I will be going into the hobby soon and I would like to know what trainer plane I should buy that's good and very solid. Also....Anyone use a Futaba 9CAP? I'd like to know how those are because its one of the radios on my list.

i would first recommend a flight sim. then a trainer. horizon hobby has a trainer that requires only 30 min. to build. xtra easy,by hangar 9. it comes with a mds .40 installed,jr ex421 computer radio with 2 model mem, and radio gear also installed.

well, I have heard that the sig kadet is an awsome plane, never flown it before though. I use a JR 421 EX computer radio system, and i love it! I would definitly recommend getting an instructer for your first few flights, THAT IS A MUST. I crashed my first plane because i didnt get one.:( If u cant get an instructer, then try looking into indestructibles, such as a sturdy birdy. they may be ugly, but they will help u to learn to fly. Good luck to you.

Hi Nismo,
The Sig LT-40 kit is a super flyer if you can get some help on the flight line. Many friends around me have had good success with the Tower line of ARF trainers as well. Again, you will really need an instructor for the early flying.
No instructor? Stay away from the power models and start with an electric park flier from GWS, something like the Litestik or Tiger Moth. These you can teach yourself with.
Good luck, Dave

Is the powered planes a lot different than the park flier as far as control and things like that.

Hello Nismo GTR,
The power planes are generally larger with a wingspan around 5 feet for most trainers, and they usually weigh between 3.5-5 pounds. They are fast and powerful enough that they need the open spaces of a club field, and can handle breezy weather fairly well. You should plan getting help if you start with one of these.
The electric park flyers generally have wingpans of 3 feet or so, weigh about 1/4- 1/2 pound, and are gentle on the controls. Many fellows have learned to fly by themselves with one of these, but they do require pretty calm weather for best flying.
Regards, Dave
