View Full Version : Loctite type for metal to plastic
I'm a little desperate right now to connect the servo savers to my servo.
it's like this. I have a traxxas stampede and I've busted 2 servo savers. one of the servo saver have a little more thread to it. no problem turning the wheels at a very slow speed but loose the grip at higher speed.
now I'm looking for a loctite type just to get temporary runs till my LHS gets the servo saver for my hitec. I know the blue loctite will damage/soften the plastic part so any alternative for this?
p.s. I thought of CA glue but I think by the time I want to remove it, the plastic adaptor for the servo saver will stay with the servo, right?

U dont use loc-tite for metal-to plastic.. or plastic-to-plastic...
Just get ya a wide-thread (widespread thread pattern) "tapping screw" and torque that baby down till you feel it "bottom out"

I think car action or nitro say to use like blue rtv to lock into plastic. haven't tried it, but sounds like it works.

I've been using the blue loc-tite for years on all my screws, I haven't noticed it weakening the nylon. Anyone else have adverse affects with blue tite and nylon?

As someone who works for loctite and has their full catalog, here's the full story:
Green Loctite is either the retaining compound or the wicking grade that is meant to be applied after putting it together and adjusting, and then seeps into the assembly. These are extremely strong, and after my own testing, I reccomend you NEVER use them. I had to get a blowtorch and impact wrench to take it off.
RTV sealant might work but the tubes loctite puts that in would make it hard to apply.
I think CA would work well too but it's not ideal.
Your best bet would be ASSURE threadlocker 425 for plastic and metal fasteners.
If you're interested, go ahead and visit the loctite north america site and browse through a bit. when I first started I was surprised at all the stuff they make. Threadlockers, retaining compounds, CA glues, epoxies, anti seize, sealants, hand cleaners, lubricants, machining compounds, anti slip floor coverings, platic parts coatings, and a ton of other stuff. I have a full drawer of loctite stuff i use for RC, with all of my liquids and stuff being Loctite. Hope this helps.

You can also use shoe goo, the only problem is it almost holds to well.
