I see there's a XXT Forum, but no XX. Am I the only one out there that still owns one?
Maybe that's why no one wants to buy it...

They don't have an online catalog, but if you call them up, they will know what you need. The manager used to be a team racer for losi, and he was giving me a kinds of tips on how to set up my car, and the hop ups I should get. They are a really good resource.

how do you mount the steering servo in the xx buggy i cant get it to fit do i need to cut the tabs off and servo tape it in please help
thanks in advance wes
mtn bkr
08-01-2002, 11:29 PM
With the XX, you need to cut the 2 lower tabs or ears (whatever they're called) off of the servo.
RallyRoach
08-02-2002, 08:19 AM
There's also 2 little plastic posts that bolt to the 2 remaining tabs on the servo. These are captured by the plate that goes on top of the servo. If you don't have them, no big loss, just tape or shoe-goo it down really good. My bro did the same on his XXcr and he hasn't had any trouble :)

Hey I was wondering what made the XXX so much better then the XX CR Kinwald?
WheelNut
08-28-2002, 02:38 AM
Well the XXX is suposed to be way easier to work on, better handling, stronger, etc...
Here's a few pics of my Bro's XXcr buggy he gots used to about $150cdn very good deal I'd say. He's running a 13t retro series motor in it, and its fast! Its strang about this buiggy that the chassis wont fit the F1 esc, but it was made when electronics were bigger(I think??) which is a bit strange.

I work in a hobby shop part time. It allows me to support my habit...er...hobby and promote RC racing. Its a labor of love for me.
Any way we shock all the Losi XX and XXT parts. As long as people are buying what we have we automatically restock the parts. We are not the best known shop for RC cars in our area either.
We still get parts for the original RC10! They are black rather than white but they are available.
You have tried your local hobby shop right?
Clod_Killer

I still race my XX Kinwald. I bought a XXX Kinwald, added a bunch more crap to it, and I am still faster with the old XX. I think the XXX looks weird too.
evader32 - The diff gear in the XXXT is different then the one in the XX or the XXT.
TOMC2002- you should be able to spin the spur gear with your thumb pushing down on the back of the car so that the tires won't spin. It should be hard to spin, but it needs to be able to slip before the diff can. When you spin it, make sure the spring and locknut aren't spinning also. If they are, then its your diff slipping not the slipper.
Clod_Killer's method works ok when you know how tight it should be. The following method of setting the diff and slipper may help get an idea of how tight is right.
1. Remove the cover revealing the spur and pinion gears.
2. Tighten the slipper all the way
3. Back off the slipper ¼ turn.
4. Hold the right rear wheel and spur gear so they cannot turn
I use the heel of my hand to hold the tire to a table top while holding the spur with my fingers.
5. Try to turn the left wheel with your left hand.
It should be almost impossible to turn the left wheel. If so stop. Your diff is good.
If you can turn the wheel and the slipper shaft is not turning your diff is too loose.
6. Tighten the diff 1/8th turn and re-test.
7. Repeat until the wheel will not turn without turning the slipper.
Once the diff is adjusted you will need to set the slipper. This can be fun!
1. Turn your radio and truck on
2. Hold the truck out in front of you, holding it by the rear wheels. The truck should hang nose down.
3. Have some one pull full throttle on the transmitter. Be careful it does not hit you in the nose.
If the truck comes up above level the slipper is too tight. Loosen it and re-test.
If the truck comes up between ½ to level you are good.
If the truck does not come at least ½ way up tighten the slipper a little and re-test.
That’s it!
;)

Does anybody know where you mount the speedo on the xxcr? I thought it mounted opposite the reciever on the side of the chassis, but theres no channel in the chassis for the wire that connects to the reciever.
On the shocktower maybe?
Thanks for any info

Basically the same way of tuning you use on new RC's you can use on the XX. You know tune with springs, camber, ride height and link posistion. There are some good sites out there giving good basic tuning info. Like the myst racing site, I'm not sure on the address, but you can do a search of myst racing and find it.

Does anyone know where to get the manual for a XX Kinwald edition? I need to clean/rebuild the transmission and I want to make sure I do it right. Doesn't the manual call for using some kind of grease in the transmission? Is there a reason for this since other RC cars and trucks do not require this? Since I probably have some old yucky grease on the inside, how can I clean it off? Also, is there a site where I can get a new body and new parts?
Thanks.

I have had a xxcr for about 7-8 years now.
I bought a xxxt based on my experiances with this car but to be honest i dont like its design as much as the xx it doesnt have a metal rear cage thats of the same piece as the motor plate which on the xx really helped keep the motors cool.
at the moment i have some proline roadrages on the back and when bashing on dusty roads etc i have tons of grip.
Last summer i tried using a techniplus 4 and for some unknown reason with this the car went ballistic all over the place and eventually shot into a hedge and broke my wing now i cant find a wing at all or the wire mount which is a pain as getting a replacement wing mount will be hard.

Anyways...
a friend of mine (racing on a budget as you'll see) recently got back into the hobby and is using my other friend's old XX-CR. We be racin at Pegasus hobbies in montclair and was wonderin if anyone knows what would be a good spur/pinion gear combo with a co27 motor (and misc. other setup info). I had my co27 in it and it didnt seem to go very fast...
...but that could be the 3000 stick packs, tamiya plugs, and "plug in" (rtr style) motor plugs on what looks to be 14-16awg wire....
but other than get deans, solder direct, etc, what else can my friend do to get it fast again? (including gearing of course).
I got a good idea for the tires since i race 2wd stock and 4wd mod there already. Any help would be much appreciated!

What I would like to get is as good a selection of springs as possible. OH and shock collars if anyone has them.
Let me know.. I am modifying a chassis so that modern cells can fit, with the short wheelbase. We have indoor offroad here.. and short is better.

Funily enough it can take 2 a123 cells side by side easily without any modification to get it to sit flush with the bottom of the chassis.

I pulled my old JrX2 (with some XX tranny upgrades) out of a box it has been in for a couple of years (~12!!) and got it up and running.
I need help getting it up and running better.
1. Any one suggest some good links to get back up to speed on the state of the sport?
2. Anyone able to suggest where to find parts for this vintage ride?
3. Anyone know if it is worth (or possible) to upgrade this to a brushless setup?
4. Any recommendations on current parts and where on the internet to buy them (charger, batteries, brushless kits, remotes, speed controls, etc.)
Thanks for the help! Maybe I'll get hooked again and feel like the kid at heart!
Thanks again,

Hey all. New to the forums here but I figured I'd share my old XX. I used to race it in the modified class at my local track down in Louisiana. I also raced it in two ROAR regional competitions. Since then it's been sitting in a box with all its trophies.
It has all the upgrades... Lunsford titanium turnbuckles, titanium nitride shock shafts, "Factory Works" carbon fiber battery holder, etc... including the Hydra-Drive slipper. I have an entire box worth of spare parts including a complete set of transmission gears, a complete backup hydra-drive plus a hydra-drive rebuild kit, three complete sets of shocks, various spur and pinion gear combos, etc... maybe I'll start racing it again!

Yeah, that's 12 year old track dirt on the tires still! :D
It's great to see so many of them still running around and competing. The XX was a great car, possibly Losi's best.

I was digging thru some old stuff to sell on ebay and found this and saw this forum. Thought maybe someone on here might be interested in this. Be nice to see someone that enjoys racing them have it.
It appears to be in very good condition, Not sure how I ended up with it but its' never seen any hard use.
