I'm using a badger 250 pro(I think) and I have problems with the paint spraying out consistantly. When I try to do fine lines the paint seems to build up then come out in blobs. I'm using parma fastcolor paints straight from the bottle. It doesn't seem to make a difference in what size needle I use. Even when I'm just backing my colors it seems to do this at wide open throttle. do I need to thin down my paints? I have tried many different pressures also. what air brush would you recommend for my next? Iwata? Any advice would be well apprieciated. Your painting is top notch. Keep up the good work.
thanks rob

For your next airbrush, I'd recommend the Iwata Eclipse or Revolution. I've never heard any one say a single bad thing about them.
As for your brush, I've never used it so I dont know the particulars of it. What pressure are you using? Have you been using enough? Fascolors require between 40 and 70 psi to spray them. Next step would to try thinging them to the consistency of milk. They are not consistent at all. Mine blob when they are too thin or thick.

I would also highly recommend the iwata eclipse I personnally shoot a iwata hp sa single action and have been for a year or so and love it.
on the badgers the needles are very thin and made of a very low quality material you can just barely touch them and they bend I see them bent in the package this will cause the problem you are describing the other problem I see with the badger is the holes inside of the aircap are way to small and clog very easy and are very hard to clean this will also cause the problem you are describing
in other words the badger brush is your problem at our store we have a plastic model club it seems most of the guys who join come in with a badger brush after 3 months they get so sick of the problems and see the others success with paashe or iwata brushes they switch 85 percent of the guys shoot single action paashe brushes 5 percent dual action paashes and the rest are a mix of single or dual action iwata or tamiya brushes tamiyas are repackaged iwata guns

when you spray at such a high psi do you have any problems blowing the paint away as you try to spray it on?
h20vwdrvr: do you think changing to a new needle will fix this for now?

yes a new needle should solve it for now. when you buy it ask to rake it out of the pakage and roll it on the stores glass counter a few times and make sure it is straight look real close.
as to blowing the paint very rarely do I notice a problem because with my iwata I can do detail work at 15 to 20 psi while with my paasche that would have had to have been 25 to 35. if you do notice it blowing your paint away you have your needle open to far or you are staying in one place to long and you need to work faster.
the best way I can explain shooting a thin paint like pactra or alclad 2 versus shooting a thick paint like parma or tamiya or createx is when you drink a soda out of a straw it takes very little energy to get it through the straw now that straw and put it in a milkshake if you use the same energy nothing is going to come through the straw now you double the energy and it will come through the straw at the same rate as the soda did
it is the same when you shoot a thick paint like parma it takes more energy to suck it out of the jar and push it through the tip in this case the energy is the air
I hope that makes sense I am tired I just got off work
