great truck especially for beginners in Nitro like myself. It's sure to catch on big time:D

CTRallyRacer2
04-01-2002, 11:40 PM
I was taking a good look at the MegaForce today... and as I looked at it... there was little room in there to swap out the stock .15 for a .21. Unless I had the pipe somehow hangine off of the chassis with piano wire. Hmm... now that I think of it... I could always go for the big rig look... and have the pipe up in the air... and when the body is attached, extend the exhaust exit out the top like big rig... the onl bad thing would be trying to clean out the excess oil... then again... with my luck... it would flow back into the motor and damage it.

RCtinkerman
04-04-2002, 04:22 PM
Well I finally got the body from Tower to replace the ugly stock one:D Now all I want to do is replace the cheap looking plastic bumpers. Anyone have any ideas:confused:

04-05-2002, 11:26 AM
well when you say its stronger than ram, than your mistaken, cause it has same engine as my ram, and i think that ram, is some lighter, so its a bit faster, and have greate acceleration, but the 2-speed, would be quickly destroyed, because, if you would hit throttle, it would change to second gear, and when landing, it would breake, all gears, but the best idea would be to make 2-speed slippery on each gear, it would be furious fast, and safe for truck, and there are also side guards for qrc, front one-way diff, and i would ask for explaining me what is the difference of one way, and how is it better, there is also blue anodized head, you can find everything in tower, but i counted that all upgrades would be almost $200, have fun with your trucks

DaMaXXer
04-05-2002, 11:50 AM
Hey would the blue head by a good upgrade. Will it make the motor cooler cause it doesnt look much bigger but i really like it. The blue on the head will match the chassis plus i got plenty of money to spend on this truck.

r.c.dealer
04-05-2002, 01:12 PM
You can also get a viscuos coupler for the QRC Ram and Beetle. It allows you to adjust the amount of power that goes to the front and rear wheels. Pretty cool stuff. I don't know if it works with the Megaforce though.

-=ADA$=-
04-05-2002, 02:59 PM
i dont know if it will make it cooler cause i think that gold is better in "throwing" away heat, but it looks cooler, and i think that viscous coupler, would work like slippery clutch, of course i might be wrong, so correct me if im.

RCtinkerman
04-06-2002, 11:56 PM
-=ADA$=-, I have a Ram as well. When I said the Mega Force is a stronger truck, it is. I'm referring to frame construction not motor. Their only similiarity is the motor, even the QRC in the Mega Force is beefier.

RCtinkerman
04-07-2002, 12:54 AM
Here's the new body, I think it looks better:D

-=ADA$=-
04-07-2002, 05:37 AM
ok than i agree with you, if its about construction i agree, and the 2shock on each wheel, but can you look, if the slippery clutch fit the ram, cause i would buy one, just to be secure, and i would think of some shocks for ram cause i noticed that 3-3,5" lenght would fit but what would be good choice???? of course for jumping

DaMaXXer
04-07-2002, 07:04 PM
Today while driving my truck i noticed that the 2 front tires where only moving. When i lifted the front end up and gave the truck throttle the front tires would only spin and it sdounds like stripping of gears. It seems that my rear tires dont spin when there touching the ground cause when I lifted the hole truck in the air the front and rear spun. What do you think can be stoping the rear tires from moving when there touching the ground. Can it be the Hub on the trans be loose I tightened it and it still happens. I have no clue what it is so any help would be great. Thanx

CTRallyRacer2
04-07-2002, 08:51 PM
Check the outdrives from both the tranny and rear diff, make sure they aren't slipping (they may be catching enough to move the tires when a load is not present).

-=ADA$=-
04-08-2002, 01:21 AM
you wont believe but same thing happend to me same day, you have to put hex wrench into these little holes on both sides of the diff, and tighten the screw, but what did you have front or rear drive, i had front, and it was making greate slide turns on grass,

DaMaXXer
04-08-2002, 08:26 PM
Hey i checked the outdrives and the one in the rear was loose so I threadlocked it back on. Well atleast the little screw that goes into it. I also just bought 17mm hubs for th mega and i am going to put those new ofna MT3 rims on my truck.

tower hobby and omnimodels.com carry the parts but you need to knoe the part numbers and because the truck is so new you will have some what a hard time geting some parts but the truck is bad a--:D

Thanks. I will check it out. Now one more question, I know you need a 3 channel for brake and reverse, but were does the 3rd servo mount? I seen the report in RCCA but I cannot tell were the 3rd servo goes. Thanks again.

CTRallyRacer2
04-30-2002, 11:40 PM
Remove the center cam, and either move the throttle servo to the center position and add a servo for reverse (as I did), or just add a new throttle/brake servo and use the stock servo where it use, just change it to reverse duties.

Has anyone tried making the truck into a 4 wheel steering truck?

Archerboi
05-01-2002, 09:39 AM
That sounds easy enough. How hard is it to change radios?

CTRallyRacer2
05-02-2002, 10:56 AM
The more I think about it, how would I be able to utilize the second steering servo, to steer in the opposite direction? Is there a special harness for that? I figured on using a "Y" harness, but this presents a different problem.

CTRallyRacer2
05-03-2002, 10:15 PM
Changing radios is simple, just remove the previous receiver and swap in a 2-3 channel model (3 channel suggested) and off you go.

Hi there.

Just bought a MegaForce, before buying it, I already gather information from RCMT everything about MF, like engine mounting getting loose, 4WD not working, steering adjusment and driveshaft too much play.

All that problems were solved. I choose forward and brake setting. And I'm quite satisfied with MF and last sunday, I drove it on a yard that lookalike a red desert. Full throttle and full of dirt, everything were covered with the red dirt, like muffler, fuel box, qrc unit.

Fueling three times and god... it was good! I like this MF ! but I don't make any jumping with this MF cuz don't have time to built a ramp. And maybe wheelie is a trick that a MF can't do it cuz the size of engine.

And does anyone already use a universal driveshaft??

spyderpug
09-03-2002, 08:27 PM
There's one thing forgot to report!! :)

After driving in "red desert", I found that oil is leaking from the shocks.
I asked to my hobbyshop, they said, it's normal cuz oil shocks is not thick enough so it will leak anyway. They said I have to change the oil with the thick one.

Are you guys have the same problem??

dickson123
09-30-2002, 05:57 PM
I was thinking of getting a Mega Force. Does it have enough power to wheelie, cos some people say it can and others say otherwise.

spyderpug
09-30-2002, 07:48 PM
Yes, it can wheelie, but not easy. The way to do that is, first make a reverse and then snap on forward, it'll wheelie.
But I think it's not recommeded cuz can make the QRC gear tears appart.

That's the only way to make wheelie on MF, u can not just take a full throttle on forward and wheelie. May be if u change the engine with the bigger one.

dickson123
10-01-2002, 05:11 PM
Is there any way to put a 2 speed on the MF, and have one really high ratio and one really low, so it can wheelie and go fast also, without removing the slipper clutch?

i was looking for a mad force in the UK and i couldnt find one anywhere, i think its only a japan/ america truck, unless you get one off ebay or something. thats why i got the Mega force

alvin1
10-02-2002, 05:36 PM
i've received an email from ripmax uk telling me that the madforce is not a stocked item, and they do not know if they will be getting them in.they went on to say that if i wanted to make an enquiry about a special order,i would have to do this through my local model shop.........................not good!

Nitro_Newboy
10-02-2002, 05:41 PM
i can see that being rip off expensive, just go with a mega force, very nice. and they make a cool revving noise when you let go of the throttle and the QRC shifts to neutral:D

alvin1
10-02-2002, 07:56 PM
hmm maybe,or i may just go for an ek4,better still would be to wait for an updated version of the ek4,{mind you we could be waiting awhile for that in the uk**;)

dickson123
10-03-2002, 05:31 PM
Where abouts in UK/Scotland can you get the thunder tiger ek4 s2 and what is the average cost. also, who distributes it if not ripmax.

thanks

Nitro_Newboy
10-03-2002, 06:06 PM
The EK4 is made by thunder tiger and has a huge engine in, too much power if anything, i have had a go with one and you blip the throttle and the truck nearly flips, and if you are a beginner, steer well clear, this thing will kill someone if you cant handle it right!!!

and you can expect to pay about £500 for a EK4

www.modelsportuk.com is usually one of the first RC shops you want to look at in my experience cos they have the widest range of stuff and deliver anywhere in UK, very handy for me aswell, cos the actual shop is only 16 miles form where i live.

alvin1
10-03-2002, 06:55 PM
i wish i only lived 16 miles from a decent model shop, there don't seem to be many decent modelshops where i live.it's all mail order for me,and spares ....................well thats another story!

Nitro_Newboy
10-03-2002, 06:59 PM
hehe i actually have 2, modelsport and P&S which is in yourk, the man who owns it knows everything about RC, and he wont steer you wrong, if you go in for a part for say, ooh £15 and there is one which will work just as good for £4, he will get you the £4 one, he is also a authorised ripmax dealer, which is just super duper.
yea i said it:p

wow, it really does make a difference to what the truck looks like if you get a true 1/10 scale truck shell for it. It looks way more realsitic

If you are wondering the shell im using is a ProLine ProtoForm 1999 Chevy SilveradoSS Sport Truck, this is the 190mm touring car version of the shell, not the truck version for stampede or T-maxx
you can really see how much wider it is, makes it look way better i think

heres the standard shell

I wire tie my body pins onto the shell so that if a pin pops off while driving it, it dosnt get lost, also they dont get lost when i take the pins out , they are always on the shell.

I cut a hole in the back window for the antenna for a bit of rollover protection, because the antenna is now bent over, if the truck flips either forward or backward while going off a jump or something, (which it has, many times) the antenna straw doesnt get snapped off.

The wire around the antenna straw is the antenna wire, there is a lot spare coming out of the end of the antenna tube, but you have to have the wire coming out as far as it can or it restricts the range a lot. So i wound it round the antenna straw, fastened it with some insulation tape and put an antenna cap on the top to hold the coil.

So antenna straw itself will restrict/reduce the range of wave from the controller that will receive by the receiver?

or cuz the straw position right now is horizontal not vertical anymore? and we need to attached the wire around the straw to make the receiver can capture more wave from controller.

no what i mean is, even if it was vertical, if there is 16 inches of antenna wire but only 12 inches of antenna straw, you still have to pull the antenna right through and have 4 inches hanging out of the end, if you bundle it up inside the radio box, it restricts range, so i pulled it all the way through but to tidy it up i taped it around my antenna straw

There is no 2 speed made for this truck, I contacted Kyosho and they said they never made one. There is plenty of room in the engine area. You might even be able to put in a .21

Right now, the one and only aluminum aftermarket skids available for the Mega Force are on a clearance sale for only $24.95! I have these skids and they are awesome. Get them while they are still available. Normally $39.95!

Here is the website selling them, Vertigo:

I just finished converting my Mega Force from the stock forward/reverse clunking to a full forward/reverse with brakes!

I used the R-Box device made by XTM and it makes your 2 channel radio work like a 3 channel. Just add a 3rd servo, install the R-Box and you're good to go.

Sweet! I salute the electronic engineer who figured that one out! :D

But when I pull the plug wire and I use the glow plug heater and start the engine and then engine is running.

Does anybody have the same problem?

old phart

spyderpug: sounds like the glow plug part of the starting system is not working. Could be due to a weak starter battery. Or a shorted out wire to the glow plug.

I got a couple questions is there any performance parts for this truck?i got the cylinder head and a t maxx filter on it but still not as fast as i qould like it to be.Also whats a good pipe to put on this truck?and is there any wheels out there that will fit this thing or an adapter to make other wheels fit?these wheels are to big..Thanks for any help

Southern_Pride
07-19-2003, 03:07 PM
no there really arent any performance parts for it. any pipe is better than stock. i took a nitro stampede header and gas line for a real car and a stock t maxx pip with baffle remoived made mine rear exaust. it now lite up all four tires on command

old phart
07-20-2003, 12:55 PM
There is a baffle in the stock pipe. It can be removed. I don't know if it helps performance or not, but probably.

You can also change from 20% to 30% nitro fuel. That will make a difference.

The Mega Force is actually designed to be more like a real monster truck, so it is geared for torque and climbing ability which it excells at. And the large tires are part of that equation. If you want to make it into something it was never designed to be, then go ahead and change tires, pipes, etc and who knows what you will end up with. Or just buy a T-Maxx.

My buddy just bought a Mega Force. I helped him choose this truck based on looks, features, and mostly price.

I am wondering how this truck will perform compared to my T-maxx. I am also not clear how the forward/reverse/brake works.

It seems that a 2 channel remote would be missing one of those features. Does the reverse act like a brake?

Thanx Brian

Sweet engine swap !! What mods were in order for the install?

Kmot
07-24-2004, 01:51 PM
Hi Nitro Escape,

The new T-15 from HPI worked out so well because it has a dual mounting capability. Meaning you can use regular engine mounts; or use the threaded holes at the bottom of the engine case. That is how I mounted it. If you are familiar with the Kyosho engines you know about the weird mounting system and plate they use. The T-15 just mounts flat on the chassis using 4 bolts. So in order to install the T-15 you just need to drill and slot 4 new holes for the bolt pattern!

The existing Kyosho cooling fan, flywheel, and clutch all bolt up. So does the exhaust header and pipe. I found out the header and pipe both have restrictions so I drilled them out so they would flow better and I cut off the cone inside the pipe, leaving the o-ring and collar for sealing purposes.

I also mounted the cooling fan shroud, which required drilling 2 more new holes and had to slightly trim the top of the shroud for the carb on the T-15.

This new T-15 from HPI is one sweet motor!! And now the Mega Force is one sweet truck!

Nitro Escape
07-31-2004, 03:44 PM
Good infos !! I'll be ordering up that engine tonite for one of my MFs.
Exhaust restrictions: I've already done away with the cone in the pipe (with improved tuning and idle), so, what exactly do I need to do, to open up the header pipe?
Shame we can't use the starter stuff from the Kyosho motor on the HPI.
I really don't want to plunk down the bucks for a roto start system. Looks like I may be a "puller" on this one.

Kmot
08-01-2004, 11:28 PM
If you look in the header, you will notice the round hole part is tapered. It is not the same diameter all the way through. Same with the stinger, or tip, at the end of the pipe. I drilled them out so that they were stright through all the way instead of tapered.

I installed the Roto Start. I never even tried the pull start. I did have some difficulties starting the engine so I am glad I had the Roto. Now that it is broken in it starts easy. So be prepared for maybe some hard starting at first with the pull start system.

I took my MF out and ran it in the dirt on a small track we have at work. This T-15 rips! The truck is easily twice as fast as before with the GS-15 and the acceleration is brutal! You are gonna smile at the difference!

Nitro Escape
08-02-2004, 01:11 PM
Thanks again, Kmot !! I haven't ordered up yet. Waiting to see if the Girl Friend wants one for her MF.
Fuel: I have a couple gallons of 10%/18% and 15%/18% sitting around, would either of these be okay for breaking in and running, or do I need to get some 20%?
How's the stock clutch holding up to the new power? I have already changed out ours for the 3pc aluminum set, so, I know we are good to go on that deal.

I broke in the T-15 engine on Powermaster 10/18 and then switched to XTM 20/10. So far the stock clutch is holding up well. It never got really used anyway with the GS-15!http://www.fototime.com/A61575F486DE88D/standard.jpg

That Hummer body ain't no dog either !!! Very, very sharp !!

The GF and I both drive Ford Escapes, so when we got into Nitro MT's, naturally we wanted Escape bodies for our trucks. Just so happens that Mattel makes an Escape for, of all things, "Barbie", in 1/10 scale... PERFECT !!
Lots of cutting, and painting and such, and TADA... We have Nitros that favor our real vehicles.
The wheels on mine (blue one) are the originals, with the centers from the original Escape model's wheels clipped in. (The centers have 3 "fingers" that clip into 3 slots that I Dremeled into the MF's wheels)

Man, sometimes you have to love what you hate. Of the 3 MF's I have charge of keeping running, the GF's has actually always ran pretty consistently, and a used one I got from an ebay seller does well also. It's the frikkin' one that is MY new one that runs crappy at times. (too much lately) It's the one I want to get the new engine for. Anyway, on the "love / hate" thing... I decided today, that I would take mine out and thrash the snot out of it, trying my utter best to blow that dang contrary motor so I would have a better excuse to get the HPI 15. Well, I couldn't do it !! I leaned it out as far as possible and it keep running, I had the idle so high that it sounded like a jet or something, I held it off the ground and revved the crap out of it a bunch of times, and when on the ground, I kept the throttle nailed for most of an hour and a half, I thought surely this thing can't keep going... but it did !! The stupid thing won't run right, and it won't die !! I finally got tired of "the game" I was having with it, and gave up. I can now vouch for the toughness of the GS15R, if not for it's running consistency.

Kmot
08-08-2004, 01:34 AM
LOL... :D

It's too bad about the GS-15. Kyosho made a great engine, and then ruined it with the funkiest carb design ever. I took my GS-15 apart and was very impressed with the quality of the parts and the CNC machining. The whole thing is moot though with that carb.

Hello folks,

I just joined the forum... are there any MegaForce fans left here?

Got my MF yesterday---it's a really great truck. Have some RC cars already, a fleet of mini-z's, a few 1/18th electrics, and recently got the Mad Force and Kyosho Pureten Alpha as well to start tinkering with nitro cars.

It seems that the disc brake is somehow clogged in my MF after running some 5 tanks of fuel through it.... I'm going to just remove the brake mechanism since I'm not gonna use it, at least if I don't get a 3ch radio set.

Hey, just any motor with approximately the same size (380?) will do. The starter motor on my megaforce failed as well---the original was some super cheap motor with bushings that finally had some 2 millimeters slack and ruined the the pinions inside the starter mechanism.

I took some ball bearing motor I had bought for my 1/18 electric cars and installed that to the MF and had no problems with the starter since then... the only tricky thing was to get the brass pinion out from the starter motor axle...

Wow, I just notice the existing of this forum after such along period. Anyway, my bro has a MF. Upgraded the stock engine head to the big blue one, bigger exhaust, higher performance clutch, Sanwa M7 3 channel radio and high torque servos. Most importantly, we managed to modified it to be a 2-speed transmission using V-one parts and custom made shaft+engine mounting. Amazing speed, performance drivability. Handles well especially with the high torque servo used. Acceleration is awesome for a .15. Damaged done so far are to the suspension system but nothing critical. The differential gears and the forward+reverse gears had been changed twice til now. I would recommend the modification to anyone and it would greatly revive the MF with its new found performance.

Parts for the truck can be had here. (http://www.shopkyosho.com/index/410.0.12068.12069.0.0.0)

On another note, if anyone would like to sell their truck, and not throw it away, I would like to buy it from you. I am disabled and dont have much money, but I have a little, and have some stuff around here I may be able to trade you for your mega force suck as computer parts, psp games, my first born :)
