Well I was in the middle of finishing a new body today and then my CH compressor started to get real loud! It was like that for a while and then it was quiet again but the pressure would not build. I took it apart to see if it was anything obvious but I didn't see anything. Any idea's, or does anyone have this compressor and had the same problem? It is the quiet air FP2003 2 gallon oiless compressor from walmart!

hey man... I hate to be the bear of bad news.. but you may have messed it up by taking it apart. A lot of these new generations of compressors are not ment to be takin apart by the consumer.

Are you sure that you had the pressure regulator turned up high enough? If not.. it will not build pressure.

Also.. make sure that you have a moisture trap on it if you are painting bodies.

I own the same compressor. I thought I had a problem once when the pressure would not build. I read in the manual that there is an automatic shutoff. If the compressor motor gets too hot it will shutoff, but the fan keeps going. My best guess is that you had a problem with the fan, causing the loud noise, and the compressor to stop building pressure. Just a guess.

Well I am sure that I didn't hurt anything taking it apart and I am sure that it isn't the auto shutoff because the compressor runs. I was looking at it a while ago and it is building pressure but it is taking 20 minuted to gain 5psi. It must be a the pump seal or something like that because the motor is good and the tank isn't leaking at all. I think i will email CH and see what they think it may be. My friend has the same compressor and he already is on his third one. They all had different problems though. Ohh well i guess you get what you pay for!!

if you still have it apart, I would check the intake and exaust valves raydee. its a long shot, but one of them may have gotten something stuck in it, or got bent and wont close all the way

Well I called CH and told them my problem and the lady on the phone asked what model it was and I told her it was the FP2003 and she said Ohh like she new about the compressor problems. When I asked what needed to be replaced she told me the whole pump! What a POS! I decided to take it apart again since it is trash now anyways and I can see where the small piston actually hit the cylinder wall and scraped the crap out of it. It now builds to 50PSI and never builds anymore pressure but it will run forever. Wally world has a 6 gallon compressor on sale for $149 so I might just take a trip there Monday.
