If your not going to run the body, and it's just for show, you can be unlimited on how realistic you want to be.

For a tail pipe, and kind of painted brass tubing will work, or you can buy pre-made tail tail pipes for RC car bodies.

For added realism, you can add door handles, mirrors, antenae, wipers, disk brakes, lights, etc.

Have fun...

Post some pics when you're finished!

i was thinking about adding mirrors but what could i use to make them? i do plan on running the body but i am a very good driver. i have to be because i cant afford to buy a new body every month or so. i can make one body last over a year. the stock body lasted me over two years and the only reason i threw it out was the paint started to peel and crack, but not from crashing. i have seen the premade tailpipes and they look good, however i was looking for one of the angled ones the drop out behind the rear wheel. so i was going to make one. but if someone knows of a premade one, that might work too. thanks for the tips. keep them coming!

I used 1/4" diameter tubing cut on an angle and soldered to a piece of brass plate. I covered the pipes with some chrome monocote which is available in the airplane section of your LHS. I painted the insides of the pipes with some flat black model paint. They are mounted to the running boards with servo-tape.

You can't solder aluminium. But if you really needed to use it you might be able to use epoxy. Don't know...never tried it.

Here's a link to another type of pipe treatment.

They were called "Lakes pipes" and were popular in the 50's and 60's...... they are styrene plastic and just glued together and stuck on with servo-tape again.....

Hope this gives you some new ideas....... bluesey aka Doug....

Just curious,
Do you own a 1:1 scale hot rod ? I've seen a purple one of yours, and I was just curious.

ShinHed... Oh how I wish I owned a 1:1 rod. I've dreamed of something like this since I was a teen...... Just never had the $$$$ to commit to having one. I guess I'll just have to be content with the 1/10th versions.

i was thinking of making a aluminum bed cover for the bed. not a shell but one of the hard covers, id use aluminum and make the little shock things to open it. im trying to figure it all out so that it opens so i can put the body pins in it. ill let you know how it works out, keep the ideas coming though.
