In my opinion, O.S. engines are over rated... way over rated. Ive seen a few of the OS 4cy engines that run good, but only considered 'good' when you compare them to themselves... A lot of people say that magnum's are just a re-worked OS engines with a Magnum lable on them, and if thats really true, then Magnum knows something about OS engines, that the OS engines dont, because Magnums run better. I've never seen a Saito deadstick, and they do put out more power than the OS... Its really just a matter of what your eleavation is, and how you break your engines in, and what fuel you use (well, and of course, how well you are at dead stick landings :D ) Any engine (of the right displacement) will pull your plane, some will just do it better. If you know a lot about 4Cy engines, then you'd be better off getting one of them YS engines... they are a little more complex with them cams an stuff, and the price, but they are top of the line (just my opinion)

i own a saito .72GK. i have been very pleased with my saito.
after break-in you will have to turn the LOW speed needle in at least 1 turn.(after the high speed is set). because of this some people label this a bad engine. its not a bad engine!
it has never given me any problems.
a friend of mine has a os .91 w/pump, it also runs very smooth and seems equally reliable. they both have a different sound. the saito has a more realistic, throaty sound than the os. IMO.
the only difference between them is that the saito is a one piece head, and block design. and the os has a separate head , and block, which would mean one more joint where an air leak could occur.
both are very highly priced, and it's your money, but i would still buy another saito, even though i didnt get a pump.

The best. Period.

Buy one, love it, feed it well, keep it a tad rich, and it will treat you well very well for a long time.

I've had 4 of them. Also had a couple of O.S's and a couple of Saito's. Don't have those anymore. Wimpy is a good word for those.
