414M because it's a limited edition,

the 414M is slightly more adjustable, you can change the wheel base, other than that they are amost identicle

414m will be cheaper than a Ta04 hopped up to its level.

a 414M is a lot cheaper than a fully hopped TA04

on the behalf of those who own a 414m (including me who own a 414m)

i would like to say 414m's is the best ever made t.c. by tamiya.. if you were to buy 04 and hop it up - you might as well get a 414m

simply because you'll be spending at least be forking out enough money to buy another 04.. just to hop it up (carbon shock towers; carbon shock arms; center one way; front one way; graphite chassis etc. etc. the list goes on)

go for a 04R (under $230) - if you want to race competitively (its quite good out of the box; it doesn't have teh one way (front and center)...

but if you really want something competitive 414m (about $350 + US) - it has everything - except for the aluminum diff pulley, and the center pulleys upgrades.. but its just for "eye candy & durabiltiy".. one hold back bout hte 414m - is that you can't race it the Tamiya TCS's... btw one flaw bout the 414m - the lower deck chassis has to be filed to remove a small portion of the chassis part that holds the battery holder (tamiya made the chassis standard to accept stick/sports pack and the "extra" is to house the battery holders)

** so it just really comes to what you want - be able to race in Tamiya TCS and regular track racing- TA04R...

** regular track and/or competitive racing 414m :D

hope that helped

Do you know why? That's kind of stupid ..

The 414m is not TCS legal because it is only available from Tamiya and is therefore considered hard to get. The m2 is supposed, from what I have seen, to be available everywhere. Since the m2 is pretty much the m, it would be the same car.

This should end this thread...

Link to Ta04r/414m discussion (http://pub41.ezboard.com/frcchampracewayfrm6.showMessage?topicID=49.topic)

They talk about all the same issues as here but, with more info dealing with the 414m being able to participate in the TCS.
