View Full Version : TigerMoth Squadron
http://datascape.net/plane/tigermoth/index.html
I have here, is far the best flimed Squad of TigerMoth that I have ever seen.
I learned to fly the FBXL, but after owning a TM, Cub 400EP, Sukhoi, FBXL, SIG Rascal, and Watt-age Ezette (not bad for a newie) I find, that the TM is far the best plane, if your a beginner or an experience pilot.
:) (wouldn't hurt to give my two cents)

Not bad, keeps the wing straight.
I think, I'm going to use this idea, that I got my a fellow EZONERC:\My Documents\EF Download\motor mount 1-4.jpg C:\My Documents\EF Download\motor mount 5-8.jpg
this is for the M100 motor modifications.

Is that snoppy and the battery wire? I'll be finished with my moth this weekend. I just sprayed testor paint, turning out okay. I'm going to pump it up with M100 and balsa strip's from Tod's Models.

Great photo of the TM in the snow!!:D I bought my kit in San Diego at an event held by the Silent Electric Flyers of San Diego. Great website at www.sefsd.org . Check it out, it has alot of cool photos of recent events. The event where I bought my kit was called the Mid Winter Electrics. Bought the TM from Horizon Hobbies out of Arizona, for $55 cash. Great deal, and after building it, flying it , and crashing it, I love it. I use a Hitec Laser 4 radio, with subbed micro Hitec servos, and 150mah batteries. I have heard that 300mah batteries are the way to go, will try that next. I am also trying a 9x4.7 prop, will see how that works. It is off of another GWS plane, the light stik I think.:)

2NG,
Todd's website is great!:) What a fantastic resource for upgrade parts. Thanks for the tip, as soon as I scrape the dough I too will pick up the M100. Any experience with a 9x4.7 prop?? My local hobby store (Hobby People) was out of 9x7's, so I picked up two of the 4.7's. Less thrust I am assuming??  However, I just went to the Horizon website and ordered two of the 9x7's and a new "nose cone," er, "cowl.";) :D Thanks again for the feedback, this is a great forum/thread. :) :) :)
jtht3,
I am glad that you like it. HAPPY FLYING.:D

I wish I could do that. The Web-Site I mean. The painting too. What kind of paint do you use on that airplane that won't destroy the surface ? I used a black marking pen, and it is really not adviseable. I have more to paint (a SunWheel Fuse) and don't know what to use.

Merlin,
Sooo, sorry for this late reply, but to answer your probably already answered question. For the paint on my TM (Lost PIC. Due to comp. crash) I used a testor spray paint.
Ohh! yeah, you got a Sunwheel? I was looking into that, how does it fly? Is the foam tougher than the TM?

Well, after landing/crashing into a chain link fence, and hand launching right afterwards, the pop I heard going into the fence was the wing cracking. Both of the right side wings came off, sending fuse and all related parts directly into ground. Yes,
Virginia, it broke my freshly repaired motor mount:mad: Back to the epoxy and Dremel. However, this time I was able to cut out old balsa stick (broken off in fuse) and then hollowed out epoxy/balsa combo with Dremel. Bought some light balsa stock, cut it down to fit into hole, and, viola!! Mount fixed. Epoxied wings, tore off old wing tape on top wing, and put two new beads of epoxy on top wing to strengthen. I have to wake up my 2 yr old son:D so I will write with more details later. Have a great day:D :D
check out my new thread on charger and prop saver.
Man,
That's a nasty crash.
After the crash that left me somewhat disgusted. I decided to get a new wing. (Fixed the old one, and storing it for future use, probond glue for strength, and flxibility) here a pic of the chrash:
A preview: Chrome testor paint and black streaks. l
