Hey I just got a xxt-cr with a pile of extra's. Will it still keep up? how close is it to the duratrax evader? they seem identical. If so I am set for parts cause my LHS carries tons of evader stuff and if arms and front end parts(the stuff i break) are the same then I am keeping this truck for a while let me know

Do you guys run the Hydra drive on your trucks still? I broke mine, and am trying to find parts for the slipper. Do you know if it (xx tranny) can be converted to the current losi two-disk slipper?

guggi101
03-22-2002, 02:04 PM
NOt sure if the 2 disk new system will work. Is the hydra drive better to run then the slipper set up they include? thanks

rpritchard
03-22-2002, 03:00 PM
I talked to some guys about it, and they said the hydra drive is still effective on really bumpy tracks, but because most tracks these days are pretty high speed and smooth, that the added weight is a bad trade off.

R Pritchard and Guggi,

I believe the dual-disk slipper ought to work, in fact I believe Losi has a retrofit kit for the XX series. The dual disk slipper is simple; it essentially replaces the hydra-drive and keyed spur gear with a spur gear slotted for slipper pads on both sides, and a slipper pad and plate similar to the ones already on the truck. I would think you could put one together without the actual kit.

I'm not sure of the benefits of the Hydra-Drive vs the single slipper setup or the dual slipper conversion; I run the Hydra simply because I lost the parts for the straight slipper setup.

rpritchard
04-02-2002, 12:47 AM
FYI, www.hotrodhobbies.com has the slipper parts. I just bought the slipper kit last week for like $3.

They don't have an online store, but if you call them they might be able to get the parts to you. They have a ton of XX series parts and hop-ups

I have a xxt and I like it I can get it to wheelie like no other but the darn idler gear keeps striping I bet you that I have gone through at least 30 I have had it for three years and it is the best birthday present I got since but I will be getting a 1/8 buggy for my birthday this year but this truck is a tank if you don't strip idler gears but I have a aluminum diff and the idler gear is the only plastic gear in there but it is easy to fix after a will.

what bodies besides the losi ones fit the xx-t truck ?

losifreak2004
04-22-2002, 05:59 PM
hardcoreTmaxx - If you get rid of the metal diff gear your idler gears will last much longer.

The dual disk slipper is a direct add-on, and is much more consistent than the Hydra-Drive, and easier to get parts for.

I won A LOT of races with my XXT and XXTCR. In fact, I was one of the top 10 Expert Stock drivers in Region 12 with it for quite a while. I still have quite a bit of info on these trucks. If you have any questions, let me know!

I know its not what you wanna hear, but if you got more than $100 for it, you'd be VERY lucky. Much emphasis on VERY.

And your best bet of that would be eBay.

guggi101
04-23-2002, 06:26 PM
Well I know I can get more then 100 I've been offered 225 and told by chris marcy owner of r/c madness to hold off a week or so cause he knows i can get at least 300. But whatever thats your opinion

losifreak2004
04-24-2002, 06:29 PM
$300.00?

Maybe over eBay, and maybe in your area. But NO WAY will you get over $100 for it anywhere I've been to.

I struggled to sell a brand new XXT-CR Graphite Plus Kit with various aluminum goodies for $150.00 with plenty of other parts. Motors, radios, tires, parts, none of that stuff has any resale value. If you sell what you have for over $200.00, the buyer must have little to no experience. Especially if it's been used.

Yup - It is our Field of Dreams, "Build it and they will come..." It is surrounded on three sides by corn. The company I work for owns the land and let us use a bit for the track. They lease the rest to a farmer. We built it this year - still need to fine tune the track, but beats the heck out of street bashing.

Can anyone explain the differences between all the different versions? I'm finding out that I have a bit of a mongrel XXT, with bits from XXT CR and Graphite+ parts mixed in. I know I don't have Hydradrive, which I'm glad for (my brother's is hard to tune), but any other info on the differences would be appreciated.

RallyRoach

losifreak2004
07-30-2002, 02:45 PM
There was only one version of the XXT. The CR had shorter arms, a wider pivot block (which was now a seperate piece from the pivot plate) and different hubs. The Graphite Plus was the CR with all the hop-up parts, plus the dual-disk slipper instead of the Hydra-Drive.

Aaron Waldron

I think Aaron covered most of it - also, I think the CR and Graphite Plus have a longer chassis?

Jep

losifreak2004
07-31-2002, 02:21 AM
That's right! When the XXTCR debuted, Losi came out with the XL chassis, which was 1/4" longer than the L(ong) chassis, which is what came with the XXT.

Aaron Waldron

RallyRoach
07-31-2002, 08:51 AM
Excellent, now things are a bit clearer... I need to replace the chassis and front pivot block soon (most of the screws are stripped out). Would I be better off looking for the 2 piece pivot assembly from a CR or go with the original 1 piece?

Also, what kind of alignment works well for a sandy, short track. Right now I'm just using the "general" set up from Losi's site, with Losi Reptiles (silver) in back and Proline ribbed in front.

Finally, would it be worth it to convert to the dual slipper? What are the benefits?

Thanks

losifreak2004
07-31-2002, 12:40 PM
On a sandy track, you wouldn't feel the difference with a dual slipper.

Both the XXT and CR came with the hinged front end. The CR's rear pivot block and pivot plate were seperate.

Some parts to be worried about: the chassis and front bulkhead where the hinges are, the top plate, and rear pivot block. Other than that, the truck is pretty strong!

Other companies made metal front bulkheads. The only problem with that becomes the hinges on the chassis. The bulkhead is easier to replace (and less $$$) than a new chassis!

Aaron Waldron

RallyRoach
08-01-2002, 10:25 PM
I had it explained to me that the front bulkhead is like a chassis "fuse". If you hit something badly, chances are the bulkhead will break before anything else...

losifreak2004
08-02-2002, 01:30 AM
Even with the stock bulkhead, the chassis and other front suspension parts can and will still break, but you have a better chance of the bulkhead being the old thing damaged if you leave it stock.

I sold a guy a XX- T CR that I had never driven and he is having problems with it. I am going to paste his problem on here and hopefully one of you guys can help him out. Thanks in advance.

"ive been having a really difficult time with the transmission,
its been slipping really bad as in, when ever the car is at neutral, and i throttle the motor at full, it slipps and moves slow for like 2 seconds then gradually gets a grip and moves and its very hard to take sharp corners cuase the acceleration is very slow due to the slipping. I went to my LHS and i bought brand new slipper pads and tightened the diff and there is still no effect. i tried using the different slipper spring but has no effect at all..whats for effeicient the hydra drive or the simple slipper drive...or better yet...can i make it not slip at all?"

Thanks

FlyinRazorback -

I have never personally had the hydra-drive (I use the dual slipper), but it sounds like he is using the hydra slipper and doesn't have any fluid in it. Tell him to re-build the hydra slipper (and use the Losi thick hydra fluid), or try the dual slipper conversion kit.

Well, I finally blew the trans to bits this weekend, funny that it was my first time in the A main, and the truck sounded like a rock tumbler on wheels.

Got it apart and discovered a stripped idler and diff gears, the diff thrust bearing exploded, and all the bearings in the trans were crunchy. 4 hours of brake cleaner and Q-tips, I got everything clean. I even tore the seals off the bearings, cleaned and relubed them (note: snap rings fly very far...).

Anyway, before I get it back together, I was wondering what I should be using for lube in the trans. The instuctions for the truck don't say anything about putting lube anywhere in the trans except for the diff. Is there anything I can put on the gears to smooth things up, or should I just leave it alone as suggested?

Hi Rally Roach,

I like to put a piece of electrical tape across the tranny seam after rebuilding to keep the dirt out a bit longer, some actually seal it with RTV, but seem over-kill to me.

As far as lube goes, there are different opinions, some run totally dry. I put a *very* small amount of Trinity royal oil on each bearing after cleaning. I put exactly two drops of Losi thick hydra-drive fluid on the idler gear teeth and spin the tranny to spread it around - the hydra fluid is very thick and sticky and coats the gears nicely. Off course you would use the proper silicon diff lube inside the diff if rebuilding, and I like to use Associated black grease on the diff thrust balls/washers.

Hey redman,

Could be a lot of things - is the slipper tight? If you use the hydra drive slipper, is it filled with fluid? Is there a pinion gear on the motor shaft, is the set screw tight, and is it engaged with the spur?

Could also be broken teeth on any of the gears outside or inside the tranny, or a stripped Diff gear.

Losi Hydra-Drive Fluid! My hydradrive went the way of the dinosaurs but I still use the fluid.

One small drop on each of the three tranny gears will lube them just right until they wear-in a little. Then no lube is nessasary.

My first truck: Losi XXT with the CR conversion. It still had the short truck chassis which gave it too much steering. My next truck (XXT Graphite +) was much easier to drive.

jep_rc
10-26-2002, 10:17 AM
Re: tranny: Ditto what BobT said -

After a thorough rebuild/cleaning, I put a drop of Trinity Royal oil (any good bearing oil will do) on each bearing and let it soak in, then wipe off excess with q-tip. I put barely a drop of thick hydra fluid on the idler and turn everything to spread it around - it really keeps the tranny smooth and quiet.

BobT - I own a XXT-CR Graphite plus as well. It is my first "real" racing truck, and I love it (DTX Evader was my first truck - my 8yr old inherited it). I ditched the hydra as well, and run the dual slipper.

Thanks for the replies guys. I tried some regular weight hydra oil, and the truck ran fine all weekend (except for a broken rear pivot plate, which I fixed by using zip ties :). Too bad I'll have to wait until next year to race it again, :(

Anyway, I just wanted to note that Proline Sand Paws work really well on a sandy track. Our tack is nothing but sand, and its fine for the first 2 hours, but then it dries out too much and traction is scarce. I use Proline Gladiators (as do most of the other racers there), but I had a set of paddle tires that came with the truck when I bought it. I actually made the A-main, but I realy had no chance of winning, so I thought I'd have some fun and put the paddles on. Wow! Sand flying everywhere and traction! Plus, with a little practice, I could turn just as well as the others.

Basically, I'd slow for the corner early, then floor it, dig in, and fly ahead. Pulled off 2nd place (running 2000 packs, a Trinity SpeedGems 2 17D) against some much faster machinery, but noone had grip but me :)

Anyway, sorry for so long a post, but I just wanted to say that a basic XXT is still a good race truck :)

It is loaded with lots of goodies, and tons of spare parts, but I can't remember all of them off the top of my head, and I don't have the truck to look at right now. jep_rc

Stumpy -

It is really hard to estimate the value without knowing *exactly* what you are including with the truck - rolling chassis only?, motor?, ESC, other elecs?, etc. Also need to know all the hop-ups. XXT trucks sell every week on eBay - go there and use the advanced search to look at completed auctions and see what they are going for. Or look thru Buy/Sell/Trade forum here.

As a point of reference, I picked up a well used XXT-"CR" Graphite Plus rolling chassis with all the goodies (graphite parts, MIP CVDs, Lundford turnbuckles, etc.) and a handfull of replacement parts, all for $60.00 on eBay about a month ago.

I might be interested in your truck, but you will have to take the time to describe it in exact detail. Oh yeah, and only post it for sale in the Buy/Sell/Trade forums, then drop a note here.

xxter -

You can buy the XXT wheels with the clear lexan disks and paint (the back side) of the clear disks any color you want. The plastic part of the wheels is either yellow, white or natural. You can dye the white ones any color you want.

The XXT wheels are getting hard to find, but you can use the new XXXT wheels - they are solid colors and do not use the clear disks. They come in many colors, but you can dye the white ones as well.

Check out Losi, RPM, and Pro-line. Any of their wheels for the XXT or XXXT should fit.

Hello, I am wanting to get a new look for my xxt cr truck by getting a new body. I am a huge fan of dodge trucks. I did some searching and really the only dodge truck body I've seen closest to fitting a xxt cr on the market is the one from Hot Bodies called Ram-It. I posted the pic of it along with my post. Notice the Mopar scheme? Anyone know if these decals come with it and if not where to get them? Also, I notice that it says that this body was designed to fit the Losi LXT but it states that it may be modified to fit similar trucks. Will the mount on the xxt cr without ripping the body all apart? If anyone knows of any other Dodge bodies on the market for our trucks, please tell me who makes it. Thanks, Gary

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I'm glad people are still using the good old xxt. It is an awsome truck and my first real rc. I recently put a brushless in mine, and it cooks. Does anyone know if they still make a rpm heavy duty plastic gear cover? The stock ones are weak.
jep, that is a sharp looking xxt.

xxter -

Any of the bodies designed for the XXX-T also fit the XX-T pretty well. There should be a bunch to choose from. Check out Losi at Horizon Hobbies, also Pro-line, Hot Bodies, Andy's R/C Bodies, Mcallister Racing Bodies, to name a few.

Most (not all) only come with window masks, grill, lights and a few logos. For detail decals, check out Autographics of California, they have every type of decal set you can imagine. Also Parma, and a few others.

Here is a link to Mcallister's Dodge body....

I have a XXtcr, and whoever could spend their time to help me figure out how to do this, I would really appreciate this.
:D

right now, it's christmas time (where the snow comes) actually the first day of '03. So i'm just trying to clean my car and everything for the racing season (for me). There is no snow where I race (Scottsdale RC speedway), but I live many miles away from it (183).

I don't know how to get to my differential from the outside, I wanna clean it and everything, but I can't get to it.

I bought the car used, so i didn't get the thrill of building it. And i didn't get the instruction manual either (to know how to build it).

So could someone E-mail me how to take the "housing" apart (I think). Or E-mail me how to clean it, or what to buy to clean it, or do ALL OF THAT. I'd really appreciate it. :) :) :D

my e-mail is smouthfan@hotmail.com (www.smouthfan@hotmail.com)
Thanks a bundle.;)

drumr,

You will need the pdf file located here.
http://www.teamlosi.com/pdfs/exploded/xxtcr.pdf
It will show you how things go together. It will also give you all your part numbers.

There is only one way to work on the diff. You have to remove the tranny and open it up.

Good luck racing.

Thanks a bunch bob T
I guess i should actually get that graphite Trans. case
I just got a new servo for my car, and installled it. dang does that thing have torque, I wedged myself on a tree in pheonix while i was testing the servo, and turned the wheels towards the tree, and got unstuck. Boy did I have a fun time at the track. I got there at eleven, then stayed there untill eleven
I tried selling my old servo to some people, even the shop, 4 two dollars, they wouldn't buy it! :p

A graphite tranny case will not make your truck any faster. Buy the standard case and save your money for another battery pack. ;)

HELP!!
My son busted the Front chassis stiffener on his xxt.

Does anyone know if there is an interchangeable equivelant from another car??

Kam... You're my hero, i thought that there was someone else out ther like that, and I was right I'm soo exited to help you
I've broken through that part twenty eight ( yes count them 28) times. That's the only thing that I think is wrong with the car ( Team Losi is good),;)
They still make it because it goes on other cars too like all of the XX series. Just wait for the piece to come to your local hobbie store.
There is always Graphite, It's part # 9900 it goes for 11.00
Graphite breaks too, but there is a slight chance that it won't break, if he hits something in the front, it usually breaks.
If it breaks like three times, try getting a new front bulkhead. I don't know what part number it is, just when you go into the shop ask them for a Team Losi front bulkhead, they ask what type of car it is, just say it's a XXt. Then ask him how to install it onto the chassis.

BTW the part he broke was a Chassis brace.

kam,

Yes they should still be available. Make sure the front bulkhead is ok. The hing areas take a lot of stress and will break a loop or two. They will look fine but the whole front end will be loose. As long as you are replacing the chassis brace you might as well replace the bulkhead.

P.S. The white bulkhead is stronger than the original one and should hold up better.

Another quick question....I finally found a place online that has the chassis brace.
I dont want to just place a small order, so I'm also getting an extra one along with the bulkhead as suggested.

My question is what else is very common to break?? That way I can have the spares ready.

That same part is common to break
get like 4 of those in 3 graphite (9900), and one plastic (4110)

The rear hub carriers broke most often on me. That is until I learned a trick to make them stronger.

The horn where the camber link connects to the hub carrier was the weak point. To make it stronger use a longer ball end and put a locknut on the end of it sandwiching the horn. This adds a lot of durability to this part.

Front hub carriers can also be a weak point so add those as well.

You guys (and girls) know a thing about the Team Losi XXtcr, how about helping me out by giving me a hand.

I wanna keep this car a long time, so I want as many hop-ups as i could get. I'm talking aluminum, anodized, graphite, anything that is better than stock, or to make it look better.

can you state a website for me to go to, or offer me something that will help in durability, and performance wise

I just wanna know what's out there

Hey Kam,
If your son wants to race, get him something that is kinda new, that has alot of replacement parts for it, I'm not saying that the XXtcr doesn't have any parts for it, I'm talking about hop-up parts For Performance not really looks (even though the looks are a +)
To race get him a Mat-Francis XXX-T, or if your son likes a challenge, get him a Kinwald Edition XXX buggy.
The thing with the EDITION part is that the car is that you get a rolling chassis, and has all of the hop-ups like Graphite everything that would be plastic on the original version, Titanium Turnbuckles, Thredid shocks (I think) and some aluminum parts minus just about a hundred dollars in aluminum parts for hop-ups. that's about four parts that you can make the car better (that's not electronics). That's a smoking deal

Add about 50$ max to the original price of the regular car, and you get the EDITION.

The Edition type cars don't come with any electronics, but you can buy tham at your lhs. Get a good transmitter that isn't that expensive, but isn't a cheap piece of junk.
Get a XR2 transmitter with a reciever in the same package, and That will be Good. Don't get a package with servos, or with an ESC because you need a good, racing quality ESC, and a Racing quality servo. Don't spend less than $50 give or take a few on a servo.
Get a good quality ESC like a Novak Cyclone2
Because reverse is illegal in races, there are some ESC's that you can push a button to cancel out reverse, and have brake instead.

If your son just wan'ts to backyard bash, get him some essentials for durability for his car, like Titanium Turnbuckles, and new ballcups

kam
01-14-2003, 03:52 AM
I currently have him running a Novak Dually....I took out the Super Rooster that was in it so that he wouldnt get used to having reverse.
We actually went to the track tonight to see if we could break my "custom" chassis brace. Well it looks like I'm going to hold off on ordering a replacement. The one that I made looks to be bulletproof. It's an aerospace plastic that I brought home from work that's light and can take temps above 180C.

RallyRoach
01-26-2003, 11:41 AM
I don't think so. If I'm remembering corectly, there was a XX Kinwald buggy, but no 'Name Brand" XXT. Besides, the XXX series has had quite a long shelf life now, and it is still essentially unchanged. I think if Losi decides to revamp the XXX in any signifigant way, they will take the oportunity to sell a whole new vehicle and the XXXX will be born.

drumr racer
01-29-2003, 10:45 PM
Full Tilt: if you can spend alot of money, which I already know that you want to be cheap, buy some threaded shock bodies for the Evader (I'm not sure about this, but alot of people said that the threded shock bodies on the Evader will fit the XX-tcr. I'm saving money for some) They're aluminum, and really durable.
Or if you want ti spend as little money as possible, which I observed you do, live your regular shocks to their fullest, and clean them whenever you run in dusty conditions, or clean them regularly.

FullTilt

drumr-- thanks... I was just browsing online for some ideas and came across the duratrax ones you mentioned. They're not that steep in price ($15.99 at Tower) so I might go for those unless there's a better option out there (plus I need to make sure they will work because under Tower's description, it says it only works for something else). My regular shocks are broken so there's no point in cleaning it any more. :(

To answer your question; positive camber will make your truck handle differently than negative camber. I don't believe you will like the difference.

Now let's clarify something. You replaced your Matt Francis XXXT camber links which are titanium with another set of Lunsford turnbuckles. Is that correct?

If you replace all the links with a set of Lunsfords you may have the front, rear and or steering links interchanged.

The rear links are longer than the front. If you are putting a XXXT set on an XXT you have two choices. See if your LHS will exchange them for a set for a XXT or go one step farther in the upgrade. Replace the ball cups with Traxxas captured ball ends. These ballends are shorter but stronger. We do this on our XXXNT's to strengthen them. Put a washer on the 4-40 screw before putting it through the ball and you will never loose that link in a bad landing or accident.

I've snapped the titanium link but the Traxxas captured ball ends were still in place.

It might be easier to just find a rral xxt, but if you're bound and determined, you'll need the main chassis, the front and rear arms, anything that looks like a turnbuckle, shocks, shock towers, wheels and tires, body mounts and atruck body. Hope that helps :)

There are less than a dozen parts that are the same for both the xx and xxt. Chassis, transmission, a-arms, camber-links, hubs and hub carriers are all different. It would be cheaper to buy a new XXXT Spec and upgrade with bearings than to try to convert your xx to a truck. A used Matt Francis edition or standard XXXT should also be cheaper.

Sell the xx and put the money towards a newer truck. You'll be dollars ahead.

Yes but but in most cases once they are set you never need to worry about them again. And you've saved $40 by not investing in the threaded shocks. I have them on my XXXT and they were nice for setting the ride hight two years ago.

If I had it to do over I would have spent the $40 on new tires.:p

Plus, we may have a large dirt oval opening. It will be used mainly for nitro stadium racing, but if there's interest there may be an electric class.

IMHO, you shouldn't run a gear cover with these trucks. The covers are imperfect at best on keeping dirt out, and if any gets in, its like a meat grinder after the run. I race on mostly sandy tracks, and have had few problems not running the ocver. If a rock does get stuck, a quick throttle blip clears the spur and your fine.

That being said, you can still get the covers from Losi, and I think RPM may still make theirs. Try your LHS for these parts :)

You can find the stock Losi XXT bodies on eBay every once in a while, but as for new bodies that fit, Dahm's has a bunch that will work (Plus Sheldon's Hobbies has them on sale right now :D )

Other than that, T3 bodies can be made to fit, it just requires some holes to be cut in the hood to allow the shock towers to clear. Gives it kind of a Hot-Rodish look, but not the best for protection of parts.

The losi part number is A-7680R Front/Rear “Smasher” All Terrain Tires (Red) w/Foam $17.95

Go to Losi's web site and get the part number for the dished wheels with the disc caps. Stormer hobbies carries them. I do not remember the part number. If you have the Losi Part number your LHS should be able to order them for you.

Sniper Bait - Congrats on the found item. Losi unfortunately does not have an electronic version of the XXT manual. Try ebay, someone may be selling an old XXT manual. If you still have trouble finding one let me know. I may be able to scan mine and email an electronic version of it to you.

Have you been able to determine which XXT it is? XXT or XXTCR. If it is the XXT, then my manual should work. If it is the XXTCR then it will help but not much.

The XXT has a shorter chassis and velcro battery straps. The transmissions are the same. The XXTCR has the longer chassis, came in a regular and a graphite version, and had a battery holder similiar to the current XXXTs. The front ends are identical but there are some slight differences in rear suspension geometry.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

After lookng on ebay, I found nothing useful, just a couple rolling chassis... so if you are willing to scan those pages for me I would be most gratefull! :D :D PM me for my email.. thanks again

SniperBait - I will PM you when I get it scanned in. (sorry, having scanner issues) The diff is not hard to tune. Very easy compared to the xxxnt. I am fairly sure there is a section in the manual on how to tune the diff. If there is, I will scan that also.

GTFreak - Whether you keep them or not is up to you. If you have other vehicles and the xxt's are collecting dust, you might want to think about downsizing. My xxt was my first hobby grade RC. So I keep mine around for sentimental reasons. I bought it when the xxt kit was first released (Bushings kit w/ no electronics). Mod - I got your pm. I will email the manual shortly. When tearing apart the front end be sure to inspect the bulkhead thouroghly. Pay particular attention to the plastic ringed areas where the pins join the bulkhead to the chassis. This is the weak point of the bulkhead and normally where it breaks. Check to see if the rings are cracked or show signs of bending (indicated by white areas). If it is replace it. I have broken the bulk head a couple of times. Don't worry though, mine only broke b/c I ran it into a car tire the first time and a mailbox the second time(Street racing :D ).

Check out Losi's website they have a nice exploded view of your truck.
http://www.teamlosi.com/exploded/index_old.htm

The manual I have is for a xxt kit w/ bushings. It will work for all xxt kits except the xxtCR and xxtCR graphite edition. They have a different length chassis and slipper configuration.

Hope this helps

I have received your email, and will make it publicly available to anyone else that wants it. I'd like to build a repository of manuals that so people can find anything they need on one site, but I'm not sure of the legal ramifications :(

Anyhow, as far as teh front bulkhead is concerned - 3 of the rings on teh left side are "expanded" or opened up - but not broken off. I'll run with it like this for the time being - hell, worst case is that it breaks when someone else is driving it :)

Modfather- RPM makes a very nice cushioned bumper/skid plate for the xxt. When you do finally replace the front bulkhead you might want to look into getting one. It takes some of the stress off of the bulkhead during a front end collision.

GT- Every addict on this site is looking for a vehicle. As always though it depends on vehicle and price. If you are actively trying to sell one of the trucks then put it on ebay or post it in the buy/sell forum in the zone. I have a tendency to low ball people on price. I would tell you what I think you might get for the regular or graphite version, but I don't want to insult you. Remember these trucks handle great but they are out dated. There is not much demand for them other than parts trucks or those of us who like the trucks and are not concerned with having a state of the art racer. If you are serious, post it on the buy/sell forum. If you price it reasonable enough, someone will buy it.

I have not raced my xxt in a long time. I used to run on moslty loose dirt tracks and used losi step pins. From what I have heard though the Pro line bow ties work well on the blue groove which is similar to the track you are describing. Losi has a tire selection guide on their web site. That might help. If not check in the xxxt threads and ask those guys.

Jack, All you need to do is change the spur gear and the pinion gear to the right gearing for the BL. The stock xxt tranny is tough enough to handle the brushless as long as you do not run more than 8 cells on it. Any more than that or if you have incorrect gearing on your spur and pinion you could melt the plastic gears. I do not know of anyone who makes aftermarket metal tranny gears for the xxt. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Yes, they are great trucks. The newer xxxt and xxxt2 trucks have some greater suspension tuning abilities and a different gear ratio. Aside from that they are similiar trucks. If you can get a deal on the xxt buy it. If not you can usually get a xxxt off of ebay for about the same or slightly more.

I can not remember all of them off hand. The ones off of the top of my head are the smaller hex wrenches like a 3/32 and a 5/64. I use those two very often on both my xxt and my xxxnt. You can pick up a standard allen wrench set at the hardware store for under 10 bucks. Hope this helps.

Man I'm glad I found this thread! I was just given a XXT from my wife's cousin. It was in pretty bad shape but the drivetrain is pretty good!

I'm looking into the conversion from the hydra drive to a dual pad slipper setup as I've heard it's easier to maintain and get parts for?

I've read a little through this thread about the use of Evader ST parts on the XXT. I can tell you from my experience that parts are very similar like arms, shock towers. But some parts require some minor modification to fit right. I needed to replace the front bulkhead on my XXT and was able to get a Evader ST for some parts. The bulkhead from the EST is near exact to the XXT piece except the way it mounts to the chassis. The XXT bulkhead uses 5 hinges I think and the EST only uses 3. All I had to do was cut the chassis to fit the EST bulkhead and it works fine!

The EST suspension arms seem to use a slightly smaller hinge pin than the XXT does.

I'm fixing up the XXT to go racing soon! I've been racing my 18T and have gotten the bug to race another class! I have'nt race 1/10th off road since the Heavy Metal class a long time ago!!!! :D

Hey, I just brought another car (RC10T2) which has a Team Losi slipper clutch setup fitted, as near as I can tell its the same used on the XX-T (has a big thing that goes infront of the spur and a slipper pad behind it). No idea how it was fit on there, but its not using a standard top shaft so thats probably Losi as well.

So my question to you guys, is what does it do? Is this the hydra drive thing? Should I keep it or put a normal setup back on? I can't for the life of me figure out what the big black thing infront of the spur does, all I can see is it has what looks like a big gear in from the parts diagram.

Cheers.

GT freak - I'd try Losi IFMAR Pins on that style track. Those have been my favorite tire the last several years of racing.

B3racer - The Hydra Drive has a fan inside of it that turns through thick silicone fluid (the viscosity of the fluid changes how the Hydra Drive works) and helps provide stability (through somewhat of a flywheel effect) on slippery and rough tracks..in the mid 90's, the Hydra Drive rocked on anything but the most blue-groove race tracks.

I'm not sure who all is still reading this thread. If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to chip in some help.

That's pretty much why I'm selling mine, while it's still in good running condition. I had 3 XX-T chassis (two in running condition, one for parts) at one time, but they seemed to break a bit more than I liked. Keep in mind that as many have mentioned, the Duratrax Evader ST has parts that are very similar to those on the XX-T. You might want to check to see if the parts you've broken can be replaced with Evader ST parts. I'm not sure about the XX-T CR model though.

I do have an issue with the turnbuckles. I need so titaniums. I think that the xxt's would work but am not sure. am I right?

I could be wrong, but for the cr, I think you need the xxxt turnbuckles. The cr had the longer a-arms of the xxxt before the xxxt came out with that and a number of other changes.

Does anyone have a parts pull-out or manual?

Here's my XX-T, awaiting parts (in the mail) for a diff rebuild...

And, the XX-T with the Micro riding piggy-back! :)

:)

XX-T paintjob: Old old green paint from last decade, sharpie, Competition Orange (toxic crap paint/mask job on purpose), and grey primer. X)

Electronics and stuff:

Bearings throughout, a slough of wheels (Mashers x4, bowties x2, Losi super-rib things x2, Losi standards x2, Pro-Line sand paws x2. Futaba Magnum Sport Tx/Rx, LRP F1 Pro fwd/rev ESC, Speed Gems 2 9t Single powerplant, Lunsford blue titanium turnbuckles with steel Losi XXX-T buckles in the back because I misplaced one back 6-9 years ago, 2" red springs in the front, 2.5" pink in the back.

Bought it on eBay around 2001-2003 abouts, then broke it that year, at which time I retired it and fell out of the RC hobby for a while. Had an itch to get back into it, and I've been scratching for weeks now, but my XXT is just such a basket case that I'm slowly turning it into a truck built entirely on replacement parts. X)

When I got it, it was green with silver tape along the bottom for an accent...

Anyway, enough rant...

Any rims listed for xxt, xxxt or Duratrax evader will fit your xxt. Associated rims will go on but they have the wrong dish and will ruin handling. As long as they're not the AD2 or XXXT-CR. Those will fit the front, but not the back.
