Please sign this petition to bring back the Bruiser or Mountaineer. Click here (http://www.rcbuilder.homestead.com/rctint.html) to sign the petition. This is an awesome performer. I can't stand seeing these awesome trucks have to sit around on a shelf because they are worth so much and are very old. Let's bring back the Bruiser! Thank you.

But, at the same time, if Tamiya brought back the brusier, wouldn't that make all the one that are out there pretty much worthless?
For instance - I could buy a NIB Bruises on ebay for $800, or get a BRAND NEW Reproduction one from Tamiya for less than half of that.
Hmm, what would I do? :)

It wouldn't make them worthless, but it would lower the resale value. Just like the Wild Willy. Before the WW2 came out, Wild Willys weren't cheap. But last year I got a mint WW1 for $100. It sits on my shelf and my WW2 takes a beating :)
Plus if Tamiya did come out with another three speed, the body would most likely be different so the Mounty and Bruiser (not to mention the Hi-Lux and Blazer) would still be desirable.

If the bruisers were brought back they would either have way too much plastic or cost way too much with all that metal.
I personally have 3 and i like the idea of having things of so much value to put pride into.
The people who collect them will sign a bigger petition to NOT bring it back ;) :D

well if they brought it back and made some of the metal parts plastic it would be cheaper and we could bug componies like jps or any other to make them metal parts for it like the clod i don't think after market parts will ever die out on that one :)
so ya it would be awsome.

The cars they make back them were so much cooler being made of metal, much more scale and realistic. If they remade it, it would be ALL plastic
Tamiya bringing back the Hornet, the Grasshopper, and others, its not about changing resale values of old kits. You really think Tamiya cares about that? They are capitilizing on the resurge of RC stuff, and peoples interest in their old kits, its all about money. Everyone is buying Hornets, I would buy the Monster Beetle if it came out again, but the Bruiser is a special vehicle and Tamiya knows it may sell poorly like it did in the 80's. I doubt Tamiya has the old tooling for making the pot metal parts, and I doubt its anymore economic to make these parts again.
The Tamiya kits I would buy if re-released;
Monster Beetle
Avante (the original) (same issue as the Bruiser with metal)
Astute

Tamiya did bring back the Bruiser years ago for pretty much the same reasons that you want it to come back. There were a lot of people that were talking a good game about how they would definitely buy it if it were re-released. Well, when Tamiya finally did produce them under the Mountaineer name, all the blow-hards that were so hot to buy one basically bailed when it came time to put up the cash. If my memory serves me, the price of the Mountaineer was in the middle to high 500s, and they sat on hobby shop shelves for many years collecting dust until they finally sold out. They bring good money on ebay now, but I would be VERY surprised if Tamiya brought back a Bruiser-type truck again after what happened last time.

that was the problem the price was too high,i bought the mountaineer at i think it was 449.95 minus shipping and i had fun with it until i broke a dogend on the front axel and it sat until i could find replacement parts but nobody carried any parts unless you could find a place that could make it from scratch but they want too much an hour for that i should know i worked in the factory making car parts, and im still looking for these prats but i guess my love my hobbie is a bit expensive but i still would like to see this truck brought back or simular.

thats funny u say that because i have one of those as well but not much can be crossed over to the mountaineer becaus some parts are pretty much smaller and alot easier to break.
but on the other hand the trans is knid of a good fit (with modifications) :D
