Very nice... I wonder what's holding back Tamiya USA then...
I know some people have gotten theirs directly from Japan LHS that sells oversea.. but I'd have thought that all North America shipment will arrive at similar time.. guess not, ha!!
The only videos are the 2 that I posted already... didn't do a video of it this time out.. driving with one hand while taking pics with the other is hard enough for me, filming is even worse.. ha!

You are doing a good job in taking action pics and driving at the same time. Your camera shots are stable and clear.

Ha, thanks! They turned out not bad.. but I'd credit that to the truck and the weather (sun shine!) and not to my driving nor photography skills. :D

If I want to go for realism, I should put the 2.4GHz receiver in the truck so I don't need to have the antenna tube sticking out! :D

Went to the local park and ran my clod. It is really hard to drive and point then squirt. Anyways, this will do for the moment:

For sure they will be back ordered already once the initial shipment comes in. Look for other alternatives cfjan.

Ha, I have pre-ordered it so they should fill my order when they come in...
I am a sucker for Tower.. usually they got the best price.. !
Your shell w/ the body mount on the side -> is that the standard CR-01 setup?!
4wdmt
04-21-2008, 02:41 PM
Nope. That is from stampede body mounts. The chassis rails have so many holes, you can add anything you want, lol. the rear body post for thise CR-01 is tall but adjustable. I don't want to cut it just for that P/U body.
I'll take some pics later.

The trick w/ Tower is to always find the right coupon... :D

I agree. I really like the "stock-ish" Clods too. I have a fully modded one but would like to do one up like Timmers...

Thanks for the compliments,
ok, here are a couple of "nudes" of my clod. I just 4 linked it in the stock holes on the chassis with threaded rod and brake line. On the axles I ran a small allen head screw through a captured ball end and a spacer above and below the axles. Also I'm running a Novak super duty speed control and 600 Titans off of my emaxx.
It's 11:00 at night so It was hard to get good shots with my old crappy camera. If there is interest I'll get more/better detail for you guys later.
Timmer_71
07-08-2008, 11:08 PM
Also I'm running T/E-Maxx shocks that are attached to the top 4-Link rod and I made a small "Lift kit" out of aluminum that attaches to where the top of the original shocks attached to push the suspension down a little bit to allow more flex without the top of the steering rod hitting the bottom of the chassis.
I extended the wheelbase by 1.5" if I remember correctly. It took me a few tries with the threaded rod to get it to look just the way I wanted it too then I cut the brake line to fit over the rods.

Nice Clods people! Good job for those who still use the stock chassis :D
I just started to work on my Clod again. It's not meant to be a crawler, monster, puller, trail, mud bogger...you get the point! Trying to keep it simple. I already have a modded Clod ;)
Revo pushrods
TLT link mounts
TLT shocks
Narrowed Pede rear wheels
Moabs
That's it. I had to cut the chassis for clearance. I am planning to cut it more and change out all the oem rod ends to Traxxas.
4wdmt
07-17-2008, 11:46 PM
Is this the same chassis you posted at RCMT? Those narrowed wheels and MOAB looks good with it. What adapters are you using?
Nice MODs btw.

Thanks.
LOL yeah, it is the same chassis. The only difference is I just put those wheels on today and took better pics =P
There are no adapters needed. These wheels were actually on my TLT crawler. I had to mill out the centers because you know the TLT axles are too short. Now putting them on the Clod I used Tamiya plastic bushings for the spacers. They fit perfectly inside the centers. Btw, the chrome RPM wheels that you saw is a perfect fit. No spacers or anything needed if anyone wants to know =)

So I was going through my parts box and remember that I had TLT rod ends laying around. Luckily it was just enough to do the whole truck. Didn't have to spend a dime and plus its better than Traxxas ends (which I was going to use).
These suckers pretty much took out all of the slop it had before. The only slop it had was from the rear steer bellcrank (worn out). I also moved the links above the steering arms.

@Timmer_71: That's a really nice build, I think the Clod shall be my next project. I've got an e-maxx and e-revo but they both such limited 'tinkerability' compared to a clod.
Timmer_71

Pasan - That's what I like about clod's too. I also have an E-Maxx (Brushless) and several other rc's but the Clod is just made for tinkering around with. I still want to improve the steering on mine without putting the servo's on the axles and maybe a couple of other little things.

hi. question. decided to get a clodbuster. will be my first hobby grade rc. done so many static displays that i need something more complicated. have most everything picked out. however. i am confused on exactly how many servos i need. from what i gathered i need two. one for the msc. and one hi torque for the steering. it has 4ws, do i need a separate one for the rear steering? trying not order more than i need. will just be setting it up stock for now til i can afford upgrades. it will just be something to screw around with and annoy the fiance/cat with. also curious to know how much time some of you guys are putting into these things. more or less who has built it stock. how long? still have a lot to learn about these things.
4wdmt
12-09-2008, 05:10 PM
If you are planning to build the kit as-is. You will be needing 2 servos. 1 hi-torque servo for steering and 1 standard servo for the MSC. The steering servos will connect both front and rear steering links, so you already have 4WS right of the bat.
As you mentioned, you are planning to make it stock for the moment till you afford any upgrades. But one thing that really needs upgrading before building the kit - full ball bearings. They are cheap. most especially on ebay. You will save yourself from taking it apart again in the future. Next upgrade that I really recommend is ESC.
By the time you played with this thing stock, you will know why there are so many aftermarket stuff you can buy to make it the way you want it to be.
If you can wait a little bit more, the new super clod buster chrome edition will be out soon:
