I just purchased a Tipsy with the upgrade package as my first flyer. I was into glow a few years ago. I have a questiona about the motor setup. First the unit came with a speep 280 and the upgrade with a Jeti controller. Going over the instructions it says to solder the 3 suppressors to the motor. There is only 2 supplied. Does the Jeti regular take the place fo the third ? The standard package was also included, so I THINK i have an extra spped controller (GS 100 JR from Grandwing). Any info on the motor set up would be of great help.. Thanks a bunch

Solder one from positive motor terminal to motor case. The other one from negative motor terminal to motor case.If you want to use a third one it goes from positive to negative motor terminals. A lot of people don`t use any and get away with it.

Maybe some get away without putting any caps on, but better be safe than sorry.;) They tend to help keep radio interference down and glitching from happening.
Have a good one! Jim

Yep!

The noise that an electric motor produces is actually high voltage spikes, they can be in the range of several hundred volts for a fragment of a second.

In worst case these spikes can both damage your ESC and down your plane.

The capacitors shorts these spikes and your ESC will last longer. Also, to some extent they prevent sparks between the brushes and the commutator, extending the motor's life as well.

So the conclusion will be;
No matter if they're two or three: Use the caps, there's a reason why they're included.
