well you didn't define what "too much is"
you can get a Tamiya Terra Crusher for under $400. It is brand new (comes out on 4/7) and looks to be a really hot truck, similar to the T-Maxx, but better ;)

Depends how much you want to spend .. Look at the Tamiya TXT-1. It's about $380 bucks, and it's different.

Nitro or electric. If nitro get the kyosho Mega Force. i love mine and i havent had to touch the truck once sinnce the first day i got it which was like 2 months ago. this truck is very reliable and very durable. the motor never needs to be tuned either its like an electric start and run. If you want an Electric Monster truck TXT-1 or a Clod.

The MegaForce is a great basher truck... I just wish that RPM made stuff for it. I beat on mine big time (constantly jumping 4+ feet in the air). So far, my son has broken the front bulkhead (where the bumper attaches... it's a crappy design IMO). I've lost the front dogbone, bent the left front dogbone (I straightened it out). And so far the truck is still trucking along. And yes, the engine may not be a rip snort'n enigne... but it's meant for the newbie, or someone who wants a reliable truck. The truck idles and stays running for ever!
I think I may upgrade to the Terra Crusher or wait and see what else comes out... and end up giving the Megaforce to my son).
