Anyone have an RS4 Sport 2? I got one and wonder how people have modified them to perform? Before I get bashed on, I am on a budget and got this one new in the box for $100, I know it is a little old. I am new to on-road and wanted to start out simple. It has a Novak reversible ESC and Peak Aurora racing motor. I had these components laying around and put them in it cause it was all I had. The thing flies around my neighborhood. Any help is appreciated.

That is still a very popular car. I think I like the new RTR 3 better because of the shaft drive, but I certainly wouldn't pass up a "2" for $100 new. :D

You think $100 was too much?

Bob Hastings told about a company called Hobby Tech as a place to go for wheels. I'm having trouble contacting them. Do you know if they are still in business? Do you how to get a hold of them?

I tried those numbers they list on the website and I get a message saying they are out of order. Do you know of any other numbers to get a hold of them? Thanks for helping me on this.

I'm sorry, but that' the best info I have. Is there a certain type of wheel you want? maybe you can find it elsewhere if you're not able to get in touch with them.

no one else has a sport 2? I just found this thread... and i want to keep it alive! This is a very competitive car! I know, it's not graphite, or carbon fiber... but its the next best thing, fiberglass!! I have won many races with my sport 2. I would want a pro 2 over a pro 3, but i didn't have enough money for one at the time. Anyway, i still win races over x rays, tc3s, pro 2's and 3's. It helps to have a good, expensive car, but it is all about the driving baby!

Garrett-
Thanks for writing in. Since I started this thread A LONG TIME AGO, I've made many adjustments to the Sport. I don't have a ton of cash so mostly chassis tweaking. I run an Aurora Racing motor by Peak. Have no clue about the motor, got it in a trade. I just know that with the stock gearing it hauls butt. I had a kid at the track go "is that really an electric?" Nothing fancy on it either. I did put HPI X-pattern radial tires on it. For my track/ driving style, I have put 3 degrees camber into all four wheels (I think that is how much). I used the extra parts that came with the kit, then I cranked down the links to get the top of the tires in. When it is sitting still, all four outter sidewalls of the tires are off the ground resting on the inner sidewalls. When she is moving though they flatten out and when I go into a corner they make total contact giving them the most traction. It is an odd setup to some, but for me it works just fine. Still perfecting the setup though. There is a pic in the "paint, detailing" section under "first mask job" (wouldn't let me post it twice). Tell me what you think and we can keep this going. Glad to know someone else has a Sport 2.

I forgot to include you in the last reply. As far as I know the cars are the same. Difference is the Sport 2 uses the same steering/ frontend setup as the Pro2. Other than that I don't think they are that much different. Glad to here there are still some out there running. These are good solid cars. They don't cost an arm and a leg either. Really lets you do what your supposed to and that's DRIVE. Thanks for writing in.

I've got you all beat. I found a HPI Pro not pro 2/3 or sport. I bought ot off eBay for cheap. I have the Pro2 A Arms so I can convert the front suspension, but all else is pretty much stock. I'll add the RR diffs, aluminum knuckles front and rear, pruple side brace and call it a day. I thought about converting it to Pro2 spec, but it would be pointless (I would need upper and lower chasis, the Pro is 2mm shorter, and it makes a difference).

well i run my sport a lot, but not as much anymore. I got a Storm, and this thing is awesome! Anyway, my Sport 2 is helluva lot faster than my Storm if that tells you anything. I have a custom 10X2, hand wound motor that my LHS special orders from some place in Arlington, Texas. The company is called Light Speed. It hauls serious ass. I figure that it goes around 65mph easy, and yes i race it like this! I have to run treaded tires at my house though, i don't treat my driveway and it's smooth concrete w/ a lot of dust. The treads make an awesome screaching noise when i peel out or skid to a stop or power slide around a corner.
The rims with the treads are chrome gumby, and my slicks are the stock rims w/ new tires.

I just got the Sport 2 yesterday with Hitec Lynx AM Radio & Novak Explorer II ESC used. It is nice. Very quiet car. I raised it up a little and used TC3 Spring for the front. It is more stiff.
I'm planning to get X-Pattern tires, a mod motor. The ESC that I have can handle 15 turns. Which motor should I get? What gearing should I put on it to go fast? Right now, gearing is 87/26 wiht P2K

Sport 2 is a great car, I hope this thread can wake up 'cause I know about 3 other giuys that run them, and everyone needs support at times. I have a good setup and I beat TC3's and XXX's daily. For the price I don't see what's better.

I just got my hands on a PRO sport 2. Can I join this thread too? I am still trying to work out the slop in the steering and the gearing. I was wonder you guys reccomend. I have a speed gem 13 turn motor and 27/90 gearing at the moment. But after looking at the manual it looks like I am little under geared for this car. I am thinking about going to 38t pinion and 106t spur what do you guys think?
Dirty-Redd
09-25-2002, 09:34 PM
If you us that gearing you'll tear up your car. The largest gear and spur you can use on the Sport2 is a 34T pinion and a 93T spur. I personally use a 28Tp/87Ts, and it's very fast with an 11T motor. Remember, each car is geared differently, and your motor plays a major part as well.
As far as setting your car up is concerned, sometimes it will be more difficult then other cars. But once it's locked-in, it's locked-in!!
remember - Pinions : higher is top end , lower is torque
Spurs : Higher is torque, lower is top end
You want to get the best "Happy-medium" for the cars best performance.
If you want to drag with a 34Tp/78Ts go right ahead, but be careful because even though it's fast it'll probably burn up your motor after a couple of runs.

Thanks for the help. After I downloaded the manual I realized that I was looking at the gear selection for 64 pitch and not 48. So I went home and looked at my gearing again. Come to find out I am running 27/90 and I switched to 27/87 and what a improvement. The car flies now. Also I am in need of a new motor as my speed gem is really old and could use a lot of TLC but it works for now. I don't plan on doing any racing anytime soon so I can take my time and re-do anything that needs it.

Join the club. I too have a Pro. Some of the parts are compatable, but others are not. For instance, the lower A arms are different front and back, and the hub carriers are totally different in the front. If you REALLy want to, there is a list of what's needed that will convert to Pro2/Sport2 spec, but it really isn't worth the trouble.

I ran Pro for the second time this weekend and I am really impressed with the way it handles. I even got ran over by a few T-Maxxs and did not break any parts. I am going to take some time over the next few months and get a better steering servo and make sure everything is dialed. Then I might start racing carpet if find out a track schedule.

Alright. On a 13 turn motor. On 48 pitch.. what would be a good pinion to use? Im not sure what to put on it.
timberwolf211
10-03-2002, 08:25 AM
I have a 13 turn motor in my Pro 2 and I am running 27/87 48p gears. Also on HPI's site I downloaded the gearing chart from the PRO 3 which had 48p and 64p gears. Also the PRO 3's final drive ratio is almost what the PRO 2's is. So I use that as good refrence guide. Also I have found that the motor does not get real hot.
Dirty-Redd
10-03-2002, 04:50 PM
on a 13T I would drop my pinion to a 24 or 23 to increase your torque. Try it, the difference will be noticeable.

10-03-2002, 05:39 PM
well, i have a 10X2 and i'm running a 26/109 and my motor gets extremely hot. I don't know why, i have it undergeared by far. It gets so hot that my brushes become unsoldered! It goes about 40 w/ this gearing, but i know it can go much faster. What should i do?

Garrett
PS. I have Team Orion 2400 cells, and a novak dually esc
timberwolf211
10-04-2002, 08:15 AM
Sounds like you have it overgeared since the motor is getting real hot. I would try going to a smaller spur and see what happens.

How effective is it?
spenzalii
10-04-2002, 01:24 PM
Depends on what you want to do with the car. They made similar inner bodies for the rally and the MT. For show car or concours, or if you just want a cool look as your running up and down the parking lot, go for it. Not so great a choice for racing. You have added weight (every bit hurts...) and the motor is more enclosed (?), making it harder for it to getthe cooling air it needs, especially if your running a low turn mod

Yeah, I thought about all that. It's just that my freind runs his Sport2 like a rally car and I was curious to how effective this inner body was for prevention of debris entering into the chassis. As it is now, his belts are torn up pretty bad and are going to have to be replaced.
BTW, he's running a P2k stock motor, but might switch to a 19 turn modified someday.
Thanks

It's better than running without the inner shell, but debris stil gets in. After all, it's 2 pieces of lexan that aren't sealed by anymore than tape, if you eve use that. It will keep major stuff out of the chasis, but if you run rally, theye is still cleanup to do afterward.

19 turn ? the stock will be faster. Not worth it. Anything from like 16+ will be slower if you have a good stock motor :)
Dirty-Redd
10-04-2002, 03:27 PM
A 19T Pro Stock motor, is faster then a stock. That's why they seperate the class. And from Pro Stock you go to Mod.

yeah but like a speed gem 19 turn MOD motor wont go as fast as a 19t Trinity Chameleon Pro. ECT.... Stock mod motor

i know a way to stop all the play in the steering. on the steering arms were that metal bar is u have to drill a screw sized hole behind that bar. keeping the metal bar there u put a turn buckle there and make it push out farther than the bar. this make the bar pull the arms in, while the turnbuckle pushes out. i done this to my sport 2 and it handles way better :) :) :)

heres a way to get rid of a lot of slop:
get part 12 from the A471 tree ( i think)
the part should look like it will be a (very) snug fit between the upper deck and the right steering arm. Trim the piece so that it still fits snugly, but not tightly(you may also have to cut a part of the piece so that the servo arm doesn't hit it). Make sure that the wide part of the piece rests on the steering arm evenly. Then just screw it place with a spare screw (dont worry if the hole on the piece is small, just screw tightly so that you can twist it). The steering should still be free, but you'll notice that there is much less slop in the right wheel.:)

Hey guys, new to the forum. I just bought a Pro 2, but I can't "personally" get to like the car. I got the car already assembled, but I want a kit. the car has a few option parts : a Robinson purple anodized rear diff., graphite shock towers, carbon fibre belt tensioner, 2 sway bars, non stock springs(white and yellow/green). The car has a few scratches underneath the chassis, but that does nothing to the performance. The guy I bought it from babies all his chassis. I'm asking $310CDN or somthing like . I also have a Trinity P2K2 motor I'd be willing to throw in. If anyone is interested email me or post. thx

what turn is the motor?if its a 20 or above put a cube of ice in a plastic bag and hold it on the motor till it turns to water.
and if you have slicks rub sunscreen into them, let it sit for about 5 mintues then wipe all of the sunscreen off till the tires are dry
at www.towerhobbies.com you can do a searsh under pinion and youll have to scroll through a few pages till you find a 21-30 tooth pinnion set of 9 for 9.99 but make sure its the same pitch as your spur so theyll mesh good

My folks just ordered me on the Syliva version of the RS4 Sport2 for xmas. I was a pretty surprised to tell the truth. I have run Tamiya cars for a long time now mostly the TL01 frame. I am curious to see what the handling characteristics are of the sport2 vs. the TL01. Nice to see there a forum here where I can learn something about this car. I haven't built it yet since I dont get it till xmas day. I was wondering a couple things though...I will be transplanting my Trinity Gem2 Sapphire as well as my Novak Reversible Rooster from my old TL01 into the new Sport2, do you guys think that would be a good setup for the sport2? Or should I leave that drivetrain in the old TL01 and opt for different parts? Also I will be building the car soon and was wondering if there is anything I should watch out for during the assembly process? Any tips or tough areas I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for all your help.

I had a little trouble when I was putting together my steering assembly together so be careful about that. This may sound stupid but I put my wheels on backwards. LOL that sucked. I thought they were on right so I just cut my wheel wells bigger and bigger until my tires didnt rub. my wheel wells are now 4 inches long or something............. ( give me a break it is my first car) getting the steering set up correctly was also a pain. Make sure to get the survo and turnbuckles tuned correctly. It tells you how in the instructions but it is kinda confusing. and good luck. It took me about six days. four hours a day. The RS4 Sport 2 is a few years old, easy. Even Tower has the kits for $154. It's an admittedly nice kit, nicer than, say, a TL01, and it can be hopped up to your hearts content. Companies made RS4 hop-ups like they make them for the T-Maxx. That said, it's a few steps behind the technology curve in a few areas, such as the suspension (still using the same basic setup as from the original RS4). But, it is a good car that can be competitive in the right hands.

I built A RS4 Sport out of the box. I put a 2 speed trans., not real sure if it is changing gears! Using a 3000 nh-mh batt. & 17w stock with A Tekin Command 10. It seem's slower now, Origanlly stock with warlock mod motor.. Looking for the highest top speed just for play. Any suggestions?

hi guys,
have any of u seen or driven a sprint as well? australia doesnt get the sport 2 anymore, but instead we get the sprint for about $230AUS (w/o body). im thinking of getting a sprint, but im just worried about the quality of the plastics and also, even though it has the same basic design as the sport2, the parts look a bit dodgy e.g the hub carriers and diffs. also, it doesnt come with turnbuckles :(
if anyones made a comparison, pls gimme some insight.

2 speed trannies dont help much. They are mostly extra weight. Especially if they dont even work. :D For high top speed I suggest a 12 or 13t motor. with the correct gearing. That is going to make the most difference. Then you get carbon fiber parts to lighten up your car, and then you work on handling. I have a 9t double and a 14t double. I break out the 9t when I am in the need for speed but I will race with the 14t the 9t sucks up my batteries too fast and it needs a lot of maintanence.

Hi all
I hope I have the right forum for the RALLY version of HPI's RS4
I currently have an Associated T3 and looking to move into the Rally field which will enable me to easily switch between On-Road and mild Off-Road settings. I am not planning on racing at this time.
I would like to know your thoughts on this car. Is it worth approx $160 (Tower Hobbies kit LXBSX4) out of the box or are there some must hop-ups which are needed such as Ball Diff, Slipper Clutch (is it needed on 4wd)?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks for the info biturbo15. I gonna take the 2 speed back ot and get another motor and gears then see what happens! Only way to learn though is trial and error.

No, this really isn't the correct place (look under electric off-road for a RS4 Rally thread).
Out of the box it will work for you but the slipper clutch is highly recommended. There are a few other parts that are recommended for this kit as well (heatsink motor plate for one, I can't think of any others off the top of my head at the moment). The ball-diffs are recommended for on-road use only and will require a lot of maintenance if you take them off-road.

I am thinking about getting ball diffs for my sport 2. my front diff sucks. I think it is broken. It works correctly but one wheel spins faster than the other when it is off of the ground. Do you guys have trouble with your steering collums? the plastic pieces on mine are stripped. so i glued them together and it works now. Have u guys got any experience with ball diffs? or bad steering collums?

RinkRat,
The Rally does okay on-road, but it wouldn't be very competitve. That's essentially why I'm rebuilding my RS4 Rally into a 180mm RS4 sport. The rally didn't like the off road course at my LHS, so it's conversion time. But bashing in the driveway or parking lot with it is awesome. The kiddos love to see it hauling down a gravel driveway in full drift.
If anyone has some spare RS4 parts, please check out my post in the Wanted section, as I need some stuff to finish the car off.

Got it for xmas and let me say, I am very impressed with the way things are laid out. The instructions are very straight forward and the parts are laid out in a somewhat good order. I started the project a few days ago but I didn't get very far yet. I plan on building more over the course of this week. Still trying to decide what color to paint the car too.

wow becareful when you accelerate with that dude. The belt system on the sport 2 is very good but it is still a belt system. Brushless motors are design'd for a real tranny with no belts. But as long as you are not putting a lot of stress on it by accelerating fast or going from full speed to reverse and so on you may be fine. I definently want to hear how fast you end up going though! What mods have you done to your sport 2? This question is for everyone. LIST YOUR MODS! I want to do stuff but I odnt konw what is good.

When you turn at high speed, and it doesnt turn very good... Is called push. Its normal. When your going that fast there is to much force forward. If you tap the break right before the turn you should see an improvment. Just keep on the gas while in the turn to keep from spinning out.
As for flipping. oh man... yes. Called Traction rolls. When you haul ass down a Straight then SLAM on the turn. Its Slides into the corrner. If you hit a crack or something making the car to stop sliding you will roll. My Max # of rolls is about 11. wasnt purdy. :(

Hey everyone!
I have a sport 2 but I don't think I've ran it in over a year. I got the nitro bug and haven't looked back til now. I used to hang over at the HPI electric fourms last year but they have since gone down.
Anyway I'm thinking about getting back to my sport 2. I really loved that car. It's great out of the box. Might even take it to the track this year & run with the tc3's. I was thinking about maybe getting a new car but I'd rather stick with what I have.
Anyone still make hop-ups for the sport/pro 2? I might just get a pro2 off ebay and use it for parts.

Think of it this way, take your Sport2, and hop it up. I don't mean change the plastic parts for aluminum, I mean change the FRP chassis plates for sheet carbon fiber, the heavy gear diffs for lighter and externally adjustable balldiffs, the inefficient dogbones for lightweight CVD's and you have a Pro2.
biturbo15
01-18-2003, 10:12 PM
so hold on the pro 2 is better? is fiberglass better or worse than carbon graphite? How much will it cost me to get my sport 2 to turn into a pro 2?
Philly's Finest
01-19-2003, 12:12 AM
The pro2 is "better" only in racing terms. It is the same car so it's not that much better. Graphite is lighter than plasic/fiberglass. That is why many race versions of cars have graphite because it's lighter and lighter means more speed. But it's also more brittle so it will break more easily as plasitc would generally bend.
However to someone just beginning racing or a basher it won't be noticable. My suggestion is that you learn how to drive the car well, before you start pouring money into hop ups. I've seen a good driver with an average car beat a average driver with a fully hopped up car.
Also the pro2 is no longer being made. You can still find option parts for it. They are direct replacement because they are the same car. So if you really must have better parts you can find them.

so upgrading to the pro 2's carbon fiber chassi is something that I can do to my car. But as for now i should just work on learning how to drive my car better, and learn how to tune it correctly. Then later I should worry about lightening up my car. Well I plan to race soon but all of the tracks around me are outdoor and its raining often so that doesnt sound like it will happen tooo soon.

that is partially true. so if ur saying i have a 10 ton dump truck and its hauling 3 tons its goin at 35mph, then when i release the 3 tons, it'll go 40 mph?
lighter usually means getting to top speed faster, or in simpler form, a faster acceleration.

Well I didn't word it technically correctly but then again we aren't talking about dump trucks are we? Nor are we speaking about tons. Ounces in rc can make a difference and shaving as much of them off as you can is important to some people.
Still common sense & basic physics would tell you that something with less mass will accelerate faster & overall be faster then the same object that's heavier. So in essence it IS true.

biturbo, I have the graphite composite rear tower if you want it. Brand new, never used. You have to drive down to San Francisco to get it, though (actually, Daly City, just south of San Fran). I'll show you my Pro2, too. Email me if you are interested. As for weight, they're roughly the same, though you can use titanium or aluminum ballstuds with the graphite composite tower while the woven CF one needs to use the stock steel ones.

Hand Wound motors dont have that big of an advantage. In Rccar mag... there was an artical from Reedy or someone saying the quality of machine wound motors is getting sooooo good that you only have a small advantage. most is phsycological. The Ti and the d5's are both amazing motors too. i might try one of those.

But any ways I was wondering. Our car has plastic A-arms right? I might be wrong but I think they are plastic. Will upgrading to these help?

the only hop up i ahve gotten so far are rims and tires, but thats about it. the car already came with ball bearings and other carbon fiber goodies.
i guess a body is a hop up. also made custom parts for it, like a custom spoiler mount and a custom exhaust.

I purchased a USB Hub from my work. Staples. It was a 2 pack for $19.99 good price. Well anyway there was a little bump on the back whrre the huge Transformers where. Its heat bent plastic. Look around for things you have purchase. See if you have a part that is large enough. I made to hole and scred it in with the front bulk head, then bent it down and mounted it where the top chassis plate screws in... its amazingly Strong. I will look around to see if i have any too. :) glad someone liked it :(

good radios for really cheap.. as for an esc I really dont advise on going cheap on one. I suggest getting a top of the line esc. Other wise you will want to upgrade and you will realize you waisted your money on your first esc. You also need to decide weather or not you want reverse

I have an HPI RS4 Sport. I got a great deal on HPI front universals (half off) at my lhs, but they're short (for 180mm). I'm currently running a Sylvia body, and the car's built at 190mm. Are there specific HPI bodies that are 180mm? Cuz' if so, I can't find them.
I don't want to replace all my wheels with more offset ones, but I do want to run these universals AAAGGG what to do.....

well i got an rs4 pro and it comes to about 185mm. measured it, and thats pretty normal with the universal joints. i bought an rsx body and realized how deep inside the body was soo i bought the 26mm, 3mm off set y spoke rims with the 2 mm spacersfrom hpi. that only made my car 195, but noiw it looks right.
that is the cheapest way u can get to make your car as close to 200 as possible. or you can try to find another deal at ur lhs for the nitro version of the unijoints for ur car. but the rims are the only way i could think of with out buying a whole new set of uni joints. plus u can get tires to boot to match. :D thats wut i did
and how tight my car looks with them rims :D

The conversion can be done. In fact, it's shown how to do in the RS4 Sport instructions, and that's where I got my inspiration to turn my 200mm rally into a 180mm sport (that and the body my wife got me for xmas). For the most part, it's just using longer suspension links and dogbones. There are a few other minor issues, but the best thing to do is to go to HPI's website and print out the additional instruction set and compare it with your originals. That's what I did, and believe me, if you have a sport or pro to start with, it's much easier. The rally shares most parts, but I still wound up having to get about 3-4 parts trees to finish it off right.

And a new set of tires which ones are good? I plan to just bash on the street with this car, no off roading becasue I have a t-maxx for that. You have to take the courners slower lol. slow down right before the turn, then on your way out accelerate again. maybe anti sway bars to reduce the amount of shift in the chassi. Maybe the hpi sport 2 handling kit. I dont really know usually flipping is more driver than car. Hope that helped.

Is there a big difference between the Sport and the Sport 2?
Thanks!
The original sport is the same basic chassis as the electric Rally. The Sport2 is a FRP version of the Pro2. The main differences that I can see are the saddle-pack chassis on the Sport2 and the straight shot of the rear dogbones (the Sport rear dogbones are canted backwards towards the rear wheels while the rear dogbones on the Pro2 and Sport2 are pointing straight out at the rear wheel, meaning less friction at the joints).

I think that the Sport 2 is a great place for people to start. It has the aftermarket support you need for the car to grow as your skills improve. Stock, it performs well and may need only a few parts to stiffen up the chassis. A freind of mine has his converted to a rally type car, which wasn't hard to do if you choose to go that route.

When converting the Sport to 200mm or 190mm, is there any items that have to be bought. I looked at HPI's instructions on their website and it looks like there doesnt. It seems like only tie rods have to adjusted, etc.
Sorry for all the questions.

No, the front arms are different than the rear arms and they're not interchangeable.

You will need the longer dogbones. Also, if you cut the rear arms (like you're supposed to) you will need new arms (HPI arms come in sets of one front and one rear). After that you just need to adjust your turnbuckles or tie rods.

The front bulkheads from the bumper to the upper cover are the same. The diffs are the same as are the dogbones and axles. The front hubs are the same as well. The rear bulkhead, motor plate, side support plate, diff, spur gear shaft and pulleys as well as the rear belt are the same. The rear dogbones are the same as are the rear hubs and axles.
The upper and lower chassis are different. The suspension arms and front carrier are different. The shocks are different, though interchangeable (I may be wrong on this one, did the Sport come with aluminum shock bodies or plastic?). The rear shock towers are different. The front belt is longer on the Sport 2. Both upper suspension arm mounts are different, front and rear.
Any other questions?
tamiyadude, I don't have an answer for you about the Sport2 being discontinued. I sure hope not, I need to have a supply of parts for my aging Pro2.
As for the question about Sport2 or TA04, I think the TA04 is a better car, though it is more expensive to hop up (I'd go for the top-of-the-line model and go from there, it's actually cheaper to do that than to get the TA04 or TA04S and to fix it up).

PCC, yeah I atleast hope the parts stay around. I ordered a sport2 kit from Tower a couple of days ago.
Bad thing is, day after I ordered my sport2 I discovered that new HPI Electric Super RS4! I'm trying to find a way to buy one overseas and if I can, I'll be returning the sport2 to Tower for a refund (I'll just lose out on the shipping it back to them).
I don't race, just play around the parking lots and I think the Electric Super RS4 would be a better choice for me. Should have a hair better ground clearance to clear small pebbles that the sport2 would hit on a unprepaired surface like I run on. Plus the thing is soo big, it's just cool!
If my friend in HongKong can't hook me up with a Electric Super RS4 I will go ahead and build the sport2.

You can make anything fit with a little creativity!
As a saddle pack you just have to put one of the cells on top of the others. If your gonna use the stock battery pack holder and a stick pack no it won't work.
However if you really want to run a 7 cell stick pack just use velcro to secure the battery down instead of the stock stick pack holders.;)

Sorry for the splatter guys, but I thought some of you should know what's going on with the HPI challenge this year if you don't already know.
Thanks for the question. We've been doing the standard HPI Challenge series for several years now and everyone's had a great time. In order to keep getting the race coverage in the magazines we need the series to evolve to keep up with the hot trends in the industry. So this year we will shift our focus a little to emphasize the Savage trucks.
We're planning two Savage Slam events that will be fun events like the one we did last year... racing, Savage Bowling, concours, long jump contests, barbeque, prizes etc. The idea is to get together for a fun truckin' event with friends and family. We're shooting for one event on the west coast and one event on the east coast, both in the Summer so that the whole family can attend.
For the HPI Challenge, we're planning one event with the format basically the same as in previous years (nitro and electric sedans), with selected winners getting a free trip to the HPI Challenge World Finals in Europe. The race will probably be in the Summer, somewhere in the middle of America.
If your not happy about this, please go to
HPI Challange (http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34825)
if you wish to make you opinion known.
