You shouldn't post another thread for a r/c with an existing thread.. post this in the XXX-NT Forum, there's a wealth of knowledge there and there's no need to separate the two.

the motor's Pretty good for me so far... just be easy on her first 10 or so tanks.. my bro ran his kinda hard.. and he's fly wheel spins freely without any hesitation..

I have been thru 7 tanks and ran it harder than breakin for the first time, no problems, great acceleration and definitely need to loosen up the slipper clutch. The low gearing makes it extremely quick and the front end seems a little lighter than the rc10 but thats with the slipper tight. The motor seems just fine to me no problems:D

I agree white, the xxx-nt and the sport version are two different vehicles sharing the same parts, similiar to the stampede and the rustler. Just more like twins. As for any parts just look at the losi xxx site and there is a wealth of info. hope it helps

I'm not sure if the original poster is still looking here or not, but I have a sport version xxx-nt. It has been good to me so far. The stock .15 engine has about 1 gallon of 20% Trininity monster horsepower fuel through it. Using a radar gun, I did get to clock it after break in and the highest reading I got was 37mph, right along side a RC10GT with a OS CZ-Z .12. The stock.15 isn't the fastest engine on the planet, it's actually no faster then the CZ-Z, but it is by no means a POS. It idles great, and is very easy to work with and tune.

As for "will it break" If you crash it, yes ofcourse it will break! So far, through my 1 gal of fuel I have only had a couple of crashes, and only 1 broken part. I hit a parking block fairly hard one night driving under parking lot lighting, and cracked the mount points on the front right side swing arm. I bought new swing arms for 8 dollars and had it back out the next day.

Overall it's been a very reliable and easy to tune package.

The only things I've observed that I didn't like was that the optional 20 tooth clutch bell does not fit and the engine runs extremely hot and needs to be very rich to safely run if it's over 80 degrees outside.

Hi Guys,

Great forum!!

I'm in the process of building an Adam Drake edition with my son. We purchased the kit and the radio but haven't yet decided on an engine. We are both new to Nitro and decided on the Drake edition for it's TOUGH parts and our learning curve behind the wheel!!
I would appreciate any recomendations as far as engines. Our goal is to first hone our driving skills THEN possibly race. I've been told that a pull start motor in this truck would be a sin, we already have a starter box given to us by a friend!!
Lastly, we've been offered a rear exhaust .12 motor at a good price, from what I've been told it may be a bit much for learning :( What is involved with adapting the exhaust?? Can we use the Drake exhaust??

Thanks

Neil

You would have to get a new header but the pipe will work.
I just built the same kit and used OS CV-R .12 Lots of power and the holds a tune real well.
There is an XXXNT thread that may be better for you.

Have fun.

I'm saving for the xxx-nt sport and i can't wait to get one. Are .15 engines race legal? And are they stronger then .12?

purplerides
07-22-2002, 07:32 AM
figit- no .15 aren't legal for racing , however most tracks will let RTR's run there original motor , as long as it's not a sactioned race event you shouldn't run into problems , at my track and most tracks i know of you can run your RTR motor and rebuild it or replace it with the same motor but you can't drop a race bred .15 motor in it , almost all of the .12's esp. the race breed high hp ones will outrun a .15 RTR motor.

btw there is a XXXNT forum on here that has 125 pages plus of info , not that espect you read 125 pages...LOL ,but you'll get a more timely response to any of your q's

Hi,
I am thinking about maybe getting one of these kits [xxx-nt sport rtr]. How durable is it like a know if you run into a wall it will break but jumping wise and racing wise. How reliable is the engine and is it easy to tune

Cheers

For the peolpe asking about the durabilty, it is very durable. I have been jumping it 20ft and landing on one wheel and flipping it about 5 times after that. I am usaully expecting it to break but it doesnt.

I just took my LOSI XXX-NT out for a bashing run to test my new 6061-T6 front skid plates. They are top notch and work great. Much better than the stock skid !

if you ask me, the stock engine in this thing sucks. couldnt get it to run past 1/2 a tank. after a quart of break in fuel and box of band-aids (for the blisters from the pull start) i called up the local neighborhood dumba$$ and bought a 3 year old fantom fr12 from him for 20 bucks. never had a problem since, expt for that one time i drove it into a puddle that i couldnt see and it was 4 inches deep.....

the car is very strong, can withstand anything u put at it, if you stress a part of the car rather than a single part, like an A arm or kickplate, your fine. otherwise, make sure theres a hobbyshop nearby :-D

Maybe you didnt tune it or break it in right, because mine worked great idled for as long as i ever needed and wasnt to bad in the speed department either.
