Nope I don't think that's a good idea.
It still is $35 with shipping too you home, for this kind of money you should be able too get a nice 15 pipe

You need one servo and a radio to complete the kit right?
rc10gtisthebest
10-15-2003, 09:24 PM
RCKid, You will need 2 servo's and a radio system (plus std. Nitro Running Support) to complete it. And atleast the steering servo should have over 90oz is my recommendation so that the wheels will turn :o

rckid11- you have picked the right choise
Jeroen- thought so,but i could use it in my landmax because i still struggel to tune my engine with my cvec.
I have thought about selling my cvec but i know that its a wery good pipe when you get the tuning right.
I gues i just have to take my time learning how to tune a engine with the cvec.
jeroen
10-16-2003, 11:17 AM
Never had real probelmes with the cvec too tune a engine(I know it is a little bit more difficult than aother pipes)
My cvec with XTM runs great,I finally have a engine that is not needed too tune every time again, just a small turn on the mainjet.

What do people recomend as a good cheap servo?
rc10gtisthebest
10-17-2003, 11:53 AM
I have a HS-645MG Servo in my mad force and it gets the job done pretty well,
133oz Torq
.20 Transit Time..
It's a little slow but the 133 turns the wheels pretty good. and for $39.99 I think it's damn worth it...

I've never seen this truck before...but looking at the pictures I can say I like it, how well does it handle? does it have 4 wheel steering? I like this truck more than the Traxxas T-max that every other person in the universe has. The Mad Force looks simpler and lighter:)

Jeroen- my 2 engines are wery stedy as well.. i am done painting my mad armour body but its att my girlfriends place so cant get any pics until tomorrow.
Sasso- i dont know if the mf is better then the t-maxx,the mf has a 2link suspensione setup and handels different.
Its a blast to drive every time though and some light shock oil will make the performance mutch better
frankt- A new kit is like christmas, keep the pics coming
My girlfriend tried my landmax yesterday(in a big parking lot with no curbs) and she is realy getting interested in bying a car.
She has also practiced with my new pc simulator realrace2 and are starting to get a hang of it.

What parts do i need to convert to use t-maxx and savage rims and tires?
jeroen
10-25-2003, 11:30 AM
Don't know which parts.
Ask it around a madforce.net forums, they know it.
I only know that you need 17mm wheelhubs
rc10gtisthebest
10-25-2003, 11:08 PM
No, you'll need 14mm hubs. they have a kit where you can just slap the kit on and your ready for maxx wheels.

Some familiar faces here...:D Well guys just got mey Mad Force. What a HUGE truck. The pictures I saw never gave me a real idea of its size.:p
I almost finished the assembly. Just need to paint the body. So far noticed few things:
- stock breakers sucks. No breake lines comes with the kit. Had to use the LM spare lining I had with MF rotirs and pads:mad:
- my 3 speed trans is a little "heavy" at one specific point when turned manually. Dont know it if will get better when more used or if it is normal or what.
- the stock measures listed on instruction manual to the front wheel arms simply doesn't work. Had to use my own measures to have the wheels properly aligned and whole steering sistem working fine.
I tried to use the IFW013 instead of IFW045 http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVSEARCH=ifw45&FVPROFIL=++&search3=Go. Jeroen, thanks for your help on this.:D
I ordered a 4 shocks support from tower and maybe get it within 3 weeks. Send you pictures soon.

Hi guys. Does anybody on this forum knows if those springs http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXU970&P=0 can help the handling of the MF? More stable ride I mean.:D
jeroen
11-10-2003, 11:08 AM
Hi blaster.
Good too hear your MF is done.
The 3 speed doesn't have too spin easy, better is when new just a litle bit friction.
It's a real job too adjust it perfect.
Better try these ultra soft springs: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCJW7&P=7
In the rear they are abit too soft, with the 4 shock setup
Also put some thin oil in them 30 wt max and put some 2 1,4mm pistons in them.
Hope too see some nice body painting pics soon:D
Blaster
11-11-2003, 04:57 AM
Thanks for the tip Jeroen!:D Man, adjust a 3 speed is a really a time consuming job. But guess it is done. Have to drive the truck to test. I saw the springs you recommended. The problem is that my LHS doesn't have them.:( In fact seems that is usual the LHS does not have specific MF parts in stock:mad: Will have to go to Tower. In this meantime I will wait for the 2 shocks assemby support....
I was wondering if a rear exaust like tis one is better. I don't like oil spread all over the side of this car. It will be hard to clean latter:D What do you think of http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEKY3&P=Z

I will upload the MF and LM pics today. However I just drove the MF yesterday without the body shell - not painted yet. Man, that thing jumps a lot!
Any option to diminish it without change the springs to super softs (yellow)? I will got my soft springs only in a month - my LHS had to order it.:(

11-13-2003, 07:10 PM
Changing to lighter shock oil will help, 15 wt will do the trick.
I run mine on 30 but it still bounces alot.
I`ll by 15 when my lhs gets it ... 30 was the thinnest they had when i were there last time
ggod luck with the paitin :)

Folks, need some advice here. I bought and installed the 8 shock on my custom MF. I followed the assembly and installing instruction at the end of the manual. However if I press the car until the chassis touches the axle (front or rear) the shock springs on both sides of the car scratch on each other. It will scratch the spring paint and also compromisse the suspension work. I am using ultra soft yellow springs and turbo shock on each corner. Is it normal? If not, any suggestion? :(

Folks - I finished my MF project. Completelly different from the stock one. Will post pics latter.:D
I bought last week a Mad Armour. I was expecting a ladder chassis, as shown on photos and described all over the net, as here (http://www.towerhobbies.com/products/kyosho/kyoc0522.html) . hey guys thinking to order a mad force from tower, just a couple of questions, how is the stock motor runs? it's 40 + mph so if I change to something like a wasp.26/picco will it go even faster? also how does it rock climb compare with like tamiya's TXT-1 ?

sorry for so many questions
how does it compare with like a T maxx, Savage 25, monster GT? same stuff? or it's totally different? i really like the suspesion setup:)
I am asking because I have a savage and a mgt.
Blaster
12-17-2003, 05:47 AM
celittca - the Mad Armour body, in my opinion, looks much better than the stock Mad Force body. Both doesn't come painted.
The stock Kyosho engine is capable to give you fun. But a OS RG makes the truck becomes much better, specially if you like wheelies and high speed jumps on bumps. The engines you mentioned I think will take the truck to a next level... :D If you install them on your truck, please share pics with us!:p
Thsi is a solid axle truck but has a good suspension performance to rock climbing. I can't help you compare it with Tamiya or Savage.

I just ran my Mad Armor yesterday for the first time. My ex had a Mad Force when it first came out, so I knew what to expect. It was a blast running it in the snow. I built it stock to start out, but after a couple tanks, already started swapping parts. Ended up running T-Maxx shocks and Juggernaut tires on it. Also made some custom limiting straps to help protect the shocks. Its a great package and I am glad I decided to get it over the Monster GT or the Savage.
For anyone thinking of getting a Kyosho monster, you don't need a RCX edition. Sure its a great truck, but for me all that I liked it had over the standard kits was the better steering system. I am not one for the 8 shocks or the polished parts. I like to run my trucks and enjoy them, and the Mad Armor is perfect for me. I will work on getting a couple pics.

Diff Problems
After about 3 sets of Rear Bevel/Pinion Gears I've decided to see if any of you are having this problem,
I have stripped about 3 sets of Bevel/Pinion sets (like i previously said).
But now matter what, (even with light and Heavy shimming) they always strip out.
I mean It's not like I'm running a powerful engine. (OS RGX)
No it's not a RCX...
If anyone could give me some insight before I buy $200 worth of Diff parts, that would be great!
Thanks,
Todd

Nice too hear you enjoy the mad armor alot
I love too see some snow pics of it.
I did strip one pinion gear in the rear,it was my own fault as the 2 screws close too the drivecup were abit loose, make sure you use two 3mm long once in there and put a nut on it aswell.
Good shimming is also very importend.
If you stick too these 2 things you should be fine,as I run an XTM 24.7 for over a long time and I have had no problems so far.
P.S maybe check you bearings in that area, they could have some slop in it somehow.
Blaster
01-17-2004, 06:21 AM
Jeroen - nice tips. I will double check the bearings and the screws on my rear diff.:D Never had such problem but cost almost nothing prevent it.
Racer Bob - I agree on you. I turned my stock Mad Force into RCX version. And one of the things that I don't think that worth the money is put 8 shocks on it. In my opinion it handles better with original set. With additionnal shocks the truck becomes less soft, jumps more while running and the shock springs scratch on each other taking the painting off... Have fun and post some pics!:D

The screws on the Bevel Gear were backing out and it was just spinning and not grabbing (the internal gears)

rc10 - I am not the one with good knowledge here. Still in "gather knowleadge" phase of the hobby. I never had this problem but I am interested, either to try to help (with my limitations) and also to prevent it on my own truck. You said you swaped the diffs and changed the screws. Any chance that the shims might have a influence on that too? What about the bearings?
All - I think I found a cheap and fast solution to the problem of shocks scratching on each other (while using 8). Just inserted a small plate (15x3x2.5 mms) with 2 holes on each support for the "internal" shock. Fixed it on shock support with secrews and the shocks on ith with screws and nuts. They are now in parallel and the truck handling is much better! I will posta pic soon.Wonder why kyosho didn't made it themselves.

Well The first time it stripped it was my fault because I forgot to put the Shims back in.
But most recently the screws that hold the ring bevel gear on to the diff were backing out and the Ring Bevel and Pinion weren't getting a good mesh and a few times it stripped out and a few others I got lucky and it backed out so far that they weren't getting any contact at all..
Here's a diagram..
EXPLANATION
The Screws (blue) holding on the Ring Bevel (red) were backing out of the diff case (green) and the Pinion (black) wasn't making good contact with the Ring Bevel (Red)
jeroen
01-23-2004, 06:27 AM
Thats a common problem on the MF.
Kyosho did put too short screws in it(the mp-7.5 biggy has longer once in them, now thats what I call )
You only have too put some longer (not wooden screwz) in them
Lets say 3x16 metal screwz.

Loctite won't do anything on plastic contacts. It's ment for Metal to Metal Contacts.
I'd say just changing the Screws is enough. I did it and have great results.

Folks, I think I found one of many possible solutions to an old problem of Mad Force/Mad Armour that uses 8 shocks. The springs scratching. The attached pic shows what i did: screwed one end of a 15x2.5x3mm iron bar on inside hole of each aluminum schock support. Then the other end of the bar was screwed to the inside shock of each corner of the truck. The pic might help to understand. Now the truck moves so smothly that I had to bring back the red springs....:p

rc10gtisthebest
02-15-2004, 05:34 PM
well i deceided to change my stock junker out the the OS RG .21 how ever I found out a few problems when I was putting it in.
1) You can't use the adapter that converts the exhaust to round port. the header will not fit with the pullstarter unit. So I ended up fabricating some extension plates that pushed the header/adapter out past the pullstarter unit. It's works great but probably isn't worth the effort. (They look really trick I must admitt though)
2) I totally forgot the you need a different flywheel for it. So I slapped a Kanai II clutch/flywheel/clutchnut on it and damn! Do those aluminum shoes REALLY hook up great.
But other then those problems The engine is a screamer. It found all of the weak-lins in my truck with-in the first 2qts. Very Fine engine for the money. The head is a little short for my taste so I had to run rich so I wouldn't fry it but I switched the head out to the OS RZV01B head and it works great not...
My highly modded stock pipe is working really good. I figure it added some power (maybe  )

I currently have a MP 7.5 Kanai Edition w/ all the KII upgrades ( My Kanai (http://www.stealthpenguin.com/rc.htm) )
.. As well as a RC10GT FT (with all the upgrades).
I really really love my Kyosho and am strongly condsidering getting a Mad Force.
Before I invest in one though I have some questions...:
1. Can I use a racing .21 engine w/ a pullstart and rear exhaust? (OFNA Hyper 21 8-port)
2. Can I use a standard .21 one-piece exhaust setup?
3. Will my Kanai shocks/diffs/drive-shafts/clutch/etc. work on the MF?
4. How stable is the MF in mid-air? (i race buggies so i'm pretty spoiled in that category)
5. Is it possible to keep the MF stock? If not, what are it's major weaknesses?
Thanks!

2. Can I use a standard .21 one-piece exhaust setup?

Well let me say that the Mad Force is an Awsome truck!
1) Yes. But you will need a few conversion parts (about $40)
2) Yes Definetly
3) You'll be able to use the 7.5's rear shocks. Not the front they are to short. Diffs will work, Driveshafts Will work, Clutch will work fine.
4) Well I haven't really raced my truck. How ever I've taken it on our tracks 3 ft Jump and it is almost as stable in the air as my old RC10GT was.
5) The things I would recommend are;
-Susp Arm Supports
-Either the New Era Steering Kit or the better rods/horns
-Steel Bevel and Pinion in front diff.
-Fill Diffs with Oil not grease
My Mad Force is pretty worked but I still say the mad force has really good handling for a Solid-Axle truck..
Oh Yea for all the mad force guys I've said screw it and I bought two Fioroni Storm Traction Torsen Diffs in front and back.. And DAMN I have never felt a bigger difference in performance for the better.

Also, what parts do I need to be able to use an engine such as a Hyper 21?

rc10gtisthebest - looks well done. What are you using between the alu parts to prevent leaks? I used this (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCJW3&P=Z) manifold on my RG. Wish I had same idea as you before i buy it...
After your post I searched for manifolds to addapt a rear exaust to my OS RG. This (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVSEARCH=rear+exaust&FVPROFIL=++) is what appeared...

I have regular Header Gaskets between them.
It wasn't worth the effort. I just bought the adapter and header before I knew they wouldn't fit and I didn't want to waste money by buying something different so I just made those up.
Here (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAGD1&P=7) is what I used. I had to file a side down to clear the Pullstarter.

Have to agree. Adapt other than Kyosho engines on MF requires some expensive changes on exaust setup. By the way, I used this (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXU639&P=M) one when I made my try.
I great friend of mine uses a XTM engine on his LM car. I was wondering about put one of these on my MF. So seems that nobody uses other engines than Kyosho or OS RG on their MF/MA trucks. I assume I will have to be the tester for it. And your exaust addapt might be usefull in this case.;)
Do you have pics of your truck?

I'm thinking about selling some stuff (non-rc) and getting a mad armor.
Now...when I look at the pictures of the MA i see that it has a ladder frame with what looks like plastic covering the holes in it  Then when I look at the MF I see no holes  So basically does the MA have a TRUE ladder frame, or is it just decals?

Hi, all.
I just ran my Madforce. When about 1/2 tank is done, the truck started acting strange.
It looks like 4WD is turned to front drive biased AWD system. The front tires are spinning (almost smokin'), while rear wheels are almost being dragged by front tires. No drive shaft pop-out here.
It was kinda chilly outside, so I didn't care to look closely. When I spun front & rear wheels, I did find something strange response from center chain pully to rear drive center axle.
Any idea? I will probably check it out later.

ExtremeDuty - the MF/MA have a one way bearing on rear. I assume that this is not the problem of your truck....
If a shaft pop up you might have an answer to your question. But you said that it is not happening  Any strange sound coming from rear axle? Is the rear axle locked? When you turn the rear shaft with your hands does the wheels spins? It might be the dogbone(s) to left and right wheels inside of your rear axle that might be loose... Or the dif itself.

Ok, I've been really busy... Had to turn in my class project, homeworks, and my full time work.
I didn't have a chance to look at it. Maybe this Saturday, I will find some time. The truck wouldn't roll freely if it's pushed by hand.
From 3 speed to chain, there is no problem. Rear diff is acting kinda funny.
I will let you know who it goes.

Ok, I've been extremely busy from work & school...
Today, I finally ran my Mad Force to confirm where/what is wrong.
The strange behavior of having a big differential in wheel turning is due to ground rear pinion and ring gears.
They worn down so bad.... I guess I'm going to order optional steel ring & pinion gear.

I am having a problem with my Mad Force. First off, a few days ago the U-Joint cup on my front axle broke and my front driveshaft fell out and I couldn't find it, so I hadn't run my truck for a few days. I am still waiting for the replacement joint cup and driveshaft, but I went to run the truck again (I planned on very gentle running to keep stress off of the rear driveshaft). I then found that I could barely push/pull the truck in reverse (this is before I started it...I was positioning it to gas it up.) I know it is not a problem with the front axle/diff (it is free-spinning), and I think it is neither a problem with the rear, for there is also extreme resistance when I spin the transmission gears in reverse with my finger, for that does not spin the rear axle. I also found that once I start the engine, it idles at an extremely low RPM, yet moves the truck not at the normal snail's pace at idle but accelerates it to about 1/2 way through 1st gear. When I stop the truck either by braking or holding it still, the engine stalls. If I lower the amount of fuel that get to the engine during idle via the radio transmitter or by turning down the fuel mixture all together, the engine will not even start. It seems to me that the flywheel is jammed, but I am not sure. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Brandon

Guys, need some help here!
I wanna change my MF/MA wheels. Does anyone knows if those will fit?
1) HPI Type F5 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWX58&P=7)
2) Pro Line 40 Series (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDCW3&P=0) with these tires - Road Rage (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDCW2&P=0)

Guys,
I found another way to adapt the Tmaxx/Savage wheels to a MF. Using these Kyosho parts:
1) Wheel Shaft Twin Force (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGB7&P=7) x 2 = 19.98
2) Wheel Stopper Twin Force (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGB8&P=7) = 16.98
3) Wheel Nut Twin Force (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGC0&P=7) = 3.99
4) Optional to keep the original wheels without unassembly the new setup: Wheel Spacer Twin Force (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGB9&P=7) x 2 = 10.98
Total = 40.95 or 51.93 with item 4. A little more than New Era Adapter...
Hope it helped!! :D
I know this has probly been asked, but i dont feel like reading through all the posts.
I was thinking about getting the mad force and i wanted to know what it was like. The front drive axel looks plastic. Im not fond of plastic execpt nylon stuff on trucks but dose the axel brake alot? I mean it looks like there isent realy a front bumper. Also how dose it stand up to the other trucks such as the monster pirate , kyosho mega or even the t-maxx ?

its nylon.
Very strong.
can be broken.. if your into flying trucks.

It doesn't handle as good as most monster trucks because this is a solid-axle design. But its tons of fun for bashing and 'Attempting' to race.
Axle is nylon and holds up well. Doesn't break.

The Mad Force RTR has standard 14mm hex's and uses 19mm adapters to use the Mad Force wheels it's shipping with. I going to be getting myself the Mad Force RTR. Then I'll get the set of Imex Jumbo Kongs to put on it. On another note.
What can I use as a suspension limiter like the full size monster trucks use ?
fuzzy2133
06-28-2004, 12:11 AM
as in limiting the the suspention extention? just some sort of string from the axel to the bumper or side plates will do it.
as for handling it is not all that much under the other MT's once all the slop is out of the steering. I like the truck better when I want to go have fun. the stock engine fires right up and runs consistant.

06-28-2004, 02:47 AM

As you can see from my picture, I would recommend an extended chassis and a better wheelie bar. High torque steering servo, titanium drive shafts. I am in the process of strengthing the steering linkage, so I would also recommend that too. I have just finished the "break-in" process, so I have not unleashed this truck yet.

Darren, who makes the best extended chassis? Also, i know with my Savage that when installing an extended chassis much modification goes into the process, is it a major issue w/ the MF? Also, i know the MF chassis is much like that of the Savage TVP design, designing/fabricating these chassis look quite simple and is simple that i am very capable of. Thanks for the heads up! -ben

Yes, the extended chassis is very easy to install, I just undid one side, installed the new chassis plate then went to the other side. I don't think your missing anything, and the aluminum shocks work fine. I'm not an expert by no means, but I usually only upgrade performance parts, not cosmetic, and it seems as though you are on that path, plus my wife would kill me if I spent any more on my trucks, thank god for my son, he loves the trucks.

once the engine is tuned, with proper throttle controll you can wheelie till you are wide open.

Mine would not wheelie either. I even went as far as it was struggling for fuel that's how lean it was.. It was fast but it never wheelied. Until I got the RG . But then it still has troubles wheelieing. I think it's because it has to much slippage in the drivetrain for some reason...

if your engine is tuned right, wheelies are a snap. mine has so much power that you just need to give it 25% throttle for it to wheelie. Punch the throttle and it would flip over before you can say flip, no joke. i have the stock motor and im using 10% red alert. its all about the needles ;).

After much thinking, I decided not to purchase or fabricate a aluminium wheelie bar because the stock wheelie bar is designed to flex to take the impact of the wheelie rather than transfering it to the chassis. If this transfer were to take place it could cause damage to the main part.
So.....Picked up some airplane tires and strengthened up the stock setup a bit.

What is the best cure for the sloppy steering?
I run mine at very rough dirt, so front axle mounted steering servo would be destroyed in a minute. The front axle tube is used for crushing down obstables... :D
I don't see any reason the optional (Kyosho) steering rods would reduce the steering slop. I want to keep the black steel rods as my truck goes over all the bad places.
Would aluminum steering thingy (forgot what it's called) solve this problem? Still I'm worried about aluminum parts being damaged.

the aluminum steering cranks? the flex in the cranks will be gone and they will still wobble a little. you need to run a longer screw through the cranks and suspention links and use a lock nut on the other side, then add a second steering rod from the center of one crank to the center of the other so they will move even less.
added: I run in terrian where there are some good sized rocks that get kicked up by the front wheels and have not had any trouble yet. I would get the kit to mount the servo on the axel if I could find a way to totally protect it from damage causing objects.

Has anyone any good ideas on how to lower the ride height ?
I was thinking about these from New Era
http://www.neweramodels.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?session_id=vlfuvlychasaepljtbojkbjvmgddlh bi&part_id=1377
But wanted to hear 1st hand if anyone has used these ?
Thanks for any tips !
Chris
Since MF is not a touring car, I'm trying to think simple and easy. I just lowered mine with shock collar adjustment. Also additionally you can lower better with the optional yellow soft spring. They are much better for off-roading compared with the stock redish orange ones. Oh, the yellow springs are much shorter than stock.

Quick Question about the Mad force - with the wheesl off the ground I spin either rear wheel and the front wheels dont spin with it .. Same thing with the front wheels - I spin the front and vice versa the front only spins ..
Then when I grab hold of the Dog bone front or Rear center and spin it all of the wheels will turn - This make any sense ? Can someone else try it on theres and see if its full time 4wd ? .. Every other 4wd vehicle I own does not operate like this ..
fuzzy2133

the diffs on the mad force are "open" diffs. there is no fluid or "limited slip" on the stock mad force. when you spin one of the tires on the front or rear axel the tire on the opposite side will turn in the oposite way and the drive shaft will not move. if you grab both wheels on one axel and spin them both in the same direction (like roilling forward) then the other wheels on the free axel will spin. make sense?
Hey 1 Bad STi hows your wheelie bar holding up? Nothing has been said so it must be doing well.

No it's not all about the needles. I am a very good tuner. I used to tune for a few of the racers around hear and they never complained about a lack of power or overheating.
So no it's not jsut about tuning... ;) :p
Hi, i'm from Indonesia n i'm very newbie :p
I need your help about tuning, how we can detect the engine setting is not right or when we know that the engine need tuning? And can you sharing how to tuning the engine for the best setting (step by step if possible :p )

Hi, I was thinking of getting the madforce for christmass and just wanted to know a few things... I know that every veichle has its own lil "quirks" and I want to know what they are for this truck? So far, all I know is that the steering is a little bit sloppy, but there are a few fixes for it... but so far, how good is the 3 speed? do you guys have problems with the diffs? axles?
etc.
As of now, I have planned a few hopups.. I was thinking of an O.S. rgx and to run that engine, Ill need this (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCJW3&P=Z) right? and what will I need to run dominator wheels?
thanks,
Anthony
p.s. just curious how this will handel on the track.. ?

reinforcing the links on the suspention with turnbuckles is another item that needs attetion. the three speed i have had no trouble with, you might want to change the screws holding the ring gear with some machine thread allen's since the self taping screws will back out, and yes that is the header needed to run the OS RG-X engine. to run dominator rims you just need some tires of your choice. I only use my force for bashing so I can not answer how it handle on a track.

you could try ebay, the performance is great even with the stock kyosho engine the three speed tranny really shines. you aso need to keep in mind the Mad Force is a light truck given its size. Kyosho needs to get some optional pinion gears so you could get some better gear ratios for the other engines people have been droping in.

Will the UE super shocks fit the MF? Do you think the white springs will be soft engough, because I know on the MF most of the weight is in the axls and tires... its quite a bit lighter isnt it? I just wanted to know. cuase I already have some UE shocks laying around... =)
fuzzy2133
11-22-2004, 09:04 PM
I know the Mad Force shocks are off of one of kyosho's buggy's, if my memory is right the white springs from UE will be way, way, too stiff for the truck if the shock length is right. Hey give the UE shocks a test on the Mad Force and see if they work or it will ned some work. Let us know if you do, you might be onto something.

Well, I have a few questions aside from the one above. Does everyone think this truck will be discontinued since the recent release of the Giga Crusher? What modifications are required to make this truck stable over bumps and jumps, less flipping? I have heard that the Mad Fprce is unstable. I want to buy a truck that will be on earth a little while, but not quite as much "mainstream".
From all the posts (skimmed) I haven't seen any posts about how the truck performs. I have seen some complaints and some raves, nothing in detail.
fuzzy2133
12-21-2004, 10:49 PM
I can not answer the best deal question I will try and answer the other questions. Discontinued that is hard to say, if it does the Giga does share some of the drive train parts, other parts come from the buggy's and that leaves minimal mad force only parts to find. The stability over uneven terrian is not the best however that is also due to the fact it is a solid axel truck. sadly the solid axel trucks get compared with independednt suspention trucks, these are 2 different suspention designs and this has led to the other trucks being main stream. as for the truck flipping I have only flipped it by hitting the brakes fast and hard, with the stock engine no matter how hard I wheelie on to the wheelie bar it has never flipped that way. Hope this helps.

I'm still here. Sadly I can only answer one of your questions partly. I know on another forum someone used a tiger drive system and mounted so that you could start the engine from under the truck. I still use the pull start and it starts every time in 1-4 pulls.

great nice to know someones still here do you still own your truck.I use the pull starter aswell but have now broken 1 for the last time ive had other cars with pullstarters and they have lasted as long as ive had the cars. what would be so hard for manufactures to use steel wire or something simular.
fuzzy2133
05-02-2005, 11:33 PM
Still got it. I have not had much free time lately kinda miss the sound :( . I thought the same thing untill one day I realized that the string/rope (whatever you want to call it) is the best choice. it is cheap, easy to work with and is reliable when it is not abused (some times this one does not apply). steel wire is hard to work with and is expensive. the other thing with steel is think of the damage that can occur if the pull start mechnism was not the weak link? Pretty ugly. If you wanted to you could more than likely go to a engine that has support for a shaft start system and in the process upgrade to a stronger engine. only problem might be the brace right behind the engine.

on the rtr forces they come with a 14mm hex(maxx size) and have an adapter for the 19mm hexes(stock force wheels) you if you own a rtr you can run any maxx size rim, but just outta my use of mine, make sure u look at the offsets.. alot of people switch to 17mm hexes to run Ofna rims witch offer the most offest.

I was running my truck this morning when I noticed the wheels were hopping like crazy. What I did was put the truck so it was on it's rear wheels, and I tried spinning the front wheels while they were in the air. They didn't move, so that was good. Then I tried the reverse, front wheels being on the ground, and the Rear wheels spun freely. I then revved the egine a bit while the wheels were of the ground, and pressed the break, and only the 2 front/rear wheels stopped (can't remember which). So I was wondering, is this a diff issue? If you guys can list the parts that I would need to fix it, that would be great, thanks.
NIKOSZ
07-20-2006, 03:16 AM
first of all you need to check your screws are all tight. check if the driveshafts do turn the pinions.
is it a new force? if not, then check the one way. is it working properly or is it slipping? the force has a center one way. when the ruck is pushed by the engine to roll on the ground, the one way engages the shaft and you have front wheel drive. if you notice carefully the brakes are located on the one way. and it works exactly the other way around. when you apply pressure on the brakes the one way blocks the rear axle as well. of course all this can be demonstrated when the truck rolls and not in the air.
the hopping of the wheels (if i get u correctly you mean the wheels seem off balanced when running in smooth surfaces) is common to all force owners. don't bother running on parking lots.. the truck wants dirt....
zero sk8er
07-20-2006, 04:02 AM
The wheels hops much more often, and I think it's because all the power is applied to the front. It has also stopped doing wheelies, earlier in the day the truck was popping them easily. It has about a gallon through it, and I have a tendency to spin out on the dirt alot ;), so it's probably the one-way like you said. I'll go ahead and check out the screws and one way tommorow, thanks.

hello everyone. as had said in the past the only thing remaining for my force to be upgraded was the engine and possibly the chassis. finally the time for an engine upgrade came a little bit sooner than anticipated... a fried piston on my stock 21 motor..
i was thinking of installing the lrp .28 engine and got many positive comments for this choice. however a visit at my lhs (who by the way carry lrp products) changed my mind. the guys over there advised that the lrp engine is bit difficult to tune and an expensive solution that in addition will make the truck not easily driveable. i was suggested of installing the kyosho .28 engine (the one that comes with the inferno st+gt) as a cheaper, stronger (than the .21) and honest solution. it is a direct fit and even though it is not that great in horsepower compared to the lrp, it will be more than fine for my mf. what are your opinions?
what has to be noted is the almost half amount of money for one option against the other..
ending, the guys at my hobby store have installed this kyosho engine at their owned mf as well, and it is indeed fast compared to mine...

I'd say these guys definately know what they're talking about and are giving you good advice. I haven't driven a Kyosho .28 powered truck, but I've heard it's a pretty good engine, and with not a lot of weight and a 3 speed, it doesn't take much to move a Mad Force, so I'd try it. It's hard to give you an honest opinion since I have no experience with that engine, but I am really impressed with your LHS. That seems to be excellent advice...well backed by logic and experience. I haven't even met them and they've sold me. If I were buying the engine, I'd take their advise and run the Kyosho .28.

I too have read many good things about the kyosho .28, but if you want to go with a different engine, I believe New Era carries everything you need to convert (motor mounts, fly wheel, bell guide, shims and exhaust manifold. If you have the rtr manual, it also illustrates the parts need to use different engines...in this case a os .21.....check out the kyosho site and download one of thier online manuals (pdf) if you don't have it...im sure its there...but haven't checked. ;)

finally i went with the kyosho solution. cheaper and easier. with the money saved (ok and a lot more) i got myself an inferno str... :) :) :) :) :D
but the force is now unbelievable. unlimited power due to the 0.28's torquy nature... can now do wheelies with second gear. can hold idle like a dream and do not get crazy temps as well...the only thing i need to see is the tolerance of diffs + gears with the added power... of course i had changed everything but again u never know...
i have all the manuals (yes i have the rtr version but also have the kit's manual)
