I'm in the Market for a New truck. I have a T-maxx I'm almost Satified with at this point but as we all know it takes some money to make it perform. So I was looking around and setteled on the Monster Pirate. But then I wen to the LHS and my dream was shattered. He said if you want a real .21 monster just buy another T-maxx and make it a .21? What do you guys think. Is the MP worth the purchase or should I just go and share common parts with buying anothe T-maxx if I just gonna have to pour money into the Mp to make it perform? Thanks for the help in advance.

What would I do?

I have a T-Maxx and MP now. I'm about to buy another MP.

I say get the MP. If all else fails, you can always do this to it:

Ah man thats a nice truck. About how much did you spend to put that together if you don't mind me asking and I have another question since you have an MP. I pretty much know the T-maxx is a good truck and I was happy with it stock will I feel the same or am I gonna wait weeks for parts and have all sorts of little troubles before I can make it a beast like your machine?

For a welth of .21 T-Maxx info go visit this site:
http://pub13.ezboard.com/bmaxximumtraxxas

Be prepared to spend some $$$ to make that T handle .21 power, plenty people do it--I will ne one of them one day but its going to cost---the T-Maxx is one bad truck when its properly built with the .21

Project Twin:: that is a very nice MP--wouldnt mind having one of those too!!

once you replace all the stock parts on a t-maxx, is it still a t-maxx? ;)
and why not just buy all the replacement parts instead of the stock truck and save $400?

Does anyone have any idea how much it cost to build a .21tmaxx from the ground up. reson being I have the money to get the MP now. But if a .21 T-maxx is gonna give me more flexiablity and fun to build I'll start with a .21 aftermarket Kit and go for broke. I really haven't seen or heard much about the pirate unless it's on one of their boards which doesn't help much. Better Yet can some one answer this question when I got my Maxx I wasn't happy b/c as we all know the stock engine is crap and you break a couple of things jumping it. So will I have the same kind of issues with the Pirate or will I be able to drive it a month before I have to fix something.

Now that there are SO many after market companies building parts for RC vehicles, you can definitely build your own truck literally from the ground up. As to how much this would cost depends on what route you take and whos parts you go with. If you were to build an "economy" truck, IMHO i think you could do so for the same cost as an RTR and still end up with a truck with lots of aluminum and hop-up parts.
