Hi all!

Jeez, I thought this boat forum would've really taken off by now! There's not a lot of posting going on!

I am a nitro car fanatic and I'm toying with the idea of getting a nitro boat. I'll tell you what is sounding good to me and maybe some of you boat experts can tell me why I should or shouldn't go that route... and maybe point me in another direction.

I'm thinking of getting the Traxxas Nitro Vee. The reasons I think this boat would be good are it has a clutch so I don't have to hand launch and keep it moving, the RTS system means less trips in the canoe and I figure a V hull would be best for just tooling around - I want to take it camping with me so my wife can never escape RC! Muhahahahahaha LOL

My plan is to get the stinger exhaust right away (I hate that "Stampede" exhaust) and I hear Artura makes a metal prop and shaft that's supposed to make the boat faster and get up on plane quicker.

OK, what do you all think of this plan? I am a pure newbie here so I'd appreciate anything you folks have to offer!

Thanks
Jay

Thanks for the reply RS4rally1124!

I have more questions:

I see this boat comes with a 2 stick radio... yuck! What do you all run your boats with? I really want to run a pistol... is there any reason not to?

doot, just wait a while. It took me a good few days to find it myself.

(above /\, I typed "doot" as in dude. My little brother seems to think it is "***". I personally find it amusing when my german freind says doot. do you think i sould stop?)

Don't buy the Nitro Vee It is a piece of crap. Everyone I know who had the boat hated it. It fell apart due to the nitro fuel eating the ABS.Never buy an ABS boat with a nitro engine.

If you leave fuel in ANY ABS hull, it will break them down. Make sure you clean, as with any nitro burner, after running.
ABS hulls are subject to the vibration of nitro engines. Keep ALL mounting bolts secure and be sure the drive line, including the prop, is balanced and in line.

Big Wig, I believe you mean Octura not Artura :D And all you need to install most metal props is a piece of brass tubing with an O.D. of 3/16". Cut the tube the length of the prop hub from its rear to the ears where the drive dog engages. This makes a perfect shim between the 4 mm drive shaft and 3/16" ID prop hub.

Yes the Nitro V is a very good boat
