I was just wondering if anybody knows how heavey of a model can the N20 fly. I figure it could fly a model of around 4oz because the kp00 can fly a plane of about 2oz and 4 grams. Also has anybody contducted any experiments useing the pager motors either to fly a light plane or to act as a small servo? Thanks for any help.

GWS has a N20 size motor for B2, we call B2C motor with carbon brush. Performance bu far better than Mabuchi N20 for small RC.

It's also can be add in GWS LPS and nice for slow or indoor fly

More a matter of wing loading than weight. Quick guesstimate would be 5 oz./sq. ft. or less.

Hello Thomas,
You have hit on a difficult area. I believe I could fly a model weighing 10 ounces with the N20, but it would have to be large, light, and efficient as a sailplane. The best guideline is to take a look at the models published or sold as kits that are adequately powered with a particular motor. With many of these small motors you can add power with extra batteries if you don't mind a short motor life.

Hi Dave,

Back from Toledo safely I see! :)

Thomas, if you do things right, you can use a KP00 motor to fly a 100g plane on 3 cells!

I don't know if Dave noticed, but Ken Coleman, who flew a beautiful Martinsyde Elephant in Toledo(well, Bowling Green really), was doing so with a KP00 motor swinging an 8" prop. The Elephant weighs in around 100g ready to fly.

The plane is quite majestic in the air, and flies well on this tiny motor, climbing is not a problem either. The motor does get hot, but so far it's doing well, and he's been flying it for several weeks.

With the right gearing and prop you can usually fly much larger planes than you would expect. It just depends on what kind of flights you expect.

Dave, I'm still enjoying the flight you put on with the Punkin II, I run it through my mind all the time!

Phil.
