Hi again!

I'm sorry for asll these posts but thi forum is the only way i can get all my questions answered. We all had to ask someone:D
Well here it is,

1. What are all of the terms used for the wings parts, for example: struts, LE, TE? and all that. Im just lost when i see ou guys talking about all this.

2.what is usually the best size balso to use for the different wing parts, i know it varies but im just looking for an average usage.

3. I have never build anything made of balso from scratch. and any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated:) .

I will problably have more questions in the future but thats all for now...

P.S. right now i am working on a FF plane, and if it flies good im going to put a 1 channel system in it.(yes i know, why am i building a plane when i dont know anything about building a plane, i dont know, im just too into this stuff)
Here is the specs for my plane, ill try to get some pictures of it if i can, feel free to correct me on anything, its not too late to change it as of now.

wing span: 15 1/4 in.
dihedral* wing design.
wing covering will be plastic wrap(has worked good for me)
i dont know the weight becuz i am kinda scaless.
for the power system i have an e-charger motor with the original gearbox and prop, which is powered by a capacitor. It is a interesting set up that i saw at www.aeronutz.free-online.co.uk
right now i am out a mercry* switch that is angeled so that if the plane starts climbing too much it will shut off the motor till the plane starts decending. i get about 30 seconds of power which for now is ok till i find out where to get a 6 cell "doubletime" pack.

Now for the wing, for the leading edge i used 1/8 by 1/8 balsa that i am going to sand down to a triange type shape, exact same setup with the trailing edge. my ribs are made out of 1/32 balsa.i think i have a 40 degree angle for my dehedrail**.

thats all fokes.

Spend some time browsing these forums, you can find the answers to your questions in here somewhere. With a 15 1/4 inch span your plane will have to be very light for an e chargers drive to work, the pack is too big and 6 cells will fry the drive in short order and the mercury switch is basically useless weight.

LE, leading edge

TE, trailing edge

Strut, long thin piece tying two pieces together

thanks for the help, I forgot to mention that i have a 4 1/8 in. chord* which seems to give me enough lift. i am having some problems with the power system so i havnt tried it yet but it will "glide" for about 15 ft without loosing any altitude but then it just falls because of all the drag.

Visit www.homefly.com and click "Micro R/C Glossary". Any terms not listed, you can email me direct dlewis@homefly.com.

Hi Brandon
To get the hang of term and wood sizes, study some plans. Download some of the plans at:http://www.home.earthlink.net/~bengco/
and look them over.

We learn by doing and get better by listening. Nothing is impossable until we prove it to ourselfs. Keep building and report your sucesses and failures for our benefit.

Your glide tests may be inturpeted as the center of balance is a bit back and you are doing an approach to landing stall. Try moving something forward or scotch taping a coin forward and see if the glide improves.

U80 props are much better than the stock e charger prop. you can get them from cloud 9.

Also U-80 props can be obtained from Homefly.com or Kenway Micro Flight.
