Hey guys... I figured I would post this here for all of the RC10 enthusiats...
I have an RC10 for sale...
It has a MIP chain 4wd conversion, aluminum front block carriers and a lightweight chassis, not the golden aluminum tub... The car has been externally checked over by me and everything is fine... I ran it once with an old motor just to check it... The car runs fine... The rear uses lightweight aluminum dogbones and the front uses the MIP 4wd pieces... I have not taken apart the shocks, but they look fine... The car has been lightened with some drilling as seen in the pics...
I will get some more pics but heres what it includes:
-stock gold tub chassis with 2 front aluminum pieces -two bodies
-car with lightweight chassis and 4wd conversion
-stock 2wd transmission (completely rtr w/ diff and outdrives)
-extra rear bulkhead
-one nib front left arm
-used front right arm
-pair of L R front arm mounts (used)
-rear hub carriers (1 nib, 2 used)
-in-line steering blocks (2 used, 1 nib)
-rear suspension mount used
-1 used front block carrier
-1 used steel rear stub axle
-2 extra mip front axles
-some msc. 4wd parts
-msc. tranny parts
-shoe box full of used wheels and tires
I am looking to sell it asap... but not in any hurry... Make me offers... I do know what it is worth though... I saw one on ebay with just the original tub chassis and not in as good condidtion.. without any parts or anything... the guy had it listed for 2 days with bids up to $200 before he removed it... I asked him why and he said someone offered him a lot for it... I also saw just some misc parts for a MIP 4wd conversion sell for $170... it wasn't even a full kit... but I dont want to deal with evay so I dont expect to get as much here....

Sold!
Nice car!
I have a carbon fiber RC10 that I am racing in a carpet EDM class now. It still has the 2.25 Stealth tranny and I was wondering if I could fit the 2.6 out of a T2 in it. Will it bolt right in? Anyone have one they want to get rid of?

New to this forum, but and old timer r/c er. I have an older rc10 with the graphite bottom I bought this car new in the late 80's and have really enjoyed it. It proubly has 100,000 r/c miles on it. Well here is my problem! I have driven the tires off the thing, there down to the rims. When it was new I bought two extra sets of tires and have gone thru them as well as several motors. I have been looking for new tires, and have bought some but there not the right size and I need new rims for the back. Would like to get something as close to original as possiable...any suggestions. P.S I just bought the Associated rc10T4 rtr and boy what a diff 20 yrs makes..

I found some of the old wheel for the rc10 searching around mi local hobby shops, but if you do not find some you could replace the rear hub bearing, get some B3 universal or CVD drive shaft, and use RC10 B3 2.2 rims. You can get B3 wheels at any hobby online or at your local hobby.

Hey, thanks for the no B.S. answer, thinkin that swapping out the rear drive axles would be the best alternative. Didn't realize that the B3 would interchange with just a bearing change-out.
Thanks Again

Here is a well used RC10 I bought in 1989 Graphite body. Boy was this car the star in it's day. Still drive it around the yard. and it sure does take a beating. I still have the original box and most parts are still original to the car. I have gone thru quite a few motors. Thanks Associated for designing such a nice car.

Sweetness!
It's great to see so many vintage RC10's. I was cleaning out the hobby room a week ago and found and dusted off our (my wife's and mine) old RC10's.
Parked for 10 years...a little dusty...but they fired right up (you know what I mean). The old race batterys are in OK shape and the shocks are still full of oil too.
My wifes World car has been raced maybe twice and is in super original condition. The original wheels and tires are still mounted as well.
My RC10T is well 'used' to the point of being used up. It started as a Sport truck and was up-graded to a competive racer, which I ran until the T2's and XX's rulled my local track (MHOR in Aurora CO).

Hey Guys, great forum, Is always nice to see some new RC10 fans in here. I use to race the RC10 when it came out and I have always thought that there is no car like it. I wanted to post some pics of one of my babies. I am working on rebuilding 4 Old RC10s one Gold, 2 Black and one that I am currently custom making a chassis, some shock towers and some other parts (I will post picture later.) For the moment, this is one of my black ones. Everything in it is new and I made some graphite shock towers, tranny brace, battery brace and a small aluminum bracket to stiffen a GPM Racing motor plate with the chassis. I hope you like it. Ill post some more pics after I get the body painted.
Thanks for keeping the forum going.

Steve Pond are you the Guy that used to write for Radio Control Car Action? If so it was because of your review on the Team Losi Jrx-Pro that i purchased one, or actually had my parents purchase it for me for Christmas when i was like 12yrs old. lol I believe you said something like "it was the best kit you had driven at the time or something like that", anyway its a great car and i still enjoy it and excellent review if indeed it was you who wrote it. I see though not many people are into them these days i guess well thanks a bunch, this is a very fun and exciting hobby oh is Losi still Producing off-road buggy kits or are they all trucks now? Thanks for your time--spd :)

Hey there,
If you'll read back a few pages on this thread there is some information on that very subject.
Go with 3/16" cvd's form the b3, change out your rear hub carrier bearings from 3/8"x1/4" to 3/8"x3/16" and you can run any rear wheel/tire combination that the b3 runs. Thinking that the fronts are a straight change over.
Hope This Helps

After lurking through this thread for a while, I decided to pull out the old racer and throw some pics on here. It's the first time it's been out of its protective box in more than 6 years. Back in the day, this raced against other RC10's, hornets, grasshoppers, even the occasional Radio Shack Golden Arrows.
Pulling this out made me realize I have a date soon enough with this, some Simple Green, q-tips, and paper towels.

Well after reading some of the posts here, I was inspired to put my Team Car back together. Although I have worked for Team Losi for 11 years, I did race for Team Associated for 3 years prior to getting my job at Team Losi. I tried to replicate my RC10(the paint scheme is the same that I have been running for 15 years) while adding some new stuff. It is far from complete, but thought I would share where it's at so far. I still need to rebuild the shocks (put the collars on correctly), install the correct length turnbuckles, and just a bunch of other little knick knack things.
Thanks for the look,
Rich
BTW I'm still looking for the Mirage body, the body pictured is the Turbo Mirage.

I also was thinking about getting the C-chassis, BUT I figured it's just too easy to make one yourself. That is the case because the RC10/T have the seperate nose plate. So all y ou need to do is gat a sheet of carbon fibre (2.5-3mm strong) cut it like the original chassis, and add the nose plate and the connecting rods, a rear bumper (GT?) and you're set.
I think the narrow front GT a-arms are just like the worlds front. I have found a direct fit for the rear length wise. They are from the Graupner radicator 2.
Will post pic and part #.

Hey guys/gals I was just talking to a friend today and was telling him about some of my old rc's.
I was telling him about a RC10 I had back in '85-'86 It had a stretched fg chassis and was converted to a truck.
Anyways I was wondering if anyone remembers the old jg. mfg. wheel adapters for the RC10 that allowed you to use 1/8th scale buggy tires?
What sparked my memory is my rc18t. I just got some wheel adapters for it to allow me to run TC rims, and it reminded me of my old converted RC10!

I checked RC Boyz , the kits they have are for the RC10 GT, T3 & 4 and B3 & 4. The GT kit has bearings for both 3/16" and 1/4" axles but does not mention if the rest of the bearings will fit the standard RC10.
I would think that Associated would not of changed the bearing sizes they have used for the last 20 years much so the GT kit should work.

Thanks mate.
I just spotted them on ebay myself as well , we must of been looking at ebay at a similar time.
On another note , am i correct in thinking that to be able to use the current 2.2 buggy wheels and tires i would need to buy a set of B3 axles for the rear along with the proper bearings and that the front axles are fine for the current wheels.

I'm not sure but i think you can drill out the newer rims to fit the old axles. You do have to be careful not to go all the way through. someone told me to use a countersink bit once. I would just keep an eye out on Ebay for some vintage rims and tires. I have a huge collection myself that I purchased on Ebay.

Much Mahalo Nabors!!!
Those look good!
The ones I remember where alot longer than those but this was back in the day when there were'nt any stadium trucks!
I notice it list the GT trucks but it also says any associated car or truck. I guess I'll email them to make sure it would fit a electric stadium truck? Wonder if it would fit a Losi?
Thanks again man!j
And I have to say these are some great looking RC10's!!!

I just recently started my vintage RC crusade of getting my hands on the old buggies from the 80's and early 90's that had any significance in my childhood years.
I've got my hands on a few Tamiya models as well as a "new-in-box" RC10-first release. I'm also wrapping up a deal on a RC10T and a RC10CE which are "like new".
My plans are to get all these buggies in "new-built" condition and display them - OK I may run the RC10T ;)
Cheers!
So far my collection includes:
Tamiya Falcon - New built (My first RC car)
Tamiya Hotshot 2 - Almost in new condition
Tamiya Hornet Re-release NIB
Tamiya Dyna Storm - NIB -The best 2WD competition buggy they have made
Team Associated RC10 - first release NIB (but I will build :D )
Team Associated RC10CE (Championship Edition - Gold tub, black Suspension arms, Green springs)
Team Associated RC10T - (Need to confirm which edition)
Looking for a Tamiya Avante... (they are not cheap now - why did I trade it for a BMX bike  )

Ok now i should of thought of this sooner , and you can use the original rims with the current tires.
I compete in RC Crawler comps and we are always cutting , narrowing and modifying our tires .We use tire ca to glue them back together and a slicone on the inside of the tire.
Have never had a tire come apart, now i think you could do the same witht the current tyires .Cut a section out and re glue them to the correct diameter to fit the original rear wheels. :)
When i get my RC10 i'll give it a try and let you guys know.

Hi guys, it's been a year or two since I checked in here. I'll be reading this whole thread, but first I have a quick question. I was recently given a box of rc stuff - mostly junk, but there are some old RC Car Action mags, a Blackfoot, and most importantly, an old RC10. Back in the day, I never imagined I could afford one of these, so I never paid attention to them, and don't know much about them.
This is just the assembled kit, with 2 fairly beat up bodies and the gold chassis. There are 2 motors that are by now "vintage", but I haven't run either of them yet. Everything's fairly dirty, and the chassis is scratched at the front and back. The manual looks just like the one in the ebay auction that was recently posted here, and is dated 1984. The manual is in pretty nice condition.
Anyhow, my question is, is this buggy very valuable or is it just nice memorabilia due to its condition? Don't get me wrong - it's not torn up, it's just definitely used. If there's not much value to it, I might just clean everything up, pop in a motor and have a little fun with it. If it's got some value, I need to treat it with more respect. How do I know if it's the original model? Since you guys are definitely more educated on this than I am, I'd appreciate a little feedback.
Thanks,
-Tim

well, the New in box worlds kits go for a ton, same with the gold chassis. If you really clean it up well and find an un-scratched chassis, you can get a pretty penny for it

Hello
First time posting and need some help/advice. I have a couple of gold tubs and graphites that I've had since the 80's and 90's. My kids came accross them in storage and wanted to get into the hobby. I'm trying to replace the tires and have not had much luck. Don't need original replacments but as you know the axles won't accomadate any of the new wheel rims. Can I replace the frt and rear axles? If so, any recommendations? Tks in advance.

Tks for the info on the HPIs. I've done some modifications on a pair of Duratrax but their not a perfect fit. I believe all of the GPM stuff was made recently...so they are not "period correct" and not vintage, although they would still be very nice additions to any RC10.

WOWWWWW! This topic is still going LOL! I've been away since my last reply to this thread (2004). I just scored a complete and running MIP 4x4 RC10 buggy from a former racer that had no need for it. I'm going to take it apart and transfer all the mip parts over to one of my restored buggies. I was thinking of putting them on the og rc10, but going to put them on the championship edition only cause the mip wheels look so much like the CE rc10's. I've also got some alloy rock guards for the CE wheels. They look like wheel discs and come in all kinds of colors. I'll try to post pics. WOW! still can't believe the threads still going. I'll be reading up and see what I missed out. Later,

Hey becker i was busy all this weekend, i will find time to check that kit out ASAP.
In the mean time i have a few questions about my RC10..
I got a RC10 vintage st im not exactly sure what model it is i got it for free from a friend. It has a vintage Novak 410-M5 ESC that handles up to 10 cells, is this ESC pretty good or what, what turn motor can it hold up to? It has a vintage pink motor it says pocket rocket on it with a yellow rocket picture on the motor it doesn't say what turn, can anyone identify this motor? This motor is pretty fast this truck tools my friends rustler with a 15t fireball and rooster. It has some RPM vintage front suspension arms on it too.
The only hopup i found so far was some MIP CVDS which im ordering up because i toasted the stock dogbone. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXAV59&P=V
My spur gear is shot, i need to find a replacement it has a black spur gear doest say what tooth, i tried to count by hand i got around 80-90ish.. It also has a 15t pinion if that helps any.. It actually looks exactly like this spur gear.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD255&P=7
Is there any other hop ups out there for this truck, like any new truck parts fit this thing?
I'm amazed how durable this thing is, alot more durable than my RC10 T3.. I jumped the vintage off a 10ft high garage roof landed and cart wheeled and everything nothing broke. Competed with the rustler easily durability wise and them things are durable.
brecker99
10-19-2005, 07:45 AM
That was a very good racing ESC in it's day.. I wouldn't go any lower than say 12-turn as that was considered top-end back then.. Sorry I'm not to sure about hop-ups for your truck - can you take pics of it??
Those early RC10 models were extremely durable :)

I sort of stumbled onto a guy that was looking for parts for an original RC10 (6 gear transmission and all). That got me looking around and found that a lot of replacement parts are still made for the original car. Though the rear wheels have long since vanished apparently. However, it looks to me that you want to run your car, so vintage stuff is not that big of concern. Therefore, if I were you, I'd do what I've done to my RC10T (I still race it after all these years) and update certain areas. Instead of messing around with 1/4" axles and the tiny bearings that go with them, I changed to the more modern 3/16" bearings and axles. This allows you to install modern wheels and tires. Plus the bearings are stronger, I remember blowing out the old 1/4" bearings semi frequently in the 90's with my T.
Here is the stuff:
Axle: Associated 7378
Bearings: Any 3/16x3/8 bearing, but Associated 6906
Spacer: Associated 7377
Shim: Associated 7368
Pin: Associated 6375
Rear Wheels: Associated 9491
Rear Tires: Any modern rear buggy tire. I recommend ProLine stuff maybe dirt hawgs or Step pins. www.prolineracing.com
Front Wheels: Narrow; Associated 9481. Wide; Associated 9482
Fron Tire: Narrow; ProLine 8175-02; Wide; ProLine 8176-02 or 1073-00
There ya are. A few well spent bucks and you have easily replaceable new and competative buggy stuff. Also, Tower has all that stuff in stock so you could easily get it from your LHS or, order direct from Tower.
Goodluck!

Can anyone send me a pic of the rear anti sway bar? I have a bunch of stuff in a box but I can't remember how to put it all together. It's bee 20years since I last saw one on a buggy :) I'm trying to get my old Team Car ready for a big vintage race.

Went racing sunday. Got the buggies.
There is lots of spare parts for most of the car including extra gold shocks and springs, steering and suspension arms.
I used parts to put together the gold tub chassis with gold front shocks, B4 rear shocks, Andy's aftermerket suspension arms all around and it features a nice spring servo saver similar to a T3. CVD's in the rear and stealth tranny.
The black tub chassis is stock with stealth tranny universals stock steering and stock a-arms. I need steering knuckles for the front and front axles as well as turnbuckles, tires and a body.

Hi,
I´m restoring 2 RC10s at athe moment (1 Graphite with 6-Gear-tranny, 1 gold tub with stealth) and I was wondering which spur gear I have to buy ? (Both chassis are used, and I wand to drive them.
Can anyone tell me what is
the original kit-32pitch-spur for the 6-gear
The original kit-48pitch from the stealth
and the best alternatives for (48pitch) for both
Oh, one thing: would the stealth-tranny fit on the graphite-chassis? I plan to built something like a "black-special-original-super-RC10" with a few hopups like
RPM-A-arms
Ballraced-steering
Carbon-fibre-Shock-Towers
and (if I´ll be able to find) black noseplate + black motor-mounting
black Yokomo YZ-10-wheels (yes, I found the adapters for the RC10 :p )
I´m from Austria/Europe and the old classic RC10 are relativly unknown here (the oldest RC10 most guys here can remember is the B2...), but when I take a look at other company´s Buggys from the early/mid 80s the RC10 seems lighyears ahead in RC-Offroad-design...

I´ve tried it a few weeks ago and it doesn´t work - but yesterday, it does, so I took all the manuals I could get – from the original 1984 gold-tub to the 1994 Worldscar (100MB pure information…)
The chassis on the pic comes near to my project – I´ll also dye all the white parts (for the puristst: no, they aren´t new,)
For the Shocktowers, I´ll try to get Fibrelite-parts from the UK (to match the chassis…..)
The absolutely “I want to have” – part would be the carbon-fibre-tub from ComCom, but I think it would be easier to get the 4WD-Conversation-kit that this gem…..
Heres mine set up for 4 cel operation.

Ok boys and girls Im curious of whats the going rate is for some old associated kits.
RC10 #6011 CE NIW(yes wrapper is still on it)
RC10T #7011 NIB(shrinkwrap off, but bags sealed)
RC10T #7035 NIB(shrinkwrap off, but bags sealed)
RC12E #3010 NIB (Dont know if they shrinked these back in the day, but bags sealed)
I also have NIW set of associated reedy I think they are SCR batteries. It kinda goes with the period of kits.
I love this collection and dont want to get rid of em, but I could use the money. :( Also anyone have a clue what a MRP High Roller (body is in ok condition, but the chassis is in good condition) would be worth, and it would include about 20-30 bags of parts, and 2 new rims/tires. Im definately keeping my Mounty as I cant part with that vintage RC. I guess its time as its been so long since Ive used any of my RC's that I had to register a new name as I forgot mine from back in the day. I guess I should break out my EK4 to get the bug in me again. :)

Hey buddy,
I would find that pitty to get rid of those kits for a bit money... my opinion. I am sure you are smart enough to know where to find some extra money. ;)
In best case, you would get about $1400... in the best case!

Yeah Ide definately be crying after I sold all my vintage Associated RC's. I really hate to think about doing that, but I was thinking about selling off that stuff, and alot of my old video game collection also. I really could use the cash and with both the video game collection, and rc collection im probally close to 30k tied up in that. I want to sell some of my 25-30 rc's but used gas and electric doesnt command much money like NIB stuff does, other than the High Roller, Mountaineer and a few other kits I have.
Im really torn between the cash I can get for the stuff, or just suffering and keeping the collection. If I could have all the kits on display it would be better, but I dont want my cats crushing or scratching the boxes. I guess I was gauging intrest rather than commiting to selling them, but I know the guys would come out of the woodwork if I list that stuff on ebay. The High Roller would scare me to list just for the fact that I have barely seen them listed on ebay. I dunno. ARGH!

This thing is AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!1
Man I love that car...
Okay as I've posted here I am the proud owner of an UNUSED COMCOM RC10 carbon chassis plus nose brace, shock towers etc...
I still haven't built it.
Now, would a RC10GT tranny be a direct fit to a chassis with holes for a stealth tranny?
I am thinking about a custom project, with a GT Tranny, brushless MID motor similar to the X-6 B4 conversion.
Plus I'd like to add all aluminum arms....
I have ONE set of wider rear arms from the old RPM "wider arms" Worlds kit, where you added the RC10T nose plate and had to cut the chassis next to the tranny to keep the same total width with longer arms...
Those wide rear arms are IMPOSSOBLE to find... especially in aluminum...
Anyway the picture in my head is an all black (carbon) and and silver (alu) custom RC10.
Chewie.

For two years + I have been searching for a decent Worlds Car. I just got a bid ripped from me on ebay for some reason. I put a final bid of 300.00 and it took... then when I got home from work the winning bid was 223.00 or something like that. I complained bitterly to ebay. They probably won't do anything but I felt violated to say the least.
Anyway... I really am searching for one of these if anyone has knowledge of where to find one. I'm not interested on the fact that it may or may not have original box or instruction papers.
Thanks

link to ebay bid history (http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=180000305524)
dude, you were outbid by a buck by another bidder long before i came in and bid on it. from viewing the bid history your max was 220 and was placed 9-10 hours before mine. i dont know how you can rationalize that you bid 300 and then claim i used something that erased it. you sure you just aint whining 'cause you didnt submit your own snipe in time?
i sniped that in person. matter of fact i went to kinkos DURING A DATE to bid on that. you snoozed, and you lost. you also bid 6 times, which i know is part of an auction process but completely foolish in the way ebay works unless the seller is a relative who needs cash.
whine all ya want about it, i won that listing fair and square. and for the love of god stop bidding more than you have too, the only time it means anything to be high bidder is when the auction ends. i also attached an image that shows my max bid and demonstrates an effective method of winning an auction without jacking the price sky high.
btw, if you didnt just pretty much acuse me of robbing you of that worlds car in front of everybody i coulda hooked you up. i said i had 4, a simple pm coulda worked wonders in your quest.

Dude... If you want, I can get you in touch with ebay. I had a max bid of 305.00 to be precise. I put that bid in well before the auction ended. If you look at my feedback you will see that I don't whine. I don't have reason to whine. And for your information... I didn't bid 6 times. I actually bid twice. Once with a bid of 220... and then the final with 305.
And also.. I didn't accuse you personally of robbing me of anything. I basically am stating that ebay has a problem sometimes with snipe programs and in my opinion should be disallowed.
This is the first time its affected me... but isn't the first time I have heard of a snipe program deleting an auction.
But hey.. take it as you wish.. I intended no harsh feelings over it.

Good Evening,
I just shook the dust off of my 80's gold tub RC10. I was able to charge up the old nicad batteries and still make it run. Can someone give me some tips on what batteries to upgrade too. Even though they worked, they only worked for about 4mins. The ESC is a Novak T4, orig tranny and an old hot pink twister motor. With an upgraded battery, how long can I expect it to run and how much would I need to spend. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've been racing my slightly updated (3/16 x 3/8 rear carriers, B3 CVDs, wheels and slipper) RC10CE the last couple weekends. I'm rather impressed with how well it performs given its age. I took 3rd in a field of 7 or 8 B4's and XXX variants this past weekend.
The only significant problem I'm encountering is drivetrain related. Landing off large jumps results in the diff or slipper unloading and the car is sluggish for a second or two before coming back up to speed.

I have always wanted a gld tub 6 gear when I was younger.
I finally got one, brand new, never run, w/ a 6 gear tranny. Im STOKED!
I live a few blocks from my local track, and took it and my B4 one night to show a fellow racer. I had a different racer come up to me and say " hey, i have another one like that, gld tub, its a bit dirty, but do you want it?"
So I met him the next day and got it. Car is dirty, and looks like some parts might need replacing, but Im going to fix it up and try to run it. There is talk about having a vintage class, since many of the origional Tamiya kits are being re-made.
Im digging the retro!
NOW, here is the hard ?. Does anyone still have the MIP 4wd conversion for it? or have one already in 4wd trim?

Is there some place I can get wheels and tires for the original RC10? The one with the gold tub?
I've had this car for 20 years and have barely driven it, it's like new. I even have the original Ko Propo EX-5 controller, servos, reciever and Novak speed controller I bought for it. I'm not even sure if this thing runs but I don't see why it wouldn't.
I was thinking of buying an electric car for my 7 year old son to play with then I realized I still had my RC10, I'm going to get it running again and let him drive that until I know if this is something he'll stick with or something he just wants to play with until he gets bored.

The last 3 are all one off Sand Raills. Im just about finished welding up repo's of the "Real Racing" frames. I used the photos on the Tamiya Club as a guide. One will be a 2wd, mostly stock first generation parts that will get reworked to look unique. The 2nd will be a 4wd using my own custom made beld drive and 2 stealth trans, Just need to figure out what hubs to use up front. Has anyone found hubs and stearing blocks that will fit the associated short arms or at least come really close? I can always modify them to fit. Last will be another version of the Box art 84 car but this will be in a rail version. Same look built as a tuber with a major aditude.
Ok so thats the breakdown. If anyone finds those colors I would really appreciate it. Thanks again for everyones help so far. Daniel

Ok Im going cross eyed from reading forums so Ill just ask this question thats more then likely been asked to death.
How do Make my original nylon parts super white.
Ive read about bleaching but I thought it might weaken the parts. Read about whitening tooth paste and laquer thinner.
Anyone got a tried and true solution for this. Thanks Daniel

Still have it, and haven't taken it to the track in over 9 years....Then a few weeks ago...took it out again and won in stock and mod... here is a pic of my RC10 Worlds Car Buggy. The original gold pan was replaced by a black one, and of course it has the more modern stealth tranny. Novak reciever, Tekin esc, low end Futaba radio...Big jim's motors, Orion matched cells, full titanium all over, Carbon Fiber towers, bearings everywhere.... see a pic ... http://67.168.234.39/dam3dsite/RC/gifs/darinsrc10.jpg

Helping my friend Andrea restore some RC-10's. By help, I mean when she asked how something fit together, I'd try and revive the few braincells remaining from my RC10 days. Otherwise, it's her, a manual, a gallon of denatured alcohol and three old, gold tub cars. Three grimy, rusty, broken, bent, disgusting, neglected cars.
Here's what she's got so far. It brings tears to my eyes!
Enjoy!

Ug, we got the cars from some guy who should be kept miles away from a screw driver, let alone a paint brush. The bodies were total throw aways.

SteveP,
I remember the TQ10. I still have the old issues with track reports on both that car and the RC10 Graphite. I don't think I've ever talked to or met anyone who ever owned one of those TQ10s. You ever come across any?
Hi all. was doin' some snoopin' on the net for TQ10 info and I ended up reading this post so I knew I had to register. I know this quote is from page #1 of this thread but i felt compelled to answer the question....YES. I purchased a TQ10 with the Stealth tranny back in the 80's. I didn't have any real dirt tracks to race on. Everything was carpet oval. I added a lowerig kit (not sure what company) which included a new, shorter front shock tower and all new A-arms which were angeld for oval racing. There were other parts involved that I don't recall. I ran stock/offroad class and was very competitive. after about 2 years, i wasn't racing anymore. I sold my other cars (10th & 12th scale pan cars) but I held on to the TQ10. After about 20 years, my Bro gave me a Traxxas Rustler RTR and I was hooked again. Love the Rustler but I just had to see if my TQ10 had any life left in it. After some TLC and some new electronics, I had a flashback that blew my mind. THE TQ IS BACK!!! And it is fast.
I'm sorry for making this so long but I am so glad to be rc racin' again and who would of thought it would be with a 2007 Taxxas Rustler and a 1980-something Associated TQ10.
I thought I'd get some new tires but I haven't been able to find them...any suggestions?
Thanks for listening to a middle aged kid that found his fountain of youth.

Nice car looks good. The only thing I would do to make it as correct as posible is to change the front arms. The arms that you have installed are from the RC10"Championship Edition" and your shock towers are from an earlier model. The RC10CE had six holes in the front tower and three in the rear.

Hey everyone:wave:
I have TWO rare TEAM ASSOCIATED RC10 off road racing buggies for sale. One is in excellent condition and the other is in good condition. One car is put together while the other still needs minor assembly(screws and tires). You can use one car for parts for the other or you can use both and race them. I am selling two complete cars, even though one needs minor assembly. The car that needs some assembly was driven once and the other car was driven on occasion. They have been sitting in a box in my closet, no time to drive them in college. Both cars have graphite chassis, fiber glass shock towers with aluminum shocks. both buggies have an anodized aluminum motor mounting plates. they also have the six gear tranny(i think). both buggies have full bar barrings. both trannys are smooth and diffs are smooth. shocks are smooth and hold oil with no leaks. you get one Futaba Magnum Jr. Complete radio system(transmitter receiver, and servos for one car...including the crystals!) and one Futaba Magnum sport radio system for the other car(including the transmitter, servo and the crystals but missing the receiver so you would need to buy one if you wanted to use both cars at the same time.) also included is two Novak speed controls-paid over $100.00 for each one. one is in new condition and the other is in slightly used condition(very few hours). and two motors. cars need very little work to set up. other then that.please inquire if you have any questions. I am including a field NOVAK PEAK DETECTION CHARGER( paid over $100.00 for charger) The front tires on each vehicle are in fine condition but the back tires on both should be replaced after a drive or two. Three ball barrings are missing for the front tires on the car that needs some assembly. they can be found at any RC store or on ebay for a couple dollars. THIS IS A UNIQUE OFFER AND PROBABLY ONE OF A KIND!!!!! One graphite Chassis sold for 180 on ebay, this offer has two! Please don't hesitate to ask any questions about them. Must sell asap! Make an offer. No reasonable offers will be turn down!
P.S. The car that has been run has a little scratching on the front as seen in picture. If you need to see more please let me know. everything will be sold for less then the price of one car. Thanks alot and have a great day.
Thanks,
Sean

I seem to have quite the knack for running into things I shouldn't and thus too oftne find myself in need of parts. However, since I just came out of my cryogenic state, I am finding it hard to find parts for my old b2. Currently I am in need of some front swing arms (those A arms), can anybody point me in the direction of someplace I may be able to find those?
Thanks,

I have an ORIGIONAL Never been run, yet assembled RC10 6 gear tranny and I am in the process of acquiring 2 more, one of which is the Graphite edition.
I dig the old technology and I can't wait to restore the other ones to running condition. I am hoping my track owner brings back a nostalgia class so I can run it.
My other prized possession is the origional manual autographed by: Gene Hustings, Mike Reedy, Roger and Shawn Curtis, and Cliff Lett.

Talking of signatures, I have masami's around here somewhere on the worlds warm up brochure for us competitors in 93. He gave me his signed as a thank you for helping him out. Nice bloke.
Also guys im in need of some help and you are in the know and I am not. I own a RC10 worlds, with MIP belt 4wd conversion. I have a problem, and after rebuilding everything, to new spec, the one item i need is worn out. Its the centre idler gear of the rear gear box, but the difference being is that it has a slot on one side for a pin so it can power the belt. Any ideas where I can get this idler and what car it was from as well as the part number?

Anyone know if the B4 parts can fit the old RC10?
I just raced my original RC10 and I used took the shocks off my B4 and put them on my buggy for a vintage race. It seemed to work pretty well. I hope to use the origonal shocks once I have a chance to clean them and replace all the seals.

So i grabbed my old rc10 Team for a reunion tour, and during the re-birth i noticed that the tranny is shot. The middle nylon gear is stripped. Does anyone know if there is a way to get that part or if another tranny will fit in place of the stock one. After finding the part number, my local shop said Associated no longer makes that old of a part. all help is appreicated.

Yes, but you are probably better off using the 48p, more efficient, better adjustability and more importantly, the gears inside the tranny are 48p, better to strip an easily replaced spur than to have to tear down the trans to replace an idler gear instead.

Associated only has toploaded shocks! Go to the rc10.com site and search for tips & tricks or something like that. There is a special tool to get the o-ring package out. It comes with the rebuild kit. You can get the kit in any good lhs or onlineshop for just a couple of bucks.

Like everlast says, the shock rebuild kit comes with a special tool to get the plastic retainer out, and the instructions even tell/show you how. I have found however that with some pesky retainers you can use a good 3/32 allen driver tip in the same manner instead of the tool.
I'm also looking for some RC10/T parts so if someone has any extras please let me know..
