Hehehehe
This here is how to protect a paintjob from:
1. Heat
2. Wear marks from Air Filter
3. Rub Marks
4. Exhaust pipe paint coming off
5. Stronger
Only disadvantage? It weighs 15 grams more! Oh my god!

Darn right! hehe
I do that to all my bodies. They last about 3 times longer from paint not chipping away, etc.
hehe.. especially on a gas car.. where the darn exhaust ALWAYS rubs on the bodies.
My air-filter lightly touches the center of my roof too.. so pretty soon I'd be seeing light through that if there was no tape.
I always bring a role of "mexican chrome" with me :D (no offense.. thats what my auto tech teacher called it! hehe)

BTW, had I seen this post 15 minutes ago, I would've saved my first R/C car body from tire rub. D'oh!
Being Canadian, I watch that show religiously...

You should be getting paint specifically for polycarbonate. I use Pactra and haven't had a problem.
I just finished taping mine around the wheel wells.

I use that testor's acrylic enamel and gloss paint. It is the stuff for models...Is this O.K? do I need new paint?

I believe you have the standard paint for plastic, not polycarbonate (also known as Lexan). In fact, Pactra paints are made by Testors. Link to list of paints... Here... (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0093p.pgm?C=RHF)

This is a Faskolor painted body by Frank T . We're not retarded on the types of paints to use.
I dont care what paint you use... rub marks on 1/8th scale buggies form everywhere because the bodies fit so tight...
Fiberglass tape works well if you can find it. It sticks well, is almost fireproof, and conforms to body curves.
