What size you need, what are you trying to do?

well a few years back i didnt foresee myself getting back into off road racing so i bought the Mamba Max 7700 system for bashing and high speed runs. now i want to race. i bought a stock motor but there isnt enough people to have a class, and i dont want to deal with the maintenance of a modified brushed motor. also i just cant afford to buy another brushless motor right now. our track is very tight, and testing the other day i was using a 13 tooth pinion with the 87 spur. i was running out of track before i ran out of motor. i know robinson makes a 12 tooth but i have heard the smaller pinions are not as effecient or something like that. so the largest spur i think would give me a better range of gearing.

Does anyone have shock building tips? The clamps keep not clampin so helP please?

are you using clamps to preload the springs? my old rc10T used them, but i never really liked them. get yourself some regular clip on spacers and be done with it.

Another thing you can do if the clamps are stripped is to use a slightly longer screw and use the Associated 4-40 thin nuts part #7260. They are quite a bit smaller then their standard 4-40 nuts and work a treat on stripped clamps.

Hey Everyone.
I bought a T4 at the beginning of the summer and I've had a recurring problem since. I originally had a Reedy 12T motor in it with the recommended gearing, which was a 20T pinion and stock spur (84T i believe?). Anyway, i pretty much melted two of those motors and I've also tried an Orion 13T motor with a 17T pinion. I also melted the power wires to this motor in only about 3 or so minutes with a 2S Lipo. I know it's not the motor since I've had three different ones do the same thing. Am I still over-geared or what gives? I can use a 17T motor with a 20T pinion and it works fine, but it's too slow for me.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone.

A 20T pinion is way to much for a 12t motor, I'd be starting at a 15t pinion.

Okay, Thanks. I needed a starting point. I guess I won't trust a manual for suggestions again, because a 20T pinion is what it suggests for a 12T motor...

Why did you all select the T4 vs a B4?

Is it just a style thing, or are there some fundimental differences between the two vehicals?

Different class for racing, wheel base, width, handling characteristics, etc.

So mostly for racing, you all wanted a vehicle to race in the stadium truck class. Is that it?

I have a B4 and a T4, I like both for different reasons.

Please elaborate, what do you like about each?

How about you tell us what it is your looking for out of these two vehicles?
What you looking for a basher or a racer or both?

I just got a FTT4 in a trade and also got a Team Edition B4 roller with it :D

I got the T4 to get back into racing and because the local tracks here are a little rough so the T4 would handle the track better with it's longer wheelbase, wider track, more ground clearance, longer suspension travel and bigger tires.

That being said and having gotten a B4 roller in the deal I have to say that 2wd buggy is a class I like and will be racing the B4 if the chance comes up? The look of the B4 is just to kewl and takes me back to when I first got into R/C racing in the 2wd buggy class ;)

My FTT4 is setup with a Mamba Max 6900kv system powered by a Hyperion 2S 4270mah LiPo pack :D Got to run it this past Sunday and it runs really good. Track was a bit loose so could'nt see the full potential of the setup but it was still a blast to run!!!

Been wanting to do this for years now!

I remember doing this back in the mid 80's before they started making stadium trucks ;)

We used to make fiberglass chassis to extend the wheelbase of an RC10 and JG Mfg. made wheel adapters to run 8th scale buggy wheels/tires :D

So a couple of years ago I had a T4 and found some wheel adapters made by New Era that allowed the use of 8th scale buggy wheels/tires!!!!

Here's some pics of my T4 with the 8th scale buggy wheels/tires and a B4 body
