I went out and drove on my Dirt Oval track. It is a fair sized oval, and the dirt is really loose.

I don't have money for new tires, but I am just looking for choosing the best set. I know Edge fronts are good for front, and the back I am using DuraTrax soft compound pin tires. Here is my selection to use:

Pro-Line Bowties
DuraTrax pin's
Pro-Line "Y" Design (little Y's for tread)

I also have Losi Step pins, but those are only for racing at the club.

Bow-ties are meant for blue-groove and hard-packed surfaces, so those tires may not be what you want to use. You might wanna use the "step-pin" type tire you have mentioned. Also, I don't know what the "y" tread tire is, could you enlighten me?

Most of the offroad guys run M2 Bowties at our track and almost all the guys run M2 Bowties for stock/modfied oval. The other popular tire being the Holeshots. So I think Bowties would work great for you!

Well I tried the bowtie T's and they were a huge improvement over the other ones. I am not going to try the Y design tires because they are my friends and I should give them back soon.

The dirt is loose at first, but after a pack or two, even with a single truck, the track will have a good line to drive in where the loose stuff has been spun away.
