I have an idea to improve the profile part of the BB. I think we should have a spot to post a pic of our R/Cs and a pic of ourselves. It would make the profiles a bit better in my opinion. Just a thought that I would like you guys to think about.

BTW, why do you have signatures disabled also?

Well personally I'd rather not see anything added that slows down the BB.. I prefer the cleanness of not having a million small images for each person anyway. And I believe sigs are disabled because generally they're used to link to a web site or something similar, and that's against forum rules.

No Nutter, if it was against forum rule to post a URL then they would turn off vB code and HTML. Weather it be in the Signature or Body of the post.

Of course that still doesnt stop ppl from posting web addy's anyway, other than the threat of Banning for doing so.

As for Avatar Pictures, like I said it can be limited to Icon sized pictures. It doesn't present a performance issue. Then again if your browsing these boards on a 14.4k Modem then you may want to re-evaluate your next PC upgrade purchase to include a 56k modem.

Actually, what I am mostly concerned with is the extra bandwidth.. if there's a thread with 40 posts, each with a 10k image, that's an extra 400k per thread I read. Many peoples ISP's have pretty horrible bandwidth caps, especially here in Australia - on my ADSL I've got a 300mb/month limit. :( Of course I go waaaay over that.. and mostly cos of this BB already, hehe :p

I think it would be cool, but would slow it down. RCMT the guys can have one image that appears on the sidebar of the person's post, I like that idea.

and y do they do that There's a usage metre on the ISP's web site. They do it because here in Australia the ISP's have to pay for their bandwidth at pretty high rates (12-19c/meg).

I vote no. Avatars and pictures do nothing to enhance the board or peoples communication, they simply clutter it up and give it an uneven look. As for the bandwidth issues, this board has problems running just the way it is and adding pics or avatars would just stress it even more until they can pony up the dough and run the board on something other then a 286. Personally (and I don't mean to be rude), but I don't care what cars you have or what you look like or what your favorite comic is in your avatar. If I wanted that info, I'd go look in threads that have that info and there are plenty of them in the other forums. A wiggling picture of your XXX-T or Homer Simpson does nothing to add to the content of your posts, only words do.
