For those of you off road types...this is one sweet track with nice wide lanes. We just had our first official race of the season (the rain held back - 4/6/02). Pretty good turnout considering the dark clouds. Each class you enter is only $5 for the month of April. Check out BCR (http://bear.rc-cars.net) for more info (map to the track) or post a question. Only Open for racing on Saturdays and practice on Sunday.

Here is a few action shots of the day (race & early practice). They are mostly 1/8th scale pics because I was either racing, cornering, or working on my r/c during the other classes.

I think it is one of the best tracks around because it has nice wide lanes and a good combination of speed vs. challenging areas as well as mostly clay, but some regular dirt areas (no tire shreading blue groove). The big jumps were toned down on the current layout to save on parts and the locals are very helpful if you are having any tech problems. The track attracts many nitro drivers because it is so big...running stock electric on it would be a little booring in my opinion. The race fees are only $5 per class for the month of April. Check out all the pics on the website (should be up tonight at 9pm). As for the rain...if the track is too saturated you cannot walk on it, so the weather is a factor to be able to race or not. We will have a phone number with current race conditions soon.

4 hours is a bit of a drive...you might think about one of the 2 big races we have every year...the Bear Cup & the Nitro Challenge which practice on friday (pre-race) and last all day Saturday & Sunday. Many bring campers or tents to them.

Website is working now.

The track also has an origonal starting system to r/c racing adapted from the motocross...gate starts so you can get the real holeshot! I can't stand racing a clock.

How many T-MAXX's do you get on average? How do you think a stock T-MAXX would fare with a OS .15CV-X?

Well...on opening day we had 6 in the monster truck class and I assume that will at least double in a month when every shows up as the season gets going. As for a stock Maxx...you should do just fine...I have a ported stock motor and there was one guy faster than me with a .16 in his. I think that beyond a fast maxx is one that is built solid to finish the race...not solid alum, just put together right with lock tight in the right places and all. I beat him on the final becuse his receiver pack went dead, but I also broke a rear u-joint 2 laps to the end and after the race I did a few reverse donuts and poped the front drive shaft off...so it just sat there and idled...but I won :) If you put on the proline bow tie tires with the offset stablemaxx rims, I think you will have an edge over most.
