I was out flyin my flitter B for the first time and decided to hit high rates and suddenly it spun into the ground. when I got to the crash site the plane was fine but the elevons were in very weird positions and after that no matter which dual rate I'm on the controls don't respond to my stick the way they should. I've tryed all the switches in all positions and nothing helped. when I give up elevon it goes up for a 1/8 of an inch and past that one elelvon goes up and one down extremely fast. after a while I tryed it again and it worked fine but I can't fly agian until I know what caused it. I'm using a prism7 tx and gws flight gear
please don't say its the transmiter
thanks

make sure you antana wire didn't become bare at the reciever.
It does happen and will short out on the other parts.

shouldn't have been bare because the receiver was brand new. Ill check any way when I get home

Fwilly,
I had the exact same thing happen with my Prism 7X and a 555 receiver. I swapped out the receiver, and fixed the problem. Haven't sent the RX back yet, so I don't know what's wrong with it.
I hope your problem is the RX also.

Fwilly;
Three words for you; "Check the servos!" I suspect they're the ones causing the fuzz.
Either the crash has stripped some teeth of the gears or the potentiometer (the small gadget sensing the output shaft's angular position) is broken. If you can unplug the servos and twist the horn CAREFULLY in each direction, without feeling any small jump or jam, the potmeter is most likely the culprit.
A set of new gears isn't so expensive and you can fix it yourself, as long as you have a small and suitable scewdriver for the job.
Replacing the potmeter will require a small soldering iron and, in some cases, readjusting the servo's midpoint after the replacement. I'm not 100% sure of what a potmeter for your servos will cost, prices vary between a couple of bucks to over $20:00 for the real high-end servos.
One other thing to consider is the receiver crystal! Those little rascals can and will give you a hard time after a crash. I doubt that the receiver in itself is broken, then you'd probably wouldn't get any response from it at all, but check the crystal just to be sure. Best way to do this is to swap it with another, known-working sample ON THE SAME FREQUENCY!
Do a range check with your own crystal and overhauled servos. If this works, all should be fine, but don't take my word for it! :)
Hope this will help you. If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask! :) (There's nothing such as stupid questions, just stupid answers!)

antenas fine. servo gears seem fine. don't think its the pots because they were both doing weird things at the same time and the impact wasnt hard enough to hurt the airframe or even break the prop(the 13 inch prop slows it down pretty well even when its headed straight down and it was. i did have the sense to chop the throttle) crystal seems fine as well. don't have a small enough receiver to replace the rp4
I think there might have been water on the receiver board from the test glide into the dew covered grass. could this have caused the problem? that would explain why it works now(water evaporated) when I looked at it when I got home there was still water inside the wing bays but it was dry every where else. every thing checks out now so I guess I will try again(If it doesn't start raining before the wind dies down)
thanks for all the advice

Hi Fwilly,
A little bit of water on the flight pack will go a long ways. I have gotten my gear wet several times with my hydro flying out of my pond, and each time it goes very stupid until dried out. Alchohol does a good job of displacing the water, and a hair dryer will speed things along.
I too have the Prism 7X and love it. Each time I set up a new model (or change settings) I keep a notepad record of the various settings for that model. If you ever suspect your tranny, try switching to another model file. The settings will be all goffy, but if it still is jumpy or erratic, The flight pack is suspect.

thanks it flew great. got three flights on it this evening and tomarows a school holiday so I hope to get many more. C drive works great on the flitter b and its very durable(I fell out of a very short hover and there happened to be a tree behind the plane. pulled it out just fine) can't wait to add a rudder.

Fwilly;
I'm glad things are working OK now.
Keep the shiny side up and have great landings! :)

thanks
Its been to windy to fly here. the flitter is very light and after a series of gusts made it fly backwards over the fence I almost couldn't get it back over. it just kept hovering in the wind. after I slowly got it back over I landed and put up for the day
