View Full Version : Kyosho Superten GP's and FW-04
That's a beauty; I had also a hopped up 4-stroke FW04 years ago. Pretty similar to yours but all Kyosho, your's a bit more sleek :D But I had the gold racing chassis, too haha.. jk
Concerned about the air filter but very cool for a show
For driving, adjust some toe-in for the rear using the pillow-balls. A the same time some negative camber could be good for both ends to improve cornering. Also limit the up travel (droop)

Hi Pleaseletmeon.....
The manufacturer is Cross Racing of Japan. They made many awsome superten options.

Hi Mika
Great looking car.......
I never knew the O.S. 40 four stroke came without the pull start or did you take the pull start off yourself? It is a great looking car either way.
Looks like your car gets its fair share of track time as well ;)
Do you have any other cars?
Chris.
Hi Chris
they had both models, this one is original without pullstarter. You can still convert, I did the conversion to my .26 when I had the Super. Pullstarter robs some power as you propably know. 777 is currently my only K car, my son loves to drive it on track since it's so easy to drive and fast, too. My other cars currently are CEN Matrix Pro and HPI Proceed (which I drive rarely, see pics in the Proceed topic).
I actually had two Supers, both had 4-stroke but also several other engines. See some pics earlier in this thread. It was a fast car. Also had HPI Super which was pretty nice too in a way. But then I got into offroading more.

This is my Kyosho superten FW-03 with a Saito four stroke. I never did finish this car and I have since removed the Saito engine from the car for the time being, but I do intend too one day complete this car. In order to complete this car I would need to mount the carb without the down draft tube. It is on my list of things to complete one day ( there are many! ). Anyway the engine is absolutely awsome and in my opinion looks much better than the O.S. engine. Saito did make a car version of their four stroke but I have yet to be able to find one. This car has since received an O.S. four stroke which I will post at a later date. The following options can be seen on this car;
Kyosho carbon upper deck
Serpent gas tank
Tamiya TRF shocks
HPI grey springs
Cross racing four stroke conversion kit
Form 2 Speed
Kyosho cooling fan
O.S. four stroke exhaust
Five stars aluminum steering for FW-04 converted to fit FW-03
GPM F / R Aluminum bulk heads
Kyosho ATC rear suspension set
Kyosho carbon tower shock braces
Form center aluminum gear mount
Form light weight aluminum center shaft
I beleive that is everything on this car. The car looks great and when I complete it will look even better.

That is an extremely clean FW03 and FW04!! I wished my FW04 had black plastic. More info on the Saito 4 stroke? Hopefully its completed soon. I'm very interested to see how the Saito engine runs.
Oh man, that's a beauty!!!
Yes, the purple head was Novarossi, and fast as he*l
My friend tried Saito 4S if his LandMax but it overheated being an aeroplane engine. I don't think it run very well, and he sold it quite soon after. Nice thing about O.S. is that it uses regular car fuel and does not overheat too much. I don't know aeroplane 4S engines but I guess there's some difference, no?

Hi Dan.....
Yes I was like you. My first FW-04 was the brown plastic version and as soon as they released the grey plastic version I purchased all the grey parts and converted over. The Saito can be used only with the Cross conversion or with the original FW-03 4 stroke conversion ( Cross made it for Kyosho ) because the engine has to be placed much further back on the chassis due to the long crankshaft of the airplane version. If you look at the pics closley you can see the large engine mounts required to move the engine back as well as the large distance between clutch bell and the end of the engine crankcase. When O.S. released the car version of the 4 stroke it had a more standard car like crankshaft that made conversion a little easier. Saito also made a car version with a black crankcase like O.S. but this engine is very rare and have yet to locate one. One day when I complete it, I will take more pics and post them.
You are correct Mika. The Saito engine is the airplane version and not made for a car but I think with the ball bearing supported cooling fan on the superten it should be fine. The landmax has a simple cooling fan that is not bearing supported and does not have a positive drive pulley system like SUP10's. I won't really be able to tell you if it runs too hot because I don't actually run any of my cars. I just build and display them.
Hope to post another car tonight.
Chris.
Well - You have done absolutely amazing job in that! Great pics too!

Hi Guys
I will post another car here shortly. I have a question I need some help with, I am sure this question has been covered before in this forum but I don't know if I have the time to try and find it. Anyway if anyone could help it would be much appreciated. I have the proper engine mount and fly wheel to mount a .15 size motor with an SG shaft. I also have the correct exhaust manifold. What other parts do i need to complete this tasK? I have not tried to install it yet, but I do need a special clutch or clutch parts?
Thanks,
Chris.

I love that body and great thinking to put it on the F-Ten. Do the wheel wells match up perfectly or did you have to cut them slightly shorter? I didn't even relaize that the F-Ten was a 300mm wheelbase. Anyway car looks super!

I'm pretty sure thats the original body for the F-10 (Looks GOOD Dan) Pretty sure there was 4 or 5 bodies available. 3 for the nitro version, 1 for the electric version and 2 they both shared.
Dan H
09-19-2006, 06:03 PM
Thanks guys! Its the HPI SNRS4 body. :) The wheelbase is slightly off. The F-Ten's wheelbase is something close to 310mm so I had to extend the wheelbase. Also the metallic blue is more darker but when I take pics with flash, it comes out light blue. doh
I have the original Kyosho GT-1 body still unpainted though. It looks MUCH more realistic than the HPI. If I paint it, it will probably be red.

Sorry Wayne, I havent looked at this thread. The car is not complete. Its missing the engine and flywheel (only reason I bought the car was for the cylinder head, buying the car was the only way to get it.) It will need an engine, flywheel and mounts. Everything else is there. Problem I have is shipping, (its a BIG box) no idea what it would cost. PM me an offer and we will work something out.

Removed the OS .15 from the car, and removed the single speed. Awaiting a good cleaning, the 2 speed to go back in, viscous coupler in the rear, and possibly putting back in the stock motor. Had a change of plans, parts are so hard to come buy, don't want it to be a rocket anymore. rather play it safe with this one.

That is a sweet car - especially if you like to tune and experiment. i just moved to the boonies, and good pavement is a ways away now, so focus is on a little more off road toys at this point.
Before i moved i tried to convert my HPI MTSS into a 300 mm sedan by adding super nitro rally suspension arms, and nitro 3 suspension parts and gearing, and SGP wheels. Would have been a sister car (in spirit and layout) to the FW and SGP, but with much easier to find parts. Came together great, but was unable to locate front dogbones that were quite the right length... now that i am here, turning it back into a truck till i find the dogbones. I will make another attempt at the car though when i tire of the truck. Love the size of these cars, so much more stable.

I don't think they ever sold them here. I got mine from Germany (EXPENSIVE), but I wanted the car. The 05 wheels are the same as the 04. I haven't been following it, so I'm not sure about the 06.
The wheels would have helped the sales of that car. You did a nice job on yours, but the wheels just don't fit.

Na, its at a LHS here (might have told you this before  ). It was painted up to look like the one on the box (can't remember if he put the stickers on or not). Its just a shelf queen, he had the old OFNA too. Years ago I wanted to buy the engine out of it, but he wouldn't sell.
I really can't say, because other parts came with it. Its the shipping that kills you. I think one order was around $40 but with shipping was $85. I still have one of the boxes and the DHL bill on it says $65. Besides the latest parts that came out, wheels and tires went for big money (everybody needs wheels and tires).

The Super Ten is discontinued and so are the bodies. You can try calling hobby shops around the country who may have one in the basement somewhere. I have one but its got kindof a funky paint job. I bought a Super Ten off Ebay a few years ago and this body came with. Some HPI Super RS4 bodies will fit a Super Ten... I think the Porsche and the BMW bodies will.
THe real issue with HPI bodies is the length of the wheel base which is a little longer on the Super Ten chassis.
Hope that helps.
HPI has (or had) 280mm bodies that are equal wheel base to FW04

I just put my FW04 McLaren with all it's goodies out on Ebay for sale - hate to let it go, it's a freaking amazing car, but finances dictate that i remove some of my collection (when i got up to 40 cars, the wife says some gotta go!) - chassis is almost perfect, body is decent - i cut a few too many cooling holes in it, but overall it still looks pretty good! just throwing it out there - like to see it go to a good home.
I still have most of my SPG10 - need only 1 rear hub to put it back to running condition - that one's not going anywhere - my first gas car, and very near and dear to my heart. :)

Hi Guys
I have been away for a while but I have recently landed some very nice Superten parts including the often talked about but rarely seen Form Racing 3 speed conversion. It is a complete conversion kit including the clutch. I don't have it in my hands yet ( its on the way ) but as soon as I do I will be posting a car with it shortly there after. I plan on using my Superten Comp II car because it will give me that super clean look with the Futuba RD block installed. I have been chasing one of these forever and have finally landed one.
I also have scored some very nice Superten bodies very cheap. I recently aquired the following Kyosho bodies, a Mclaren Gulf GTR, STP Taisan Porsche GT2, Kenwood NSX and Porsche GT1 as well for about $50 each all NIB. So I was happy about that.
I must admit, I am really excited about that 3 speed!!
I am going to post my pride and joy and the nicest Superten I own in my next message.

This Superten FW04 has almost every option I could get my hands on. The only thing stock on the kit is the gearboxes and suspension arms. Everything else has been switched out. It has parts from Kyosho, Tamiya, Cross, Racey, Tetra, GPM, Serpent, OS, Five Stars and Saito. The body is the SOK Mclaren which I painted in Mclaren Gulf GTR colors with the matching decals. The decals are from the pureten size car but still managed to give me the look I was looking for. The car is new and never started. I used a Saito fuel filter on the side of the engine which has a clear glass bulb on it, its actually made for planes but I thought it looked to cool to pass up.

Hey guys.... Form 3 speed has arrived and have just begun putting it together for an FW03 Super Ten. I will not be able to use the Comp II kit with the Futuba RD block because I have to remove some of the carbon upper deck to clear the center gears and this will directly interfere with the block itself, so I will use a standard carbon upper deck. The clutch bell is massive and I originally tried to fit the clutch on the surpass version of the OS 26 but the bell didn't clear the flywheel so I will use the standard OS 26 engine. I will post pictures after the chassis is done. Eventually I will top this car a Kyosho Porsche 911 GT1 body.

Here are the first picks of the Form Racing 3 Speed on my FW03. The car has many options on it but the base for the car is the 3 speed conversion. My conversion came with the clutch bell, Chassis plate, the 3 center gears including cams, the shortened center shaft and the pilot shaft for the O.S. engine. I was dissapointed that the conversion didn't come with the clutch shoes or flywheel. Anyway I hope to finish the car soon.

Also, another newbie question:
There's an optional fw04 item with item code: FZW26

Must be something in the translation, its a viscous coup"ling". :D I have one of these, and yes it is basically a slipper. Its a fluid coupling, there are a stack of impellers inside that the one shaft goes through. The other shaft is connected to the outer housing. Never opened it up, but whatever oil/grease is in it must be pretty thick. Its very hard to turn.

Does anyone know what parts are included in the Kyosho Four-stroke Fitting Kit (FZW30)?
I am trying to replace the stock engine with an OS FS26C (I don't have it yet) and also get the 2-speed transi. I am dying to know what upgrades I need to make everything work.
Here are the parts I think I will need
Engine Mount
Cooling Fan Set for Superten (No.39641)
2 speed tansi for FW04 (FZW56)
Vespel Clutch Shoe (No.39672)
OS FS26C Version 2
The exhaust set for the engine
Engine starter box
Could anyone tell me what else I need (or point out if the parts will not work with the engine). I don't have any experience with a four stroke engine and the starter box before, could you please be a little more precise :)
Thanks!!

Included in FZW30 is the clutch, flywheel, engine mount and exhaust manifold for the OS FS26-C. Pretty much everything you need to convert the car. It does not include pipe. You can use either version of the OS FS26C, you do not need version II. The clutch shoes are included in the conversion kit. The fan is recommended but is is not necessary to convert your car. Standard engine starter box will work or you can get the FS26C-X pull start version. This is the little bit of info I can offer, hope this helps.

Thank you so much Chris!
Am I able to mount the Version 2 of the engine to FW04? I don't think I can't get version 1 anymore. I am still searching for the necessary parts for conversion (since I couldn't find FZW30 anywhere) and I am planning to use the latest version of FS26C.
Just a real noobie question: Can you fit O.S FS40SC on FW04 :D (I am greedy, I know). Please correct me if I'm wrong.
filow_bedow
08-21-2007, 11:13 AM
Absolutely you can mount version II in your fw04, the version II is almost indentical to the version I.
You need to get the engine mount and a flywheel / pilot shaft. To be honest those are the difficult parts about making the conversion. Most clutch bells / gears and exhaust manifold are readily available. The flywheel and pilot shaft are not.
The FS40SC would need lots of work to fit because the engine is wider and longer . Also the clutch that comes with the land max conversion is also larger and I am not even sure the gears are of the same pitch as the fw04. Probably not impossible, but not easy either.

Just one more question:
Can I use the fly-wheel and the pilot shaft the comes with the 2-speed transi? (I assume they are included in FZW56) My question is whether they will work on the 4stroke engine or not.
By the way, Chris, any chance you will have a FS26C Version II in your fancy ebay listing? Your listing rock!!!

Oh ok. I don't have pics on me so I just wanted to make sure.
Long ago, when FW04 parts were widely available, there were two types of universals.
The shiny nickel plated ones were nonrebuildable. They were the cheaper ones.
Then there were gray dull (hardened coated) universals (rebuildable MIP CVD type), which is also what I have on my FW04.

That's right, 695014 is the grey universals.
Based on your information, it sounds to me the grey ones are more durable than the shinning ones.
However, I don't really understand the importance of being "rebuildable". Would you mind explain that a little bit more? For my piece of mind, I couldn't figure out how it is significant.
Thanks for keeping the forum alive.

After going through some much earlier threads I have come to a realization that adapting FS26C to FW04 requires much more parts than I previously thought.
Now I understand that in order for the 4-stroke to working properly, it is mandatory to assemble special (stronger and heavier) pilot shaft and flywheel, otherwise the cluntch bell will be spinning unevenly due to the high torque of the engine. Just as filow_bedow was suggesting.
Now my concern is what pilot shaft and flywheel should I use? I am planning to mount FS26C with the 2 speed. It's most unfortunate that Kyosho discontinued the 4st conversion kit and other essential parts.
Any piece of advice will be greatly appreciated.
Dan H
08-30-2007, 02:23 PM
If I'm not mistaken, the shiny nickel plated universals should resemble this type of universals.
http://www.hobbiesr.com/images/hpi.jpg/hpi-527.jpg/hpia514.jpg
Pretty much, once they are damaged (like breaking the axle or dogbone part), they become paperweight.
http://www.rcmallracing.com/RCparts/Bling%20Racing/SAVY4014.JPG
This is an example of a rebuildable (MIP CVD type) universals. You can notice the difference in the joints. If you break an axle or dogbone, you can just buy whichever part you broke and rebuild the other half, saving you a little money.
However, this may all be proven useless if you can't get spare dogbones/axles with the rebuildable universals because FW04 parts are getting harder to find. If you can't get spares, then I think the only advantage the more expensive universals have over the cheaper ones is durability.

Wow, that was such a comprehensive explaination. Thank you so much sir!
I think it is best for me to get the cheaper ones since the availability of the parts is just scrace. Besides, when handled properly, I doubt these things will break easily. Also they do look much cooler than the grey ones :O I just love shiny stuffs lol.

LOL,
They are the factory Kyosho parts! (guess I cut to much off) With a lot of high end cars, Kyosho used to give you a few page manual with "ALL" the parts for "that" car.
I got this one with a Super10 Comp III.
I would imagine Cross and Kawahra had some trick stuff back then. But that was back years before I had a computer...... that stuff was non-existent here.
Somewhere, I have the 4 page manual for the FourII. When you open it up it has the exploded view, with all the part numbers. And on the back listed all the parts and hop-ups.

Parts for the Super10 FourII.
Hi Guys
Sorry I have been away for a while. it seems everytime I regularly check this forum there is no action and then when I leave it for a little while things are going full throttle here.
Anyways I get asked lots of questions about four strokes and four stroke conversions. Tonight when I get home I am going to take some pics of my cars and try and show the difference between the FS26S conversion and the FS26S-C conversion. You can not interchange the fly wheel and engine mounts from both of these conversions, they are engine specific. The parts shown in the quote above are from Form Racing and are original four stroke conversion parts for the FS26S engine. Most of the parts shown can be used on either engine, parts such as the pinions, clutch bell, exhaust manifold, etc. can be used with either. The fly wheel and engine mounts can not be used on either. I will try and take some pics to help explain. I would hate for someone to aquire a flywheel thinking they have completed their conversion to find out it doesn't fit.

09-07-2007, 12:37 PM
Sup Chris, nice to have you back to the forum
I think you can get the CVD from www.shopkyosho.com, just key in the part number and you should be able to see it. They don't have a picture for them tho.. You can order them from other places as well, ever tried this web site (http://www.goldstarstockists.com/tamiyaparts/tpx/kyosho.htm)? I usually order my stuffs from them.
I have done a little bit research about 4 stroke conversion and I came to the admission that without the conversion kit there is no way I could get a FS26SC working properly on FW04, and this really sucks. However I am still looking forward to seeing your pictures (by the way, I just realized I emailed you before regarding your fancy supertens lol, sorry buddy, I got terrible memories, they are really cool supertens!! Especially your 3speed FW03).
Just wondering if you have any access to FZW30, FZW 31, FZW35 OR FZW36? or any of the 4st conversion kit from Cross racing. These parts are too scrace to find in north america.
Thanks for reply man! Have fun!

This photo shows an OS FS26S air plane engine converted to a superten. This was the orginal Kyosho four stroke conversions before OS made a car version. You can see the large engine mounts which move the engine further back on the chassis because the FS26S has a very long crankshaft. You can also see the flywheel has a large addition of steel on the back of it, once again to push the clutch forward. Also used on these conversions was a small disc to roatate and mount the carb at the right angle. You can NOT use this flywheel or these engine mounts with the FS26S-C four stroke engine which is made for cars.
filow_bedow
09-11-2007, 12:24 AM
Also I meant to add that you can tell this is a plane version which is also reffered to as a "surpass" version because this engine has an all silver crankcase.
filow_bedow
09-11-2007, 12:27 AM
This photo is the standard FS26S-C superten which is common to most 4 stroke superten owners. You can see the flywheel looks more conventional like a 2 stroke flywheel and the engine mounts also look like the are from a 2 stroke car. This is because OS made the crank shaft short on these car version engines. Once again the flywheel and engine mounts used on this conversion will not work with the FS26S conversion. However you can use the exact same exhasut manifold on either version.

By the way SerraAvatar... I will probably be posting some complete four stroke conversions for superten on Ebay in a few weeks. The auction will include flywheel, clutch, engine mounts and pilot shafts. You would need to provide a complete exhaust system but manifolds are readily available on Ebay and with 4 strokes, you can use anything as a pipe/exhaust. When I list them I will let you know and hopefully you will also get a four stroke version complete.
Ciao for now.

I'll have to dig through what I have..... but any 2sp parts I have were for the comp III. The only part I think I have for the 04 is the gas tank.
Not sure if this will work but the 4st kit for the FW05 "might" help. I'm sure the mounts will bolt up to both the chassis and the engine. "BUT" the mounts tilt the engine over to the left.... not positive it will work. Next would be the pinions. The pitch is different, so you would need ones for a VoneR/RR (before the evo). You can probably find ones from an 1/8 scale that would work (evolva maybe???) before they changed the pitch.

The body , Nissan skyline GT, I was looking for is not availible anymore. So I used HPIīs Nissan Skyline along with Kyosho and HPI decals. The result came out quite nicely.

From the look of the tires you must have played them heavily, yet they look like as they were just been assembled, you must have taken an industrial load of extra cares to your RC and that is so cool!
I see you have the heatsink engine mounts (Kyo.39648) on the chassis, are they good (it's an expensive compare to other engine mounts)? I would really like to know if they are compaptible with an OS FS26S C engine because I just ordered a pair of the mounts.

I am running the "blue/white" 2 speed on my 4 stroke Fw04 with no issues. There are two version of 2 speeds available for the FW04. The "$150" blue/white one and the cheaper, all black $60-70 one that came equipped with the later special edition FW04's. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is since I have not seen the cheaper 2 speed in person.

They're pretty hard to find. You "might" be able to source one from overseas but I wish you luck. I sold my .15LD a few years back. As really cool as it is, the new engines of today just blow it away. :) I came close to putting an .18CVR in my car but I pulled it out and put back the 4 stroke. Probably one of the fastest smallblocks you can put it in a Superten.

just to let you know I will be listing a conversion set of parts for the OS FS26S-C car engine, the one with the black case. It will be listed under Tamkyo on Ebay. It will include the complete 4 stroke clutch ( flywheel, pilot shaft, clutch shoes, clutch bell, pinions and bearings ) as well as the engine mount. It will not include exhaust manifold or pipe, both of these parts are readily available in Ebay stores. This clutch should fit either FW04 or FW03 but either car must have a high end two speed from cross, form or kyosho. The clutch bell will not work with the budget version 2 speeds.

My OS .18 CVR-X came with the mail today! So I jumped into a mounting session course I allready had the needed parts waiting for the engine. It was a straight forward fit. But when it came the test fit the Mclaren body I stopped a bit.
The sinkhead touches the body and I had a hard ponit to decide if I should cut a round hole in "the very hard to find body" so the head goes free. well enough said, hereīs the picīs. A little bit of Kyosho SuperTen pornografi!

Not much left of the standard Superten car now. When I bought this car back in -96 I didnīt use the body at all. Thatīs why itīs still so shiny and scratchfree.
This car has the 92110 High ratio gear diff and FZW25 Hard diffcase inside the gearboxes. I will not use the cheap 2-speederbox. Still waiting for the heavyduty one.

My only guess was that perhaps their server failed, and they only had an older backup that they would use.

Are these the Parts list you were after?

***, most of the wonderful and interesting post is all gone!!
Well, today I fitted my spare gearcases with Highratio gears, hard difffcase and steel diffgears to my ST w O.S 18 CVR engine just to get mesh them in for a more smooth run. The differ was significant compared to the stock gearing.
Itīs like a 2-3 tooth extra on clutch side and now I can get an ever higher gear ratio more suited for this engine.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d69/manheader/At%20gym/Reardiffcase.jpg
Now I run with a 17/20 clutch gearing witch involves a bit of milling in chassisplate to move the engine assembly a bit further from gearbox. Still thereīs plenty of tourqe to pull a spin at quick starts. (amazing tourqe in this engine!!)
I think the vespel clutch shoes, I made a report about just before the server exchange, has a point in those extremely take offs the car does now. I highly recomend it!!
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d69/manheader/At%20gym/Vespel39671cl.jpg
I also finally get a grip of a pair of fornt slicktires. Just have to search around for a pair of rear ones.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d69/manheader/At%20gym/Slicktire9268330.jpg
I also have some tips for ya. The pilowballs (FZ15) 11mm is same as Traxxas use in their trucks. They are availible in titanium or hardcoated aluminium. Save alot of weight in a row.
Looking for a big header for your engine? Try the one fitted in Thundertiger SSK V2, its a big one for cheap!

SerraAvater, I think you are talking about the 39672 vespel shoe specifically for the 39666s 2 speed. a differnet flywheel comes with that 2 speed so the clutch is different too. on the other hand, the 2 speed Yngwie is using now, uses the stock style flywheel. therefore he used the standard vespel shoe.

FW-04 Special Series/editon is an actual Kyosho car. Kyosho must have sold so few of the the kits, that is why you rarely see one.
I think that the model was created near the end of the FW04 production and came loaded with lots of hop-ups, the most distinctive of these is the black upper deck and chassis. It came with the Honda NSX body or the WARSTEINER AMG MERCEDES CLK body.
WARSTEINER AMG MERCEDES CLK SUPERTEN FW-04 Special Series
http://www.kyosho.ru/auto/auto016.shtml
http://www.speedhobby.com/shop/shopdetail.html?brandcode=005001000002&search=clk&sort=
The hop-ups below mostly can be bought separate, but together with the black Chassis/upper they are the unique FW04 Special Series:
Black Alloy Upper and Lower Chassis Set
Kyosho dark blue/black air filter
2-Speed Tranny (the one with the metal clutch bell, some had plastic, not as good)
Front Universals
Kyosho cooling fan
Kyosho fuel filter
The wheels are Foam to improve the look (and performance if it was driven). The Back wheels are wider than the standard FW-04 rear wheels. These give the car a great look. Then the body is off, the wheels look like the ones on a F1 car! To keep the foam shape on the wheels the cars weight rarely sits on the wheels. I support the car under the chassis with soft plastic blocks.
This one is totally unused and has been in storage for the lost 6 months. It seems a shame to leave a car like this boxed, hence why I'm thinking of selling it.

Well, the Vespel clutchshoes models (39671,39672 and 39673) can be used on a standard flyheel witch ever you use. For example I use the 39673(KC45) on my Thndertiger nitrobike for a more heavyer torque pickup and the 39671 on my St with O.S .18 engine for a quick swap in and for using the e-ring on the clutchshaft.
The "2-speed clutch shoe" 39672 (39666) can be fitted to a standard flywheel if you use the clutchshaft from 39666. FZW 61 showed in pic.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d69/manheader/At%20gym/PICT0004-1.jpg
Or if you turn the shoes upsidedown you can still use the standard clutch shaft with e-ring.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d69/manheader/At%20gym/PICT0007.jpg
If you use a "standard clutchbell" with the 39666 clutchshaft you have to cut of/ lathe the shaft. See portion sticking out of the clutchbell.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d69/manheader/At%20gym/PICT0011-1.jpg
The benefit of using the clutchshaft from 39666 (Knowed as pilotshaft 39301-08) is that no e-ring is needed. It can pop loose at high revs!

I always had a damp rag to clean of the grit. Itīs easyer to fiddle with a clean and shiny Superten:D
Yes, the 39305 was intended for the GP 10 chassis and during that time there was no smallblock engine with such power as the O.S .18.
My tranny holds up pretty good against the engine. Known issues that are weak in this tranny is the so called "hookup" in the 2nd gear.
My not so good 2ndgear shown in pic.

I'm not sure about the make up of the Chassis alloy, this is the description that one of the websites give.
This is the problem with this model. The bespoke parts aren't listed anywhere. So getting replacements is difficult, so it is impossible to find the makeup of the metal. Sorry I can't help.
As for the foam tyres, I have a spare still in the packaging, pair. These MAY get fitted to my running FW04 next summer.

Thank you so much for the tutorial on clutchs.
For my piece of mind, I suppose the reason that you use 39671 coupled with 39666 is to avoid using the e ring on the pilot shaft. That makes sense!
I haven't got the chance to assemble the 2speed clutch yet because I couldn't take the stupid pilot shaft off my engine ><. Based on the instruction, I think the stock 2-speed clutch shoe (in identical shape to 39672) is "clipped" on thepilot shaft via the space in the center, and locked by the spring. I'm pretty sure no e ring is used.
I'm having problem uploading the picutre, I'l post it later. But the point is taken: the rule of thumb is try to avoid using e ring in clutch b/c it fails at high revo. Cool! ;)

Btw, a bit of funny. First when i was looking for slicktires I found none. Now I have 2pairs of each hardness (25Z- 40). Thatīs plenty for waisting rubber on the track!!
Now, post what you have about your Superten!!

Before the great crash of 07, someone posted a couple of links for picking up super ten parts. If memory serves me correctly, one of the sites was a UK site if not both of them.
Does anyone recall what those two sites were. Ok, I just recalled what one was, time tunnels, but does anyone recall the other one that was posted.
Thanks
Haven't been here for 2 weeks and the first post I saw was this :) Cool!
Here are the two UK websites:
Time Tunnel (http://www.goldstarstockists.net/tamiyaparts/tpx/kyosho.htm)
Ben Racing (http://www.benracing.co.uk/acatalog/Kyosho_Spares.html)
A note about Time Tunnel: this is a really really really great website, you place your order first and they will order the parts for you either from France or Japan, and they will only charge you (send you the invoice) once the parts have arrived and are ready to ship.
On the other hand, Ben Racing offers cheaper parts. I just placed an order with them via paypal. I guess it would take at least another week for them to process my order. I will return few weeks later and be able to tell you more about the reliability of this website.

Thank-you SerraAvatar...I will try and post bigger pictures.
Yngwie.. could you please give me the name of the photo hosting site you use, I am not a very good computer guy and would like to use one that I know you could help guide me through it if needed.
I know you already gave me the name once, and I can't seem to find that post now.
Thanks in advance.

Sure. I do anything that might give some good pics of Superten cars! www.photobucket.com The site gives you a good "how to" uploading picīs, creating albums and so forth.

Sorry guys.... I am trying to learn how to post larger pictures on here like Yngwie does but have never done this before. If you get a chance Yngwie perhaps you can give me some step by step instructions on how to do it. I know I sound like an idiot when it comes to this and that is in part because I am one ;) but I could use all the help I can get.
Thanks,

How many of you with four strokes actually run them? I haven't found anyone else that runs them and would like a little info on fan part numbers. I am running a .40 in a T-Maxx and it runs fairly hot. I thought about making a new head for it, but I would have to believe that the fans work. I have seen some of the offroad crowd using a CPU fan with an extra battery pack but I feel that is a waste of time if I can use the engine's power to run it.

Hi Andystoybox
I dont actually run any 4 stroke cars but I have purchased many of the Kyosho fans for various cars and if your thinking of adapting a KYosho fan to your Tmaxx, I would suggest using the one for superten. It is the only ball bearing supported fan and is capable of generating a lot of air at high RPM's. The P/N for the fan is 39641, hope this helps.

Just a few pics to show some options. I would love to see a phots of any of the more unusual options that anyone has obtained.... I know there a million options out there for superten. there is a set of stabilizers F/R for FW03 out there that iw ould love to get my hands on. the problem is I have no idea who made them...lol. I have seen them on a few cars from Japan but I have never seen them for sale. Maybe somebody on here has them?

I used to run mines a lot, but recently, its been a shelf queen. I think filow can provide you a part number for the fan or I can check on it this weekend. I would order an extra fan belt or two also.
Sexy parts filow! Other than the usual Kyosho options on my FW04, I have a Cross chassis on the FW04 and a Form chassis on my F-Ten.

Looks the same from far but many parts are not interchangable. If the 03 is in near perfect condition as you said, market price should be in the region of 2-4 hundred bucks.

Both cars are hard to get parts for, but the FW03 will be a little more difficult. And zoomx is right, not many parts are interchangeable except maybe the drivetrain. The suspension and bulkheads are vastly different on the FW04 (pivot ball suspension.) Ironically, both perform roughly the same. The FW04 is quite a bit heavier than the FW03.

If you check under the modello section, then click on montaggio, you can see a buildup video. Its very much different from the F2004 which was heavily based on the F-Ten. The new F2007 even has inboard mounted shocks now. Nearly everything else is different too, very sweet. :) Even sports a big block .21 engine now vs the old smallblock engines in the F2004. Now I need to practice my italian. :D

Hi C0ntender
I own both versions of supertena s most poeple on the forum do and I think FW04 is a much better car. The electronics box gives you a very clean chassis. You get piviot ball suspension front and rear as well as a built in servo saver, larger fuel tank and a cleaner looking chassis. The only major drawback is that standard wheel hex's dont fit the FW04.
Anyway just my two cents ( which thanks to the Canadian dollar is now actually worth two cents ;)

I just purchased a Wankel Rotary engine off Ebay which I plan to put on an FW04, does anybody have any experience with Wankel engines? I have seen the engine installed on FW03's before but not an FW04, does anybody know why?

I used to own a few RX7's?? :D
I've only seen one pic of it mounted in an FW03, but I guess it wouldn't be too hard to swap it over to an FW04. I think the only issue would be cooling.... There is a 787b rc car somewhere with a wankel in it and it has its own water cooling system and fan.

Hi guys, I'm thinking about getting a new engine, probably an engine from O.S TZ series. Could anyone please share his (hers) masterful understanding of the competibility of push type clutch in FW04?
There are two push type clutchs that came to my mind:
1. Kyosho VZ090, 3D clutch or
2. K Factory UFO Clutch for V1RRR (http://www.kfactoryracing.com/production.jsp?id=K1914&pageNum=1)
I think my inqury narrows down to this:
Whether the 3D (4D would be awsome too :D) clutchs for V1RRR would work on FW04 or not, provided that I would be using an SG type cran
