Are you asking about a motor for the Kyosho discussed in your last post?

You can try the 22T single in the Kyosho, but you'll need to closely monitor the heat on the speed control, battery pack and the motor itself. In many cases a hotter motor will require a water-cooling ring be used to protect the unit from damage, plus it's also possible to run a water-cooling line to the brush hoods as well. The endbell can get so hot the wires can de-solder themselves from the motor, so again, only run a minute and check everything from heat-but don't burn your digits!

hope this helps,

I just added that as it's always possible to fry a motor or SC when working with a DC boat. At a resent fast electric race I saw numerous melt-downs on motors, batteries and speed controllers, so checking all of the componets for heat can eliminate the chances of deducting money from your wallet.

Hi RickE,

Have you got a ny photos of the brush-hood cooling?

thanks...

I got a Jetstream 800 EP myself.

No, but you simply solder small brass tubes to the motor's outer brush hood area and then attach silicone tubing to either end to past water thru them. Many boaters use K&S tubing with an 1/8" inch inside diameter and regular electronic solder or silver solder-plus if you remove the brush hoods from the motor first you'll be assured of no melting of the endbell.

You also might look at the RumRunner fast electric boat website forum to check on photos of water-cooled brush hoods.

Hope this helps,
RickE

Thanks RickE!

I think your explanation gives me a clear picture already of what to do... okidoky..

I have an experience the first time I ran my Jetstream EP on 7cells and an RS540 r/c car motor.

Total runtime was 7 minutes, and I was very happy with it. When dumped, I opened up the cover and out goes steam from the inside, I thought for a minute that I melted the endbell. Sooner I realized that water was seeping in from the stuffing tube and splashed a few water into the hot motor.

I'm on my workbench now getting ready to work on it.

Thanks again!
