Let's not forget those sincere offers of:
"I'll give you $50 for your Serpent VETEQ with the C4 On-road engine"
I'm amazed at what people will and will not buy these days. I tried selling a few cars on ebay and 2 of the 4 hit their reserve...barely. The reserve was fair and I've seen many of the same cars go for much higher with comparable equiptment. Then I go to the next page on ebay and I see something like a used bone stock T-Maxx sell for higher than retail!!!! Geesh!

To be honest, it's all in the selling. eBay is a science, and when you learn how to sell (and buy) you can do well.
I bought my first r/c car on eBay - an IWC Edition Losi Street Weapon - for $80. (I also got a second Street Weapon standard, for parts, for $40.)
I sold that same car, with very little changed, a few months ago on eBay for $152.
You need three things to sell well on eBay.
1. GOOD PICTURES
2. A GOOD, TRUTHFUL, COMPLETE DESCRIPTION
3. A GOOD TITLE LINE THAT ATTRACTS SEARCHES
It helps if you proofread your listing too - I'm less willing to bid on an auction that looks like it was written by an illiterate 12 year old.

Yeah I'm aware of those. And I followed them the best I could. The next time though I will paint the body with a cool paint scheme...I find that helps a lot.

Naming each parts Retail price!?
Servo-129.99 retail, actually paid 30 on e-bay
Novak Millennium - 199.95 Retail, Brother gave it to me for nothing
T3-Retail 279.99, bought it used in the hobby shop @ 150
1000's of dolars in hop-ups!!!
"I would like to 600 for the whole package, remember, you paying for the T3, Novak and servo, I'm giving the hop-ups away for practically nothing!!"
Gota love those kids who post everything in retail value, and expect to get back 80% of there investment. Sorry, but your monitary value is worth 0 dollars! Neither are the 100's of A-mains you won with it!
ag2001
04-27-2002, 01:03 PM
haha, on many sites, they say the tmaxx retail price is 850 so someone could be like...
this is an tmaxx, and it comes with a new engine, etc.i only want 600, please keep in mind that the retail value of the tmax is 850, and all that other stuff together would be over a thousand!

"TONS OF STUFF FOR SALE"
means I finally got around to cleaning out the garage and found all this crap I forgot about and never use any more.
This is generic, but any time someone bids more then retail (you see this a lot with aluminum TC rims)
means the buyer is to dumb to check out Tower for current selling prices.

04-27-2002, 06:56 PM
don't forget this one
"it is a real fixer upper"
meaning:
I striped it of everything that was worth value. I want some poor sap to buy something used for 100 bucks when you can buy new for about $60.
"I ran out of time to play with it"
meaning:
the wife is makeing me sell this because I was too buisy with it to pay attention to her :D.
"this is not for beginners"
Meaning:
yea it is fast but it handles like a brick on wheels.

Well i'm not I am almost the Exact opposite of that. I am a skinny, tall 19 year old boy (I didn't say Man because I don't wanna grow up).
But yea I've noticed that I went to a R/C air field and saw that around 3/4 had spare tires, and I don't mean for their vehicles.
Some of these people need to get to the gym. I was at the gym, this was for school credit and after words I was full of energy and was driving my truck even better. Don't know if that was because of the PE class?

Yeah I noticed that too. It seems like every time you see race coverage in the mag. half the guy have a big ol' spare tire around their waist.
Just wanted to add something to the list:
"Used but in great condition"
Means:
A) yeah its in great condition, considering what I used it for.
B) i ran it once, something snapped, it sat in my garage ever since.

custom body (this was the first body i ever painted)
