I need some help deciding which tunnehull to get, the Dumas hot shot 3.5 or Prather 32". What engine would you guys recommend using? If there is anything else I might need to know about these boats, please post! Thanks for you input.

The Prather tunnelboat is a epoxy-glass hull and requires a 7.5 O/B motor, and the K&B 7.5 O/B motor would be your choice on the Prather.
As for the HotShot, you have a choice of either an ABS plastic or wood kit, and the ABS plastic Hot Shot will be far easier to assemble. A 3.5 outboard motor is used on both Dumas tunnelhulls, but both K&B and O.S. make suitable outboards for these two boats.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for your input on the engines. Now, which hull would be more durable, abs or fiberglass? I won't be racing, just having fun. However, I do want to have good performance and good quality. I race nitro offroad, but have no experience with boats. Also, does anyone know of any other sites or forums where I could get some help if needed? Thanks

For fun running I'd go with the ABS Hot Shot and an O.S. 3.5 outboard. Most tunnel boaters prefer ABS 'Shot, as a quick repair with CA is possible for small damages, and the O.S. O/B will run great from the box. For more performance you can try 30-49 percent nitro boat fuel and/or an Irwin pipe on the O.S..
Again, hope this helps,
RickE

Hello,I would prefer the deep V s over the tunnel hulls because tunnel hulls do not take rough water or choppy water well, deep v boats are more durable on the lake plus they are more fun...I have a deep v boat which goes 20-25 on the water...I recommend you get one of these, you are a beginner and they are great boats for first timers...I would not begin with a tunnel hull until you get the hang of it..I have been in rc boats for 5 years trust me start with a v hull...You will not go wrong..Faith

Which deep-v do you prefer?

I would prefer the traxxas blast which is the cheapest of the boat line traxxas makes, it is ready to run,it costs about 159 dollars but it is a semi v,I used this guy when I first started out,it goes about 20mph...I also would prefer the boat I have which is the traxxas villian IV, this boat is a deep v and it is great for large lakes it runs up to a football field long....You should also start with an electric (which is what these are),you can handle these boats better for your first time...After about a year of using these than you can move up to a traxxas nitro v which is a gas boat but this boat costs up to 350 dollars...The villian costs about 250 dollars and is about 3 feet long, it looks like a ski boat...It runs 25 mph...

Don't have one yet. I'm looking on ebay for a tunnel hull, preferable the hot shot 3.5. Maybe I can find a good deal. Does anyone have one of these they want to sell?
