Does anyone have a good source of information on flapping wing type (RC) airplanes? I wan't to design an indoor ornithopter, and am looking for ideas on how to flap the wings. I have seen various rotational/gear type systems, but am really looking for something that both controls the downward and upward stroke duty cycles, as well as the wing pitch during up and down strokes. I guess that the flapping should be in the neighborhood of 1200 or less flapping motions per min.
Also, is a standard type electric motor (with gear boxes and such) more suited for a flapping wing type craft, or would a linear motor be more efficient? (kind of like a solenoid, that would directly move the wings up and down)
Thanks Y'all
