I am not ready for reworking the whole axle setup yet. The other night I was able to tackle a pile of 2x4s with the 18v USA1. I have been powering it with a fan switch from Ace hardware hooked to the throttle servo. ON/Off is a hell of a way to test the drivline. The stock speed control melted along time ago.

Next thing you know I'm only front wheel drive. He he. I am in need of very heavy duty solutions for this project. However I don't want to drain my saving accounts in the process.

I'm thinking of making my own out of aluminum unless there are some decent alternatives out there.

Before this project gets real expensive I'll probably get a emaxx.

Thanks,
Andy in WI

I'm surprised the stock dogbones lasted that long running that kind of power through them. There are not too many options for upgrades. Sassy Chassis had some, not sure what they have any more. Visit the usa-1 electric forum at http://pub11.ezboard.com/frcmtnetworkmessageboardmtkyoshousa1electric
There are some pretty trick trucks there and they are always willing to help with ideas.

Thorp use to make gears, full swing shafts and axles.

I make axles for the USA-1, and I designed and made the original Sassy outdrive kit. My new axles are made of a very hard steel alloy, and are 6mm in diameter! Huge! This is what they look like next to regular Sassy axles.

These axles will not break or bend, and require 6X10 knuckle bearings. You can get the splined outdrives from Sassy. rlosborn@earthlink.net Subject "Want to buy Spined outdrives ASAP!" if you put that in your subject they should respond. Check out the A-1 board. http://pub11.ezboard.com/frcmtnetworkmessageboardmtkyoshousa1electric

Reumster, those are beefy! How much are you selling those for and what is included? I read about you using Jugg u-joints. Also do you know how much Sassy sells the out drive splined ends for? Just thought I would ask if you knew. Also I see that you use maxx bell cranks for your steering. How do you like them?
