Ok guys here's my idea. A Pirate GTP (kinda tame right:D )
Ingredients:
Ofna Monster Pirate Rolling chassis (i have a spare kit here)
Two speed tranny
some nice ofna GTP tires/rims
GTP body
Some kind of engine......maybe a collari super comp:D
shin pads
miscelaneous bodymounting parts
What do you think??
Any suggestions on the build up or parts to use?

GOT FUEL?
the wilcat eliminator %20 is for all my vehicles
the 15% helimix was a mistake i made in buying for my TTR EK4
the trinity is from last year but ill use it in the tmaxx since that truck will run on coca cola
and the %30 cool power is for the .70 in the EK4

just my thoughts but wouldnt the gearing in the pirate chassis limit your speed? I would think with that gearing it would be vary quick but not very fast. might be wrong.
PITSTAIN_RC
04-03-2002, 09:40 PM
with the stock 52/56 spurs and the 11/15 clutchbell it will be VERY quick but your right on the top end it will suffer a bit.
That's why i am going to put on the 48/52 spurs and 12/16 clutchbell, this should get things moving for plenty of speed, and if i were to obsess over the gearing i might try to find a differential pinion gear thats a tooth or two bigger than stock......but im sure it'll scream like it is
Thanks for the input its appreciated:)
BTW you didnt mention about the missing bumper to keep the nose of the viper from digging in like a plow when i get up to speed........just thought of it

thanks im glad you like it
by the way i just found a set of 15/19 tooth clutchbell gears THIS WILL MAKE IT FLY!!
the gear ratio will work out just right with this setup
ill have vids up next weekend hopefully

I noticed that before the convertion of your MP you had those new OFNA tires and rims on. I'm was thinking of trying those out. My question is can you tell the dimension of the tires (i.e. Diameter and width)? Also is there a different offset with the new rims?
Oh by the way nice job on the project MP.
PITSTAIN_RC
04-05-2002, 09:38 AM
the new tire and rim combo is exactly the same dimensions as most t-maxx tires, BUT the offset is actually a bit farther out than the stock MP rim / tire setup (which is already offset very far. But since these tires are only t-maxx size it still handles better than stock
i have two more sets of the Mt3 wheels one set of which has panther plow boys mounted up and the third set is waiting for some bow ties or mulchers.
by the way i didnt use the NEW mp for the GTP conversion, the new one had the 8mm axles and a few other touches, so i converted the old one, i am currently building up the new one with graphite top front and center plates as well as graphite servo plate and Ofna CNC front bulkhead and rc concepts rear bulkhead plus ofna cnc front knuckles and dominator front shocktower with long threaded hard coated 9.5 pro shocks on all four corners.

thanks for the Info. the setup that you are building sounds exciting. Maybe when I get some extra money I'll start putting on the cnc components. I already broke the from grearbox mounts and the front suspension arm. well actually the front arm broke because I miss calculated a jump and landed on a rock basically full speed plus I snapped the shock post. I broke the gear box mount (front) just by driving it. I found a little nifty solution to prevent that from happening again. It just took a special graphit composite epoxy that I molded around the top and bottom of the gear box mounts. Looks great Works great.
Anyway I think that I'm going to get those tires I thing that since they are smaller the rotational mass is lot less which will help me in acceleration and handling.
thanks again

Nice Paintjob! I was wondering if the MP had the same wheelbase as the GTP. The MP diffs are 10/39 the GTP diffs are 14/44, so you might find the 15/19 gears might be too low still. Ofna does offer 16/20 & 17/21 gear sets
You will need the 35242 clutchbell to use these gears since the gears screw on seperately, unlike the MP clutchbell.
16T #35240
17T # 35241
19T # 35254
21T # 35256

Nice job! But I think I like the "before" better. Jmo.

im guessing it will top 60 with a perfectly tuned engine and a better pipe than that..... may be 70, and with that pack of Ds on it, 100???!!!

Unregistered, i found those part numbers also and called ofna but they said they dont carry them. :(
also i as out yesterday, and was testing out the 2 speed with its stock gears, well my OLD BEAT UP picco pullstart 21 tore second gear a new A**hole, that blue disc that used to be second gear is a smooth as the wheel in my starter box now. :(
i also mouted the GTP bumper and foam on the front, it wasnt too hard, but ill post some pics up tonight.
thanks for the input guys

Hey Pitstain if your not using those MT3 rims for your MP anymore if you want to selll them i might be interested in buying them. Thats if you dont need them anymore. LMK Thanx

Unregistered.....no can do on the 17t 21t gears, ofna just dont bring them into the country.......
i went out with new gears tonight and i think with the 52/56 spurs and the 12/16 clutchbell, i was definitly blowing past 40 maybe 45. and burning out glowplugs in the process (i was testing megatech high velocity fuel since it has 25% nitro for a little more boost)
with the 48/52 and 15/19 gear combo i should whup 60mph easy
By the way this is with a Ofna / Picco "ECONO" 3 port pullstart .21 that has been almost beaten to death as it is.
god save anyones ankles if i were to put my Collari supercomp from my 9.5 into this thing!!
also DaMaXXer i am putting those MT3's to good use on my new Monster pirate, it is waiting for ofna front alloy bulks front knuckles and dominator front shock tower but i have aquired the engine, the SH 2000XB that they just reviewed in NITRO.
PICS :)

Hey pitstain,
Is there anyway you could do me a favor and measure out the Ofna universals for me? These TQ uni's arent going to hold up to my new O.S, I can just tell. Your MP uses 6mm Axles correct?
P.S. If you could lay the universal next to a ruler and take a pic that would be perfect.
Thanks.

For the money you amy want to buy the OFNA gtp or whatever it is that is a 21 RTR car that comes as a CLK, or Viper and just add a 2 speed. You could sell the parts you have or some of the RTR stuff and buy a 2 speed to go with it. The local LHS sold one this way and it was radar (police) confirmed at 74 MPH.
Pretty much as sick as you ever want to be.
Just an idea.
Plus when you are done just stick some MT3 wheels and a 1 speed spur and you got a Pirate.

ill try to take the pic and post it tonight but the monster pirate uses 8mm axles, i have unis for my zircon (thunder quake) that are from a monster blazer that are 6mm and fit the stock duratrax half shafts the universial joint on these is much stronger
also i will need to radar this pirate gtp but when i am done with the gearing im pretty sure it will have a very impressive top speed

Thanks for the info Pitstain. Is there anyway you can tell me the part number so I can order a set of 4 from Ace? (Ofna Unis)
I'd hate to order the wrong parts and have to send them back.
PITSTAIN_RC

they are the universial joints for the blazer sst and monster blazer
i think the part # is 15100 for a pair about $28 at www.ace-hobbies.com
they are much stronger than the stock ones you can see the size of the crosspins in the joint

hey pit. could you post a list of parts used to build it? I am wanting to build something like that to tearup the TMAXX's at my local track.
