I am looking to get an electric deep vee but I do not know what is a good and fast boat. I am a beginner so I have no idea where to look for motors, electronic speed controls, or even where to find a good boat on the internet. Please help me, I have watched my friend drive his boat and it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

I would suggest getting a traxxas villian its a fast boat for the first timer... the speed is 20mph it is faster on flat water...I have one its sooooooooo cool...It has a mech. speed control very cool..This boat can run up to a football field long or more...The price range is about 200-250 you can order one off of towerhobbies just punch it in...I hope this helps if you have anymore questions pm me...I've been in this sport over 5 years..

Need to ask a few questions: How big a 'vee do you want, and how fast do you want it run? Also, the speed will get faster, but your runtime will go down in the trade-off for MPH.
Most pre-built, plastic electric boats like the Villian, Blast and Kyosho-type boats will run in the 10-15MPH range for about 15-20 minutes on a six-cell, 2300-3000 Mah battery pack-and are you willing to build a boat or have one built for you?

Which boat is a better Vee based on speed, handling, acceleration, and battery run time between the villian and the blast? Also, where is there a web site that has boats, esc's, motors, and accesories for the traxxas boats such as a water cooling kit for the villian?

The Villian will be quicker than the Blast-two motors on gearbox vs. single 540 in the blast Traxxus sells a water-cooling kit for their Villian-check their website.
Hop-ups are available from such companies as Fine Design, RC Hydros, etc., check their ads in RC Boat Modeler Magazine.

you can pick up any traxxas parts from towerhobbies on the web here for much cheaper than the company....

Quite true... However, without question, the very best mods are the ones you BUILD, not the ones you buy :)
Observe the world's most modified entry level boat:

Granted, some stuff is beyond the scope of the standard issue hobbyist. Items such as props are pretty darn hard to make yourself!! :)
But, for a great many mods, there is intellect, dexterity and a bit of trial-and-error.
I read Jeeporators ( excuse my remembering names ) posting and the email on mods and noticed the cooling of the brush hoods was left out! The cooling of brushes is very important cause brushes create more heat than arm especially the positive side cause the strongest spring is there. Brush cooling is more effective than can cooling, it has been proven. One other item overlooked is the can has vents and is covered up with a tight cooling coil which is a big mistake. The warm air of arm cannot escape and therefore the heat does more damage. The way to aid in cooling the can is by opening up the coil where the vents are at least 1/8" and that helps the coil and the arm get rid of the heat plus hood cooling. If u go to www.fastelectrics.com and look up aetup there is a guy named Findley which shows how to make hood cooling. 2 cents. Have a good day!!

hehe, "jeeporator" :D
I agree with you that brush cooling is important.
I disagree, however, that it is more important than cooling the can.
FWIW, my 15 turn motors stay cool all the way up to 4 minute runs with 12 cells in my boat. The brushes last 10 runs at this stress level as well. Some of this is due to the streme quality of the Reedy Sonic motors (big comm). By "cool" I mean luke warm.
Brush hood cooling is also significantly more difficult to do and makes motor maintenance much harder.
I have considered doing it, but the bads outwheighed the goods, for me at least. Besides, it'a an entry level boat! :)
I disagree on maintenance end cause it would be in the way what so ever. i THINK I KNOW WHAT U ARE TALKING ABOUT! oK HERE'S THE ANSWER; WHEN CUTTING BRASS FOR THE PIECE WHICH STAndS UPRIGHT, OPS BIG LETTERS OK ok alright; cut a slant which vers away from motor so u can get screwdriver in and when i take my spring holder out i use a brass pipe 5/32 which fits snugly onto post, maybe a little nug with pliers and nothing to it. On plastic end bells u have to take end bell off but u only do this once. U disagree on hood to can cooling, well AndrewG of fastelectrics says it depends on the motor horsepower it has to do. The smaller the motor the more help it needs and the bigger the motor the less help it needs unless u are canning it all the time. I have a question and that is there a wrench to take off spring post? I may make one but if there is a wrench i'll buy it! Thank for replying!!
U know it doesn't matter if it is an entry level boat or not. It helps u understand boats and what to get on u r next boat on u r budget. I'll tell something in the Radio Control Boat Modeller mag. The shockwave 26EP for $160.00 with everything in it and a 40 esc and a sharp boat and the upgrades were not mentioned and i have a hull in workshop that is worth the same as the Shockwave!!
I forgot something and i just remembered when putting motor on mount put a 1/16" piece of metal between motor and mount so motor can draw air thru and around mount and will help some to keep heat down, hope this helps!! Have a good day, sorry about name spelling jeepinator, i'm good LOL laughing out loud!!!
