I have a pair of Trinity 2500mah NiMh batts and an old Airtronics Time charger. The guy at my LHS said that its okay to use the time charger but to charge the battery till it gets warm and stop. It seems that it begins to get warm after only 8-10 minutes, seems a bit short. The meter on the charger says its charging at a rate of around 6 amps. Any suggestions, keep in mind I cant really afford to buy a peak charger at the moment since i just bought the 2 batteries and a speed gems 2 15/4 motor.
thanks,
Karl

15 minutes at 4 amps = 60 amps
10 minutes at 6 amps = 60 amps
simple enough?
according to RCCA it is safe to charge your batteries at an amperage equal to 2x their capacity a 2400mAh pack can be charged at 4800 milliamps or 4.8 amps they continue by saying "Four amps is a safe rate for good all-around performance with any Ni-Cd battery."
higher amp rates gives it more punch but only if you run em right away... dont go above 6-8 amps and you're good i guess but it would be safer to put it down to 4amps if you can..other than that your charge time is about right :)

Thats makes things much clearer now! Thanks
Dont know where you get your facts, but he's WAY undercharging them...
10 minutes at 6 amps equals 1000 mah.. Thats all...
10 min X 6 amps equals
60 min X 1 amp = 1 amp/hr = 1000 mah
he wants to charge them for alot longer (unless he's not fully discharging them)..
At 6 amps he should at LEAST be 20 minutes on them.... (that will be about 2000 mah put into them)..
