Looking for something cheap to bash around with the option of upgrading parts. So which is better?

Any other similar truck with 4WD?

For straight up bashing, I gotta say the rustler. I don't own one, nor do I know anyone who does. But I have an Evader, and it does not hold up well to bashing around.

Just my $0.02 :D

I would go with the Evader ST. You get a lot of hop-ups already with it and one year parts replacement. It look like a better truck to me, though the rustler is a good truck as well. The slipper clutch on the Evader is better IMO than the one on the rustler. I don't like the rulon peg one because it dosen't hold the spur gear from wobbling very well.

I like both.....it would be a hard choice between the 2 but I think in the end I would pick the Evader

rustler for all out bashing, i have the evader and the only thing i see wrong with it is the weak plastic, it handles very well when bashing and dosnt flip as easily

if you can i would go for a rtr t3 or if your jumping a stampede

Does the rustler flip easy? What about hopup options and support? I'm seeing myself beating the crap out of it and I want to be able to get different replacement parts easily.

The Rustler is a tank in disguise, but I've heard bad things about the Evaders durability. The Evader is more of a first time racers car rather than a basher. The Rustler's parts are easy to find, and it has great customer support to boot. The Rustler is a great basher, and if you wanna race eventually, nothing is stopping you. A Stampede is also a great choice for bashing and all the stated facts above about the Rustlwer apply as well, except for the racing part. The Stampede can handle rougher terrain than the Rustler, but wont handle as well.

Well I wouldn't get the Evader. At first I really wanted it. A very well equipped truck and ESC included for about $110! This truck looks sweet too and reminds me of a Losi truck. For the price it has it all. Sounds too good to be true doesn't it. And that is exactly what it is. After going through the Evader forum here, sounds like this truck can't evade a break! I see numerous posts about parts breakage and how getting parts is hard to come by. I also hear that the Duratrax customer service sucks and it takes forever to get your part in. You'll be asking for replace parts all the time considering how weak this truck is. I went to a new LHS yesterday. I saw the Evader hanging on the wall so I talked to guy there. Then he said "this truck is crap". Then he continued saying all the same things that I hear about this truck. He seems honest, since the shop does carry the Evader.

If Durtrax had a recall on them and all the shops would return it back to the manufacturer to fix their problem then I would definitely get it. But if those lemons are still on the shelves I wouldn't want to risk buying one.

Thanks for all the reply guys. I was considering the Evader for the exact same reason Burnout said....fully loaded truck at a good price and the look of a Losi. But I would like to spend more time driving then fixing. So I guess the Rustler is more suitable for my need now.

hey, if you want to spend as much as you would on the evader, consider the white racing chassis, it has no flex and it says that it makes it faster, and better controlled

Our LHS no longer stocks or sells the Evader. They had 5 that sold very quickly, but all 5 of the purchasers were not happy with them at all. Sure the free parts are nice, but you still have to wait for them and after getting them, something else will break and you have to wait again! To keep their business, he offered them all RTR Rustlers/Stampedes at a discounted price.

Get the rustler! its a great truck, I got a stampede, samething basically, and its really strong suspension arms are really strong waaay stronger than a losi or AE, which break quite easily.

Just make sure the slipper is loose so you dont strip idlers and spurs....
