would it help in any way to use bigger caps on your motor than the ones that came on it? looks to me like bigger is better, to a point anyway....

Bigger = better doesn't apply in the case of decoupling capacitors. Decoupling capacitors need to be of a certain size in order to work best within a certain frequency range. Using a larger capacitor will shift the effective frequency range down, which may actually result in more inteference than if you just left the .1uF 50V ceramic capacitors on there.
