I want to try rewinding a stock motor, to like a 9t. I have rewound one stock motor to 13t s, but did not run that good
(absolutly no torque at all, but would spin tires if they were off the ground)... Jeepinator, I know you did this, but it screwed up..... did it run very well, before it messed up?? Ive got 2 unused stock motors, and would like to try this, and ive come up with a way to make the timing adjustable on one of them..
Any help??

Hey sofast, my names craig too. Anyways, use some 18g pure copper winding wire from radioshack (or whatever your electrical supplier is), i rewound a few old 540 motors to 20t, 10t. The 20t went really good except that i need some thicker wire for it, 18g would be perfect for a 9t.

One of the hardest parts is to keep the wire tight while winding it. When you go to epoxy it use a slow set epoxy. If you check the strength ratings the slow ones are usually a lot stronger...as much as double. Devcon makes some good ones. Heat the arm in an oven to about 150' or so, & then apply the epoxy. The heat will draw it in to the core that way. Then cure it in the oven at 150' for about 1/2 hr. That should give a nice neet, even, deep job. Once it cools it should be about 90% cured.

I have rewound a Midnight motor (Roar 95) stock motor to a 10 single. It works well but still need to balance it. I dind't use epoxy, I used glyptol. It is a figernail polish like epoxy based paint. They use it in electronics maufacturing to hold components in place in high vibrations. It is avaliable at most high end electronic places (not radio-shack). The color of this stuff is redish orange. The motor has a lot of power in the stock can, but I put it in a modified can to adjust the timing. I had a whole bunch of copper wire used for speaker making. Make sure you only scrape off the enamel on the copper wire where you soder it onto the armature, otherwise you have a smoking mess if it the winds are shorted.

HOLY **** just finished the 9t double.... wooooooooo!!!!!!! Ive only tested it in a vise, but if it is half as fast as it look, itwill be FAST Besides rewinding it I put brand new magnets in it to. ( I dont really know if that will help of not, but they seem to be stronger than the stock ones) Im going to put the motor in my tamiya mini to test it..... and if its as fast as i think, that mini will need a wing or somthing on it :D Ill let you know how fast it actually is in the car, in about in hour or so.... I still need to flatten one side of the shaft so that the pinion will stay in one place.

Just got done running it, and have decided ITS COOl!!!:D Its not really as fast as i thought it would be, but I aint complaining. I mean come one its ALOT fast than it was...... It has ton's of torque.

Im just happy that it works. Maybe ill get a mod can w/ adjustable timing. That would be kind of cool.............................

Here is a picture of a stock armature rewound to a 10x1 Very fast, but still needs to be balanced.

This is a Stock Midnight Roar 95 rewoud to a 10 Single.

Nicely done;) It looks like the com could use a could cleaning :p Does it seem as fast as a real modified 10t single? mine (that im still running in my tamiya mo3 mini) Is FAST, but not as fast as a real modified. Its prob not balance very well, and the magnets are ALOT weaker than a mod motor..

It seems pretty fast. I was running 12 cells in my boat with it. That is why the comm is burnt. To much voltage. I ran a astroflight 207D esc. Very fasrt boat. I haven't really ran it in a car much, I need to balance it and then run it. but it winds up nicely.
